RoyalGinger 2.0 is out and it is 2.3.4
quoted from the RoyalGinger OP
Release Name: RoyalGinger
Release Version: v2.0
Base Firmware: 2.3.4
Kernel Verison: ckisgen-smartass-CM7-v1.0 Kernel
Recovery Required: 3.0.2.4

Where do I download that at? Is it worth the upgrade from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4?

That and if you paid for clockwork mod donate then you can get the update notifications on your phone. I just updated my CM7 today because the app told me the new version is out.

"YES" CM7(AOSP2.3.X) is big daddy of all of these lilROM's as they are just using it as base. If you want AOSP2.3.4 use CM7NB60+ without the CM7SR703 as its still AOSP2.3.3 or you can use stripped down AOSP2.3.4 which I tested it today man it was fast.

Royalginger 2.0 is really fast, smooth and stable. Have not flashed CM7 since RC4 but it was good as well. You should check out both. Also faux has an AOSP rom that is 2.3.4.

I just flashed royal Ginger last night and its really nice IMO.the only issue I had was trying to restore my data. It wouldn't past the boot screen after the restore but works fine without the restore.I'm just very slowly getting my stuff set back up.my guess is because I had setcpu overclocked on my last Tom and its known to cause some issues with ginger

why would you not want to? they obviously included something that is "behind the scenes" that will help your phone with performance.
I have this installed, I don't think he did anything to the kernel. he just mentions that the oc kernel he uses works with it well. maybe I'm missing something but I haven't noticed any overclocking stubs.

overclocking stubs?
you have to have an app (such as setcpu) to overclock...the kernel just allows for the phone to be overclocked and i can only imagine the stock kernel did not.
You can find app in forums if you search for its free to xda users.

I installed the rom and so far so good. The reason I want it as stock as possible with no overclocking is primarily battery life and just to see how it was released. I did notice you can toggle third-party installs, which allowed me to continue using swype.

He also compiled a OC kernel using the Aria Froyo 2.2 kernel source code that was released this week, too. The OC won't affect battery life if you don't enable it.

Yes, bad wording. when I tried setcpu there was no option to go higher (ability or "stubs" not there)
I've since gone up to gene's oc kernel with no problems so far.

Yes you will loose Root but it will always be unlocked. LISTEN find a 2.2 ROM here and flash it. Any 2.2 ROM here is better, faster, more stable, and will have a better battery life than the stock 2.2. If you dont know how to flash a ROM yet then search and read. There are alot of tutorials here on how to do it. Luck homie.

RCmix is pretty nice as well, but if you want stable, definitely go for Virtuous Unity. don't get me wrong, RCmix is a very nice port of sense 3.5, best out there for the HTC Glacier. there's just still a few things here and there to fix, and then it would be beast. but as of now, Virtuous Unity is the best rom out there for the HTC Glacier.

Latest ICS for Defy not working on Bravo

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20056083#post20056083
It's sad I think it's because it runs on 2.3.4+ kernel version. The older one was 2.2. What can we do?
Why can't we change our kernel

What we need is that developer who is working with it now, to create a rom without the new kernel, I think walter79 is working them, I'll asking him.

Since we really have no true devs we are going to have to look for one with knowledge of code. We may have to donate some money to someone to get them a bravo unless there's someone with an extra that is willing to let someone use it. That's our true problem is that the defy, Atrix, galaxy s, and other phones have support from cm and alot of experienced devs that have been developing since the magic and hero days.

Yes, the results from the excellent tip: Well first I moved over the framework and apps like rdanner said, and it worked! Then I moved over the ect folder for working gps and better working wifi and such, and it also worked and booted! It runs pretty well, but the only problem is 3D (egl libs) don't work with the 2.2 kernel (this is a guess kind of, I'm guessing it needs the 2.3 kernel). Any time I move over newer libs from the newer build I get stuck at the moto screen. I still suggest people to try it out though, I don't have the signal working yet I don't think unless it already works...maybe try playing with the baseband switcher. The build is pretty smooth and wifi and orientation both work good...
Try it here
ICS gapps here
After install wipe data/factory reset and cache and dalvic cache maybe... I would boot it up first and do gapps after it's booted. Have fun, and thanks again rdanner!
