Looks interesting. I'm not going to get excited about it until I find out about battery life. If it's much better than the Streak then I may make the jump...
Yup that's me too.No decent battery life,no change.
One thing I know for sure is that it'll have better camera/camcorder )
I am sure, but besides that the leap wouldn't be a huge one.
i wonder if it has a 4.3" screen or 4.5". it looks like an att version of the galaxy 2s which actually has 4.3".
Its 4.5". Single core 1.5ghz overclocked hummingbird cpu.

I love my wife's HTC Inspire.
Looks interesting, but the only way ill move from my 5 inch screen is for a smartfone with same screen size, but better resolution, and dualcore. Nothing else really tempts me at the minute.
meh...
Doesn't have the snapdragon processor, plus the one it does have is overclocked.
I like my streak better. The promise of Netflix coming to Android devices with the snapdragon processor will keep me on my streak for a good time to come. Or at least when it's officially determined that Netflix isn't going to happen.
I'll probably check it out (I got an upgrade available the 1st of June), cause I REALLY miss the AMOLED screen on my Captivate. BUT I REALLY DON"T wanna give up my FREE Hotspot & Tethering.

I was the same way. I bought an inspire and took it back, tried the atrix and returned it. Now I have an att band nexus s. For some reason this screen looks even better than my captivate did.
I'm going to buy the infuse on launch day and hope it gets lots of dev love. If not ill sell it and get an sgs2 whenever it gets here, if my wife doesn't kill me 1st.

I will be sticking with my streak. Not downgrading my screen. The infuse is not going to make me not miss my streak. Will wait for next streak 5.

you should look that up again. its the the newer generate of snapdragons. the qsd8250 which is in the streak and came out years ago, doesnt support hardware level drm. if netflix does work on the streak, it should work on the infuse also.
Now it is out, who has upgraded to the Samsung Infuse?
Not me. Will not happen.
Sent from the Dell Streak powered by 1.9.0
Not for me either. Tried it out today at ATT store. The screen was bright and beautiful. Camera is better than the Streak but GPS still not working properly. Inside ATT store, the Infuse got a lock for a few seconds, lost the lock, and not able to re-gained the lock again. Doesn't looks like Samsung knows how to implement GPS function correctly.
Im switching..
Reasons:
Tired of having to go through dell for ANY support. (whenever I go into an AT&T store they ask me what phone I have and if I have verizon..).
I can't really use the streak with one hand. I'm a teenager and need to be able to multitask.. Lol.
2.2?? Wheres my 2.3? Tired of prolonged updates.
No matter what rom I use, DJsteves or stock, theres always something effed up or just simply doesn't work.
Gotta jump to 4g sooner or later...
I got the streak when it first came it out and have used EVERY streakdroid rom from the very first. I'm now on my third streak. (if you complain and complain dell eventually gets tired of you and just sends you a new phone btw..) I think I gave it a good run. Dell should have just stuck to what they know, computers.
Idk I don't want a phone that can break from sitting down with it in your pocket. I feel like no matter what I'm doing I ALWAYS have to be cautious and worry about my phone. Plus I've always loved samsung. They make really great products idc what anyone else says.
no dual core, 2.2 only?
Typical...at&t shafts the users....
I think I'll hold out till the S2 comes out. AT&T is only giving "us" a 1.2ghz none dual core, only comes with 2.2 which has been out what, a year now?
The screen is nice, AMOLED, but I'll hold off til I see the S2 with dual core, 2.3/2.4 etc...

Hopefully Sprint will get a version. I know it's gsm, but I hold out hope for a dual core snapdragon.
I still think the Galaxy phones with the HummingBird and GPU will own for quite a while. Technically your hero is dual Core already. Just one core is really tiny and slow (modem core).
By the time that comes out, something better will be on the horizon like it is right now. Phone technology is advancing fast. I'm going for the galaxy.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm 33 years old. My first computer was an Tandy 1000. My next computer was a Pentium 166. I remember when processors were coming out every month or so, edging the cap up just a little bit higher. I remember them having a starting price worth more than the car I owned at the time.
So pick a phone, buy it and be happy with it for a year. If you're always waiting for the next best thing, you'll never buy anything. If you always get pissy when you buy something and something better comes out, just stop buying.

im actually thinking about giving the evo a second chance now that 2.2. is out for it. i now have an extended battery for it too. i won't touch a samsung phone.
Why you would consider the Samsung over the evo. The battery life is not much greater on the galaxy S series. Got a few co workers with both version (vibrant, captivate). We compare and contrast every day. They are all great phones but would not swap none 4 the other. Plus the evo got that 4g along with a front facing cam only if u were thinking of the epic 4g.

