Modern combat 2... Force close!... I have a fix!!!

This is a tip i just found for modern combat 2 on the xperia play.., this is using a genuine copy of modern combat 2 on a stock xperia play ...
I bought the game this morning went to play it and all i got was FORCE CLOSE (process com.gameloft.android.GAND.GloftBPHP.ML) GRRRRRRR! So after trawling through google for 30mins i found some dude who had a way to get it working...
1..open the game with pad slid in (in the apps menu) it might work with the pad slid out too
2.. then youll get force close blah blah blah...click close or ok or whatever
3.. now hold on your home key so recent apps appear on screen
4.. now click modern combat 2 in recent apps and it works!!!
hope this helps somebody cos i was pissed off when mine didnt work, thanks goto some dude on a random forum i tripped up on.
if this is old news delete this thread BUT if its useful to ya, gimme a HELL YEAH!!!

hell yeah? its a pretty inexcusable workaround to a problem that shouldn't exist. after paying for something that was supposed to be tailor made to my device i expect it to work properly without having to resort to some bogus workaround.
plan to be more careful when purchasing gameloft games in the future because the response they gave me was more of the same, and that is just weak IMHO.

yeah i agree it should work without the need of this, but itll do for me till they have a proper fix, maybe theyll patch the game. it might be my end because i installed some bogus versions of the game first that i later uninstalled but maybe they might have upset it abit lol...
anyway man just done 30mins multiplayer on capture the flag with about 8-10 in the server and was surprised how good it was, oh i had to register via my laptop with gameloft live cos trying to register in the game caused FORCE CLOSE again, but once registered u can log in and it all works good
see u on the battlefield soldiers ill stab u all in the boob

I had this problem, i kicked up a fuss and gameloft gave me an extra game for free!

I had the same problem and this does works (HI5!) however I agree that its not acceptable on the part of Gameloft. This game was advertised on this device and it was in the Xperia Play app, clearly its just a minor bug that could have caused havoc, and I have also told Gameloft what I think (hopefully a free game!).
Hopefully I will see you guys playing online.

But good idea for posting it here it will get seen more and be more helpful to people having this problem.
I noticed it force closes when the os does something like say you press the home button it will force close and you will have to start again from your last save which is annoying. This problem must be down to a conflict with the SE software as problems still exist with phone rooted and debranded.

I was having the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S2 and (much to my surprise!) this work around actually WORKS!
Just debating whether to accept the free game they've offered me and carry on playing! Its really bad that Gameloft are allowing this to happen, so I wont feel too bad.

What's the debate? Just pick the free game and play the two. The cost for Gameloft to send you a link to another game is 0: plus, the glitch is their fault in the first place, and they seem lazy to correct it. If they're too lazy to give you proper service, why should you get restless about exploiting their policies?

Hahah i discovered this by myself thinking that I had solved a worldwide issue I searched for forums to announce my discovery and tell everyone to get a free game as well
Unfortunately you beat me to it but I still suggest everyone get a free game for their **** up on not being able to code properly for fking android.

This happens to a lot of my Gameloft games.

I've sent Gameloft an email about this, but never got a reply

Watch out for game loft rip-offs

I tried to buy a couple of games from game loft on their buy one get one free deal. I clicked and it didn't look like it downloaded. So I clicked again. Guess what? I bought it twice. Also I selected s free game and guess what? I was charged. So my sd card died. I got a new one and re-downloaded the one game and somehow I clicked and didn't think it worked so I clicked again.
And the second game was gone! So I called game loft to find out I was charged for all these games and the one didn't work on the play so they removed it. So they wouldn't remove the charges and made me choose different games. I will never buy another game loft game. Also if you want to download your games you have to go to a specific section of their site to re-download your games. So for the $5 game I'm being charged $25.
That said, I love the Spiderman game. Just make sure you download only once and get the Spiderman game. It is worth the price and works perfectly on the Play.

Same here!

I had a problem with them re-issuing download instructions after I had to wipe my device, but they finally came back to me (2 wks) and gave me a free game to apologise for the delay.
In the meantime I had figured out that my Dolphin browser cache had the inital download file, so i was able to kick it off again to get it installed. I now have these files saved elsewhere for when a custom rom gets cooked

Been meaning to ask about this.
I bought 4 Gameloft games on Sunday for £1 each.
I have backed up the .apk files that downloaded.
Am I set if I ever need to reinstall?

