Does any have the original(Elocity official) Calendar.apk, that they can provide?
At some point I must have deleted mine in favor of one that someone posted when DexterMod(1.31) has FC issue.
I have ran the official update.zip from Elocity and i have no calendar app.
Please provide Calendar.apk and CalendarProvider.apk
Thank you.
throw it to ya in about 3 or 4 hours when the kids goto bed, if someone else doesnt beat me to it.
..figured out howto mount system.imgs (i'm still green in linux) now i'm set to extract anything ya want.

there is no calendar or calendarprovider.apk in the latest elocity firmware. that occurred to me earlier, as i recall there wasn't google calendar services available after throwin' gapps on the misses tablet.
i'm not sure if it would do you any good, as you indicated that 1.31 elocity firmware had fc's. i'm not sure if thats changed in 1.41, as i haven't compared the 2 versions.
but for fun, i zipped up an update zip containing the calendar.apk and calendarprovider.apk provided in dexter's 1.41 rom, but he did indicate that inserting his signed files shouldn't work on the official firmware. the rest of the gapps did work, so this MIGHT work too. it could also send you into a bootloop causing you to have to reflash your choice of dexter's firmware or the factory (there actually could be less destructive ways to recover using adb, but i may not have the time to assist with that if you're not already familiar with such steps).
my uneducated guess; should work based on my last gapps experiment. i can't test until saturday morning.
to note; 603 of the 692 files from dexters rom are factory, including some 44 system apk's (unaltered as a result of signing). kinda leaves me thinking you can add in the calendar files just fine to install, assuming you haven't tried to install them before. if you have, you may need to consult these troubleshooting steps first;
2.) Go into manage applications. Filter to all. Uninstall com.android.calendar.apk and com.android.provider.calendar.apk. Reboot again
3.) Copy Calendar.apk and calendarprovider.apk from this thread across to your SD card. Install both.
4.) If you want, use root explorer to move them from /data/app to /system/app but really not necessary. Reboot again, should sync by default but re-enable if you need to.

you can either rename that to update.zip and flash from recovery, or extract and copy the apk's by hand. whatever you're more comfortable with.
Thanks...
Copied both into /system/app... and clicked on them and it installed fine.
Thank you.
Hi there. D:
I opened a thread here some minutes ago (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23800125#post23800125), where I ask for help for changing my notifications bar.
After opening the thread I discovered the web "UOT Kitchen", so there I just configured my order to just change the notifications bar as I want, uploaded my systemUI.apk and the framework-res one there and later I downloaded the file of my order.
On that file there was (inside of their folders) a new systemUI.apk and a new framework-res file. There was a META-INF folder and another one on the zip, but because I just uploaded the systemUI.apk and the framework-res file, I only copied these two on my SD Card. Then I opened Root Explorer and with it I overwrote the two files inside my Xplay.
After doing this, my Xplay shut down and now it is rebooting forever (it only appears the Sony-Ericsson logo, then the mobile shuts down and then reboots again).
I know what are you going to tell me, "don't touch something if you don't know well what are you doing". I agree with you, but please, tell me that this is easy to solve. PLEASE.
Thanks... T___T
Locked or unlocked bootloader?
Stock ROM (latest update), root, locked bootloader. R800i (Spain).
restore nadroid if you dont have one conect to pc companion and repair the Software..
It's a bootloop. Nothing that Flashtool can't cure
Download Flashtool and the latest firmware (.62) and follow the tutorial on the Q&A thread with all the resources. You won't even lose your data if you untick the relevant option on Flashtool
The issue could have happened because you maybe forgot to give those two files the appropriate file permissions. Since those files are loaded at boot, if they don't have the permissions they aren't loaded, and so the system tries and tries to load then without success, giving you a bootloop.
UOT Kitchen themes are update.zip files. As all update.zip files, they load stuff (in this case the SystemUI.apk and the framework-res) and give those files the permissions they need. If you look inside the META-INF folder you'll find a file called "updater-script". That file contains the permissions that those files are given. If you can replicate those permissions with the Root Explorer GUI, they will load properly on boot and you won't have a bootloop. However, that's difficult to do because you're actually using the SystemUI.apk and the framework-res at the same time that you modify them.
Flashtool basically nukes the system partition (where those two files are located) and flashes the stock one, so you will go back to the stock look. If you don't tick Wipe data, your data will be kept. It shouldn't be a problem, since the thing which caused the issue (faulty SystemUI and framework) is in the system partition.
Logseman, this totorial? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384535
And where can I find the latest firmware?
Thanks for your quick answers, guys.
PD: I didn't say it but, I saved my original systemUI and framework-res files before overwritting them. Is there any way to use them? I say it because I had a little mod on the notifications bar with switches...
Still looking for a download link for the 4.0.2.A.0.62 update, I don't find it...