I can't imagine needing a dual-core CPU phone, how much quicker than a modded N1 or Evo can you really get, not saying I wont buy one when they are out but still..
The Sprint Galaxy S has a section on XDA... I might go for that. I'm not picky about what brand name the phone is as long as I can crack smack hack and whack.
I'm 25 and my first computer was a commador 64. I didn't get another until Pentium 4 was out. That's a big jump. Yup always something a little better around the corner.
I can't wait till I can run Wine and play my game on my phone.
As far as saying you don't need faster than the evo or n1, it depends on what you are trying to run. Try putting windows 7 on that old comadore. What's the famous quote by bill gates saying computers would never need more than a few megs of ram?
And I wouldn't want to get a Samsung either but I do like the proc/gpu and physical keyboard

I'm up for upgrade in December from my Hero, but hopefully this rumored HTC "Sabor" is coming out around that time..
Supposedly it's the "Evo 2" and sounds VERY nice.
Link missing, since I can't post it... Recap below:
5. HTC SABOR- HOLY CRAP. Do you remember me talking about the HTC Scorpion, a rumored 1.5 ghz device? Well Sprint gave that one up. Sad? NOOOOO! Instead they are getting the HTC Sabor (code name ofcourse) that is a 2ghz (or possible dual core depending on who you talk to) device to compete with the 2ghz moto device coming to Verizon wireless late this year!!!! THANKYOU SPRINT?! This change was recently made as this phone will be the successor of the Evo and will hit shelves either Q4 2010 or Q1 2011. This is all dependent on the moto release date. Be looking for an over 1000 res screen (possibly that 1270 res Google is allowing), android 3.0 (gingerbread), 2 cams one being a 10 mp, 1080p recording,& kickstand =]. This device will essentially be the Evo 2, and is rumored to be the gingerbread flagship device. Naturally WiMAX is expected. More on this one hopefully coming soon.

At 20-30 secs in, they mention it has an IPS LCD display. LG makes the Retina display for Apple and a quick google of IPS LCD pretty much only mentions the Retina.
I know the LG Black has that new screen but if the O2X has a retina, I'd bite.
Yeah, I like the LG too.
How much Ram does it have, does anyone know? Can't seem to get a definitive answer anywhere.
I'm still leaning a little more towards the Atrix though.
Atrix>X2: Higher resolution, much bigger battery, gorilla glass, FM radio, 16 gig internal vs 8, plus all the docks.
X2>Atrix: Higher res camera - pics and videos
Nice to see the Atrix is coming with all sorts of codecs included too. If they would take away motoblur and slap a xenon camera on it, it would have (on paper) been the ultimate device. Still kinda is... The only kind of let down I see is that the screen doesn't appear to be as good as the LG, the colours from what I can tell don't seem to be as vibrant. Hope I'm wrong...
Atrix has Motoblur. I'm not a fan of custom skins due to software updates taking forever, but Blur=Bad.
This will be my next phone too.. I was thinking of getting the Nexus S, but the lack of expansion slot turned me off...
Atrix is Motorola and Verizon, guys--the 4G is LTE, not HSPA+. Not T-Mobile.
Knowing Motorola, it's got blur puked all over it and has a locked bootloader. No thanks.
With the specs on that phone, and tha dockability of it, i'd take it with blur 1.0 much less the current one. The current blur isn't that bad. It's a keeper as far as i'm concerned...

I want to see if HTC has anything up their sleeve for T-Mo. I hate Sense but they update their phones. ::looks at Evo::
holy ****, a phone that runs nvidia graphics?
i read on the mobile buzz widget that tmo will probably get the lg black while att will probably get the 2x, i hope the rumor isnt true but we all know that tmo almost always gets the short end of the stick.
You guys do know that this phone beastly or not eden beats our galaxy s device when it comes to graphics. On nenamark1, galaxy s scored less than 5 fps lower than the optimus 2x on 2.1. I'm pretty sure my phoney is future enough. Not worth to upgrade for any phone. Also ip as is never as good as the super amoled for games movies and anything like that.

