Finally got 1.8.3 (thru computer)
I'm trying to root, but no success (gingerbreak)
It says there "Next launch from command prompt move to where adb is c:/path/to/adb/ and then run the following command"
how do I do that?

I recently did a factory restore on my Fasciate and obviously I lost my roots and etc etc. I tried to root it again using the "How to root" from android central, link that was provided in how to remove bloatware, install clockworks, and root(Can't post links yet) , but no luck. I even looked around and noticed there was another rar file with updated files to pass the "error: device not found" and I followed the instruction to that and I'm still receiving the errors.
What I am doing is :
1) Installed Samsung Drivers
2) Plugged usb + phone waited until it was installed/detected
3) Started the root
4) While the root rebooted my phone I unplugged my usb because people said it was working that way. I was still getting the "Device not found" error so I used the unplug method.
5) Plugged back in after unlocking the device
6) The root proceeded with the "Start Time" message
7) Couple minutes later it says "Successfully exploited yada yada yada" and the "Device not found" error listing 6 times and says it'll reboot my phone which it did not.
8) Looked at my phone and it was frozen with another error that said that various programs crashed, I could not go to the home and had to pull the battery.
9) That's it. Tested if it was rooted or not with Titanium and it does ask for users rights. It successfully granted it but I made sure and tried to freeze an item but it didn't work. So I am assuming the root didn't work.
So if you can help me out with my situation, much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Edit: The error that froze my phone was "com.google.process.gapps has an error" and with an option Force Close
I'm no expert, but how did you go about the factory restoration? You may have to use ODIN and flash a new image onto your phone, the factory restore image in your phone may have been corrupted when you rooted/modded?
Look up the ODIN threads, but follow the directions carefully!
(And ODIN will get you to DL09 right away.)

Thanks but I figured it out, after I was shown the message I rebooted my phone then plugged it back in and ran some CMD commands which rooted my phone. But does using ODIN to get to DL09 really make a difference? What is the major thing that DL09 provides that the DL01 does not. I was stuck will calling Verizon then being transferred over to Samsung for approximetly 2 hours just due to the IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED error from Verizons DL09 update. While in the call they said that DL09 didn't make that much of a difference compared to DL01.
Sorry for the double post. Edits not working on for me on school computer.
If anybody ran into the same problem here are the commands
Open up your CMD start>run>cmd or just search cmd then type the location of your unzipped files for example "cd C:\FascinateRoot_v02" then type the following commands and reboot your phone.
adb shell sh /data/local/tmp/com.sh
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/su
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/Superuser.apk
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/busybox
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/rage.bin
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/com.sh
Hi All,
I installed Androot and recovery flasher and tried to update/backup the recovery.
But i can't. I only got message "backup failure".
As I understand i have to give root permissions to recovery flasher but androot don't ask me when recovery flasher start.
I'm sure, androot works because I give "root" to terminal and adb.
Can I give root manually? Or is any other options?

Hi.
There are a few things we should check, and a few things to try.
1) Try running Androot again and see what happens. Does it say "already rooted" or anything else?
2) When you look at the list of installed apps, do you see the "Superuser" app? If you don't, you'll have to root the phone again and install Superuser.apk before you reboot. If you do see Superuser, open it and check the history and the settings. See if your backup app is listed in the logs.
3) Connect the phone to your PC and open a Command Prompt. Run "adb shell", then try to run "su". If you get "Permission denied", you aren't rooted, or Superuser hasn't been granted root privileges; look at the phone's screen to see if it asks you to "Allow" or "Deny" granting privileges.
4) Try SuperOneClick. I'm not positive, but I think they stopped development of Universal Androot (let me know if I'm wrong about this). SuperOneClick works through adb, so make sure "adb devices" lists your phone when connected to your PC. Download and install SuperOneClick, run it (as Administrator if you use Windows 7 or whatever), and click the Root button.
Once you've tried these steps, we'll have a better idea what's going on. It's possible that you were only given temporary root and it disappeared after a reboot. *shrug*
Let us know what happens. Cheers.
1. It says "already rooted"
2. Yes I see "Superuser' and 2 "rooted" applications "Terminal emulator" and "Unknown". "Unknown" appeared after I connected to the phone by adb shell su bla-bla.
3. See above. It was as you described.
4.Ok. I'll try!

So I used the one-click CWM toolkit (http://www.androidrootz.com/2012/12/nexus-4-one-click-toolkit-for-mac.html), and now my phone has CWM installed, but everything else has been wiped. How do i get the rom img onto the SD card so I can flash it from CWM?
I searched, and found a bunch of instructions saying to use adb, but I have a mac, and I'm not familiar with Terminal commands. I try following the instructions, and after navigating to the folder whre adb and fastboot are, typing the command "fastbook device" returs "-bash: fastboot: command not found"
Can someone please help me?
Thanks
Use the sideload option in cwm to flash the rom
From my BLACKED OUT N4
I ended up figuring it out, using "./adb ____" and got it to all work.
Hi folks!
I wanted to install Cyanogenmod as described in Cyanogenmod Wiki.
So I downloaded ioroot, rootet my phone via adb and used AutoRec to install TWRP (version 2.7.0.0).
Then I rebooted into recovery mode, wiped EVERYTHING and wanted to sideload the CM image via adb.
So in TWRP I selected Advanced/ADB Sideload and swipe to start sideload but all that happens is the notification "Starting ADB sideload feature...".
Consequently the phone is not recognized by adb on my PC.
What can I do to make the sideload feature work?
BTW: TWRP tells me that my devices doesnt appear to be rooted when I want to leave TWRP (reboot). Moreover when i want to enter TWRP again (by pressing POWER + VOLUE DOWN) I first get a screen that asks me if want to do a factory hard reset! Only if I agree (by pressing the power key) I get into TWRP.
Contrary when I enter the Download Mode (VOLUME UP when when connecting the powered off phone to the USB port) I am told that the phone is rooted. Moreover the LG Mobile Support Tool is able to detect the device and tells me that the installed software is up to date.
Thx!!
have you tried typing 'adb sideload rom.zip' on a command window on your pc? name the rom, rom.zip, and have it your adb folder.. also type the command from that folder
Make sure you're in the proper folder in prompt and the device name will be sideload if you do, adb devices.

Thanks but this doesnt help either. Same error message "error: device not found"
boot into twrp, don't start sideload
try adb devices, if you get not find you need to change the usb drivers
when you have it working, type, adb push /sdcard/ rom.zip .. check the syntax on that command, but i think that's right from memory
As the title says. I am trying to use ioroot25 and when I get to the recovery stage to push from adb, the iroot .bat says,
"error: device not found"
This is confusing me because each time I try to do this, I open up a separate cmd window and do "adb devices" and it tells me that my phone is connected. Not to mention that when adb DOES NOT detect my device, I can't even get to this step of ioroot.
All of this comes from me having numerous issues with CM11 (after installing from Malladus 2.0.3, had TWRP as recovery), so I decided to wipe clean and start over again. I used the LG Flash tool and flashed the correct Verizon 24a_11.kdz. Then I tried to root after checking the device was operational and adb couldn't find my device. I then did a factory reset through the phone as the restored version was acting a bit goofy, and this is where I'm at now.
