Hello,
I only just purchased a Nexus S and within the first few hours of testing it out the battery died at the "Unlock Bootloader" screen (this one: http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/thumb_550_Nexus-S-oem-unlock.jpg)
Since then I've had that text come up faintly on the screen. Wanted to ask if anyone's experienced anything similar?
I'm going to let JScreen Fix run overnight and see if it helps. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Return it.

I did a search here, and most issues ive read similar to this is because the battery is old, and can be recalibrated.
however, i noticed mine shuts down and turns off at around 13-15% and its just a week old.
anyone else having the same problem? or is this a problem at all?
There was another person on here, his was shutting down at 25% but he was rooted and unsure if the issue lie with the rom.
Sent from one of my devices, you nosey bastards.

I did saw a battery calibration tool here but it needs to be rooted and need to reflash rom,
don't really want to reflash rom,
although battery does last about 7-9 hrs of active usage before it goes to 15% then it dies after that.
My unit does something similar,at when it hits about 7%. It shuts down and won't boot or do a hard reset, as if the battery is dead. I'm already going through with an RMA however for the screen. When the replacement arrives (any day now) I'm going to see if that one does it too.
Hopefully a software update will be ale to fix this.

Anyone else having the same issue? want to know if i'll ask for a replacement, or just stick with it.
Im actually overseas, and sending it back will be expensive.
Mine does this too at around 11-12%. Was watching a video, got the low battery warning at 11%, then it just turned off. I'm already RMAing it for ghosting and screen separation - think mine was assembled at 4:59pm on a Friday.
Searched for related threads but no luck ... anyone experiencing this problem?

I sit with mine on my desk while I work and Ill sometimes look up and the screen will be on when I know its been locked for a while. it doesnt seem to matter if its plugged in or not.
I was thinking it might have to do with my ROM (paranoidandroid) but if other people are experiencing this it might not be.
its an app or process waking the device. or a bad power connection that connects and disconnects(if plugged in).
Mine isn't even unlocked or rooted... soooo who knows what it can be lol

I'm having the same issue, but only when my N7 is being moved (even gently!). Several times, I've manually put the device in standby (with the power button), or I let it idle and then go into standby, but when I pick it up, the screen turns on. I haven't noticed the screen turning on while it's sitting still on a flat surface, but then again, I haven't really hawked the device while it was sitting still. This wasn't an out-of-the-box problem. It just started happening on my 3rd day of use.
Anyways, this gets pretty frustrating when I have my tablet in my bag or pocket. I checked to make sure I wasn't accidentally hitting the power button to wake the tablet back up by putting the device on standby and then gently tilting the tablet. That was enough to trigger the screen to turn on.
The power button doesn't appear to be visibly loose either. (My tablet doesn't go into standby when I jostle it, if that matters?)
By the way, I haven't really moved my N7 while charging, so I can't verify whether or not this issue occurs during charging as well. But I guess I can rule out charger issues. Maybe something's loose?
Side notes: I AM unlocked and rooted; did this on day 2. Haven't gotten any new apps between the time my tablet last acted normally and the time when it started turning on during sleep (during day 3).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Might be the smart case magnets. Putting magnetic stuff near the screen turns it on.

This almost always is caused by a rouge app. Use watchdog (there is a free version in the market) this can help pinpoint what app is misbehaving. Also, if possible try to get a logcat of this, of course if it feels random it may be hard to capture the information needed but if you do you will no exactly what the problem is
Oh and as a side note, wakelock issues can happen to nonrooted phones/tablets just as easy as with rooted ones

I'm having this issue as well... But I can't figure out what the heck is causing it! Anyone find a solution? I'm using Paranoid Android... could that be an issue?
No one find the solution yet? In stick and rooted and having the same problem.
Why is the door on the right always locked?
Fully updated stock not rooted on 4.2.1. I first noticed this issue after updating to 4.2. Screen wakes every 3 to 5 minutes and stays on for @30 seconds each time. I left it sitting on the couch next to me while watching TV last night.
So it is affecting the stock ROM as well.

Trying not to get aggravated but it's annoying the heck out of me that i can't track down the source of the issue.

Have you pulled a logcat?