According to the leaked VZW roadmap, verizon is getting the phone sometime in may. If samsung can redeem themselves from the froyo debacle, I would consider this.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
It doesn't make much sense for VZW to release the Droid Charge, and then this a month later. Plus, I'm guessing each US carrier will make alterations to this like they did with the original GS line. That would push a release back to the summer at the very earliest. Just my .02
cant wait till it comes out!! IMO Sammy phones rock, even without 2.2.1 the Fascinate is freakin awesome, I can only imagine how much better the sgs2 will be! As long as it does come with Bing on Vzn I'm buying this as soon as it drops!! LTE 2x core sammy phones on the way!!

This is the International version much like the Galaxy S 9000 vs the i500 that we have. Essentially ours is gimped as compared to the 9000 and likewise our LTE version might be losing some features.
However, this looks nice. Problem I do see is what specific chip. So far Netflix and Sony's next media peice (Playstation Suite) will only work with Tegra2 chips and it doesn't sound like this phone has the Tegra2.
Other than that, this phone looks sweet and I can't wait to see what LTE Verizon's version will be like. Though I'm still considering an eventual HTC as they are better standard UI and better at updating.
I don't see any reason to opt for this. Dual core is a plus on paper, but IMO not that huge of a one for me (nothings really taking advantage of it yet, and it's not like the single core processors were slow as is). I also don't like the larger size (the Fascinate is at the high end of what I think of as reasonably sized... the 4.3" phones I've seen so far look comically oversized... amazing what .3" will do!), and Samsung+Verizon will probably make sure we get it running Eclair just because they like us so much.
Next time I buy a phone, I'm gonna first look to see how mature the mods are for it first, and make sure there aren't widespread issues with any of the hardware in it not working (GPS still doesn't work for me!).
F Samsung to high hell!

How is our phone gimped compared to the i9000 outside of the software department? We are one of 2? phones that have a LED flash for the camera. We don't have a FFC, but then again, most of the SGS phones released in the US don't have one either, so it is a US thing, not an i500 thing.
Samsung is nice, but they suck on updates. After Omnia and now Fascinate, I doubt I will get another Sammy anytime soon.
I'm quite satisfied with this phone, since we've gotten 2.2. I know, it's not official, but we have it, thanks to the great crew that has worked on it. Imo, it has the best screen going, and you can't beat the profile. It says that the S2 will be coming with 2.3, and the screen and profile are only going to get better. If it's a couple months, or the middle of summer, I plan on getting the S2 when it arrives.
I bought the SF launch day. I will not be getting the SGS2 on launch day. Going to wait and see how the dev community is as well as how Sammy supports or doesn't support this baby. Hardware is stellar but thats only part of the equation as we all learned with the SF
All 3 of samsung's firmware engineers have been working on future products like this instead of supporting the galaxy S I. As such, they all should get kicks in the butts.

Yes they have sucked ass in the update department... but the hardware is pretty nice. The screen is amazing on these phones. I am not very impressed with the display and camera of Optimus 2X which is essentially a G2X
G2X is cool but I still want to wait to see what the Pyramid has to offer.
It would be awesome if Samsung made the Galaxy S II a G-Series phone.
I would wait for the pyramid.
Im going to pick this one up just to sell it when the galaxy s II come out. Im sick of my vibrant as well...

Pyramid is going to have a locked bootloader which may take a long time to crack. I'd go with Samung/LG or anyone who supports open architecture.
G2X is surely tempting but I'd wait for a review to compare camera samples gps lcd etc.
The review from gsmarena for optimus2x doesn't look like camera and display are anything special...it says the lcd is not as good as iphone 4 despite using same technology and teh camera has a blue tint/less saturation and colors don't look very appealing.
Nevertheles, LG has put out a solid device and definitely heading in the right direction.
I'm considering this also. I'm kinda tired of the vibrant and if you have a family plan you can use the other lines upgrades for smart phones if you go through radio shack.

well the SgS II is my option... honestly yes samsung is ****ed up on how they release updates/sources for there phones but SUPER AMOLED! your ****ing high if your gonna give that up... my brother has a Droid x.... i had a HD2 and then a HD7 and after 8 months of my vibrant i wont switch to LG/HTC... . and **** HTC ohhh cool you get updates sooner but the boot loader will take a few months to crack... it took a month just for them to crack the droid X ( let alone the 4.3' screen on that droid ****ing blows... big LCD no clarity?)
**** any think other than SuperAMOLED!
the galaxy s/SGS II's are the BEST phone for your money and proven to preform... ive soft bricked my phone several times learning how to flash/mod
my brother had to get a 500 droid after he bricked his....
if your sick of your vibrant give it to me.... or atleast consider SgS II
as for the cost of the SGS II its most likely gonne be 500-600 bucks WITHOUT CONTRACT/UPGRADE... so more in the 200-300 range.... Gx2 LMFAO my old nokia flip phone has a better camera and screen...
tmobile may not get the galaxys2.
the g2x has only 512mb of ram. the pyramid has 1gb.
so i can see waiting.
unfortunetly i have the money now.
so if apr 12th doesnt include a world release of the pyramid i may have to go g2x.
the screen is comparible to samoled.
not quite as good but still just slightly lesser.