You can redownload your games it is just not obvious on how to do this and you could accidentally pay over and over. I don't know how much £1 is but I paid $5 Canadian for mine.

Update: This game is mentioned Free but in fact it's not a Free games it's a trial Game.
EA might need to check the definition of FREE on dictionary...

The Tom Clancy one had FREE on the icon.

You have to go into the xperia play app (when you slide the screen up) and select More games on the bottom and it should be in that list. If not you need to update your play app. I had a bunch missing until I updated the play app.

For me Tom clancy and asphalt 6 had/have FREE on the icon and the ones that just say free after you go in where just trials. I'm keeping my finger crossed. If any Canadians can confirm this please do.

I have NFS hot pursuit on the Ipad/iphone and love it.
It would be nice to have hot pursuit on the play. I have shift on the PS3 I think.

rainbow 6 is still showing up for me as free on mine launcher and NFS isnt

need for speed has always said free on the ea shop, you buy it in app with a premium rate sms

that explains it. The EA ones are trials and the Gameloft ones are full free games.
Edit: Had me excited there.

I can confirm the Tom Clancy game is the Full Game. Not Demo in Canada. make sure you have a bit of time to DL tho.

I have gone to the EA store and got the apk there. and installed it.
For the moment i'am still working on making rainbow six works and to tell you the truth since now one week i'am writing to gameloft concerning this problem and they seems to have corrected the problem on both games Sacred Odyssey and Rainbow Six but i don't have the update prompt and it makes me mad.
that's why for the moment i was a little busy and didn't have the time to test NFS.
I will do my test later today and post here concerning the release i got. If it's just a Trial i will put that in the First Post and might change the topic too.
Please continue to check it might be a real full version FREE.

i went back to 2.3.3 because people said rainbow 6 and sacred were fixed but neither of them work for me

Rainbow Six now works for me i'am gonna check this NFS right now.

Great Rainbow Six WAS actually free here. But the game somehow didn't worked. After checking it again on the Gameloft page it says 3,49€ -.-.
Is it allowed to ask for the working apk here?

Reinstall gameloft games previously purchased. Edit: Solved

My microsd card became corrupt today, and I had to format it. When I go to a previously bought game (Let's Golf 2) from the Xperia Play games launcher, it says I have to purchase it again, and asks for a payment method. This is also the case for Rainbow Six. Any ideas how I can get these to download again?
Edit: My bad, it's on the My Account page of their mobile interface.

None of my games show up on my account page on their website.
I purchased nearly all of them then reformated my phone and lost them all. Only Asphalt 6 shows up.
I emailed their customer support who got back to me and said if they dont show up, re-email them and they will fix it.
I didnt bother though. Once you complete most games you kind of get bored with them anyway.
But yea, for most people you can re-download stuff via your account page.

Never email them. They take about two weeks to reply, directly call them and issue solved in 20kinutws.

If u have x10 then it doesn't support asphalt 6
No idea about the rejected payment

Well i figured it out,as it was my first transaction,google automatically deducts 1$ for adding my debit card to google wallet !! dunno if it returns it back too
I was trying to re-add my card to google wallet and then i found out about it !!

I checked on my sister's sg2 and there was a racing game she could could get for 10p that wasn't compatible with our X10, shame but these are still great offers.

Get asphalt 6 for her phone

Thats the racing game i was on about, couldn't remember the name of it. I was going to get it on her phone but she hasn't set up her payment details properly and it was light so i just left it to the next day, i didn't know that the apps for 10p changed daily then so ive missed out.
I got GLWG for 10p which is good fun, im just stocking up on good 10p games even if they wont work well on our x10 ready to play on whenever i get a new phone or tablet.

trouble downloading from market
hope someone can help me on this.
been trying to download some of the featured discounted apps but it keeps saying "error occured. please try again." i also tried on other regular paid apps (outside the discounted section) and i still get the same error. free apps i can download no problem.
i thought it has something to do with where i am (Philippines) but when i try to do it via pc browser, the paid apps get pushed to my device with no problems.
any of you have any thoughts on this?