Why is the door on the right always locked?
had the same problem. It was an calendar widget app that cause the all 30sec screen on. I have deleted the app and it's all fine now.
Which app?
Why is the door on the right always locked?
Quick Agenda. Replaced with Simple Calendar Widget.
I have neither. Too bad

Spolier alert! This is the plot of Paranormal Activity 5. Possessed N7s. At the end it turns out it was iOS the whole time. It would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for us meddling XDA folk.
Serious note I have had this happen before and as previously stated it was a rogue app accessing background data.

All was well untill i was off on holiday for a week. I had kept my nexus 7 on standby ti check how the battery fairs. Anyway, while using it, it suddenly switched off at 14% battery. I then charged it to 100% and started using it.
After using it for 30mins there was no change in battery % n it still showed 100% ( weird i know ). Eventually it started depleting as normal until it got down to 14% n shutdown. Then it wouldn't charge when plugged in anywhere, had to press the power button foe 30sec or more for it to boot up again.
Now my question is, Is there a way to fix the faulty battery indication without rooting the device? (And i know you all will be thinking of suggesting a factort reset, but i don't want to lose my gaming progress).
Any suggestions will be helpful.
Thanks.

I have had a few N7 that exhibit this behavior. Also haven't figured out a way to fix it either, I exchanged the early ones I had and the C8 I have now goes at 8% as well and to avoid it, I just charge before it hits 20%. I know its not a fix and now that I've flashed the new 4.1.2 I am waiting to run it thru a charge to see if maybe it was a bug with JRO03D.
Here are a few threads I've posted in where I've seen people talk about the same thing, nobody actually knows or has posted a fix other than to exchange and hope the new one doesn't do it:

Bought a refurbed 32GB WiFi from sears on Jan 2nd and had no issues except for a screen flicker. I was running a CM10.1 build from around Jan 26th and the latest Motley Kernel.
Yesterday I was using the tablet as usual, but I hadn't charged it in a couple of days
so the battery was getting low. After I got home from work I went to use it but the screen wouldn't come on. I figured the battery had died so I went to charge it, but I never got the powered down battery animation. I've tried holding down all 3 buttons for at least a minute and nothing is happening, and when I connect to my computer I get a USB not recognized error.
I have about one day to return the device to sears with the 30 day warranty, but I just thought I'd check to see if anyone else was able to resolve a similar issue before I do so that I don't lose all of my data, and the fact that if they do get it running again that its rooted and running CM.
Any suggestions, or should I just take it back?

Sounds like the Nexus has had it, take it back is most likely the best option

AW: Tablet bricked itself?
One thing I learned from here, is that I never ever should let the nexus 7 run out of juice. Seems to be a death sign..
Jup, take it back.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Not a death sign.
You just need to let it sit on the charger for about 1/2hr, then it should boot right up. People panic when the device doesn't respond or screens start flashing, but it won't boot and they start mashing buttons and posting about their 'I think I bricked my device'. After a device has run down it might take a long press of the power button to get it to boot and/or sit on the charger for a bit.
Running the battery down should not be confused with the Sleep Of Death (SOD). The fix for an SOD is also a long press of the power button.

try connect to charger at least a half an hour, then press just power button for 1 minute. i had similiar issue, and it worked for me. if dont work, maybe you got battery connector loose problem. try search in general section about that.
Yes, I know I know this question has been asked a million times on here. I have tried looking through past forums & none hold my unique problem. Just please, help you guys. OH MY GOD! My phone will not hold its charge and ive literally tried EVERTHING. I have a nexus galaxy and one night it decides to not charge after I connect to about 3 different chargers. I take it to Sprint & they tell me the port is busted so they replace it & it works fine. I charge it at home & the little battery icon says its charging but the battery itself is getting lower & lower. That makes no sense. How could it obviously say its charging but the freaking battery not charge? so I go in again & they give me a new battery. Still to no avail. I even bought a new charger and when I come home to charge it, the battery gets lower as if its not being charged. the lock screen says its charging but when I log into the phone & check the battery options on settings, it says its not. its so frustrating and I don't know what else to do. please help! is it probably something internally wrong with the phone to where I have to replace it to a whole new one?
Wrong section bud. This isn't the nexus galaxy forum, it's the nexus 4 forum.