im considering this phone too. Samsung GS2 might take a while for T-mo since they have to add the bands for t-mo's 4G and with the update history samsung has, not really excited about it. The HTC pyramid interested me before, but now i could care less about it. The G2x will have vanilla android, which they stated they chose vanilla android in order to get updates out quickly, so we'll see how that goes. I dont have to renew till november, so we'll see what happens. I just wish the G2x had the NOVA screen. Maybe by the time I can upgrade they'll be more options.
You could get Thrill 4G, it has NOVA screen and 3D recording. It also has OMAP which is faster than Tegra. You'll need to buy it off contract when ATT releases it,

I'm waiting for Intel's i7 mobile to come out... last I heard it is due Q5 of 2011. The first phone featuring the processor is going to have active cooling with running fans. The prototype looks bad ass. It's like a classic American muscle car with a large vent/intake on the hood for its turbos, except on a phone.
For all those people who want to upgrade, but still have a while left on their original contract....
If you call up customer service, and tell them you are thinking about jumping ship, and want to know when your contract is up, they will usually allow you an upgrade, and restart your contract the day you buy the upgrade. I've done this twice now, and I'll do it again when the lgx2 comes out. (you have to do this with customer service, and not at the store. I called up there and *****ed about my vibrant's gps, etc, and they said I could do an upgrade if I wanted.)

I agree that Samsung has delayed the updates etc. But do you not agree they make one hell of a phone?
My Vibrant has been the greatest phone i have ever had, and I'll go right back to Samsung, know why? Samsung may not provide the best timed updates, but look at the other manufacturers. HTC and Motorola both lock bootloaders, and for me its a choice between HTC or Samsung. Samsung clearly wins. Specially with the developers we have here.
Also @ OP
I think the is it Pebble Blue? Looks pretty good, but its being delayed internationally because they screwed up on the battery covers.

If Samsung keeps their phones as easy to root and flash as the Vibrant has been I'll be more than happy to go back. Aside from having to do the hardware GPS fix I've had no complaints with the Vibrant... not to say I wouldn't enjoy the SIII though
As long as you didn't stay on stock (and why would you if you're lurking around these parts of XDA) the Vibrant has been a dream with how easy you can load up what you want. And for a device going on 2 years old it's very impressive how it's held up and is still able to rock ICS builds with minimul issues.
I'm going off the contract grid in a couple of months, and I'll be rolling the Vibrant until the wheels fall off. Next one will probably be the Galaxy Nexus since it probably the least hassle without a contract, but hopefully there's another price drop (come on $300...) before I have to put my good ol' Vibrant out to pasture.
Completly agree with everyone else. My vibrant has been the best phone I've had...true it had its moments, like anything, but it still outruns most new phones. I've had the vibrant for 2 years and it's never let me down (except in the gps department lol). It still runs like new....and actually with all the development it actually runs better NOW then every before lol I will be sad to let it go, but the sg3 will be the first phone that makes me want to move forward....but not because I feel the vibrant underachieves by any means. In fact, I'm donating my vibrant to a good friend of mine who is stuck with a ****ty htc device until he can upgrade. So it will get its use for another 2 years at least.
Since T-Mobile USA isn't LTE yet, I have a good feeling the S3 is going to be Quad-Core. If it isn't, I might get a Galaxy Nexus or wait till September to see what else comes out.
Most probably tmobile sg3 will have krait s4 chip coz specs are out for Canadian 42 mbps HSPA+ and it has s4 dual core chip. On the bright side it has 2 Gb ram

Do you think the 2 gb of ram is necessary?

Not sure if 2 GB it's necessary. But i am pretty pissed with apps closing in the background while browsing in opera and services like my email and Swype closing due to lack of ram in vibrant. Also many games like shadowgun and MC3 just won't run, not because hummingbird soc can't handle, but not enough ram. I believe in long term usage more ram is better than quad core over dual core, when the socs are of the same generation.