There isn't one , just download the .42 one and update after. IF this doesn't work use SEUS - it can take up to 20 retries for it to work but it will work eventually (I've reflashed using it more than a couple of times where this was needed =|)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409355
Just download SEUS Sony ericsson update service and update your xperia play with it and it will all be so good as new
If you have cwm installed, you can fix everything in recovery via adb shell without wiping data...
(When its booting open up command prompt, type in adb wait-for-device then when you get the next command prompt, type in adb reboot recovery)

Ok, I flashed 0.42 with flashtool, updated to 0.62 with PC Companion and my Xplay is back to life xD
Now some questions...
1- I was rooted, have I lost root?
2- I lost the switches on the notifications bar. I have the systemUI and the framework-res files I had before all this mess. Is there any way to reinstall them to have again the switches?
3- Once everything is solved... How do I change the colour of the notifications then? xD
Onlock bootloader... Makes everthing way easyer and we can help you better becouse most of us have unlocked bootloader. ;-)

Hum, yes, i'm interested in unlocking my bootloader, but first there's the first question of my last post wich I think is very important, because when I got root I unisntalled some games like Fifa or the Sims and now they're back.
You have lost root indeed.
just connect you phone to Sonyericsson Update service ,
flash that

Just re-root with this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312859
You don't need the VERY latest firmware just .42, stop messing with your phone or if you do unlock the bootloader and make regular nandroid backups and before you want to mess around with system files
For god's sake it's about time someone stickied these two things, especially for noobs:
1. DON'T uninstall system apps. Freeze them and when you're sure everything's fine, say after a day or two, delete them. You can freeze with the pro version of titanium backup or with systemcleanup free. sure there are other apps too.
2. When replacing system files, copy the new files to /SYSTEM first. Change permissions there (if you don't know what permissions are or what permissions to set, STOP NOW and read up), and THEN move the files to the appropriate locations.
Too many problems because these simple steps were missed.

Due to repeated radio connection freezes I tried using an old radio version from stock Froyo plus corresponding baseband files. So far so good, I do have call connection.
I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459470
I failed trying to create my first update.zip with the baseband files. I got some strange error 7 or so... used root explorer to copy/past files and changed permissions.
Question:
Permissions have to be 644 right?
How about the owner? Do I have to change it and to which owner?
/edit: I added the files I used, maybe someone else wants to try as well.

What exactly does 'old radio version from stock Froyo plus corresponding baseband files' mean? What files did you replace?
The 'Central europe Hong Kong, Taiwan, ... 4.5.1-85' setting in baseband switcher should exactly match the stock German Froyo baseband files (I've compared MD5 sums).
I didn't know the baseband is the same.
Well I extracted CG45.smg from official DACH froyo: JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_177-003_BLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_UCAJRDNEMARAB1B80AA03A.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNFRYORTDACH_P014_A009_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf
and flashed it.
And because I read I had to use suiting baseband files I got them from an old Nandroid backup and placed them on the bp_nvm_default folder.
Sorry if that is a bad idea but I really want to fix the connection bug and since switching basebands or builds didn't help at all I thought that might be a chance.
I confess: My knowledge is VERY limited.
/edit: Reason for this action was that my buddy has the same phone with stock eclair and his baseband is totally different from CM7. That's when I thought: Uhm maybe it helps to swap the radio drivers.
BTW: Log has got quite a view RIL warnings.
Questions go in the Q&A section
not only a question, info too! but well...
well, my test is over. yesterday I had the radio bug again. so that wasn't the solution.
I've been using AdFree on 4.2.2 and just did the OTA 4.3 update this morning, I've noticed that my host file which was written by AdFree still exists, mind you I have no way of reverting to the default host file due to no longer having root on 4.3...
the hosts file isnt checked during ota as it doesnt change between them.

So the question now is - am I stuck with this modified host file unless I root on 4.3.... because it's protected isn't it.
Yup, you are. An alternative would be to wipe your phone after a backup (for instance with Helium), and restore afterwards.
I'd like to block OTA updates - my very old Incredible had a way to do it either via a mod on a ROM or by removing some .apk file I believe.
Is there an .apk responsible for checking for new OTA updates that I can rename or remove?
Ideally it'd be reversible once it's known how the update affects a rooted phone. Really wish VZW would just allow you to pass on updates instead of forcing them on phones.
Also, not interested in going beyond adb root on this phone so ROMs aren't really an option, I actually think stock is fine. I'd be happy with the phone as is for the next two years until my next phone even.
I try not to delete or remove files but rather just rename them.
Disable OTA Update Notification
/system/etc/security/otacerts.zip
rename to otacerts.zip.bak and reboot.
