[Q] Want to change ROM, but need my settings restored... - Desire HD General

... yes, right, I need to backup, I know.
The thing is: when I changed my ROM I normally didn't bother to actually reinstall and configure everything as I upgrade/change not really often. Now I wanted to go from ARHD 3.6 to the current 5.x one with actually _no_ trouble if possible. Is there a way to backup just about _everything_ from a running ARHD 3.6 (from Google Mail settings, to SMS, contacts and WLAN APs, ...) and restore it to the newly installed ROM?
Thanks for any hints,
Marc

Google mail is sync'd with Google mail so nothing to do.
Everything else you can use MyBackUp Pro or Sprite backup for settings, sms etc.
Use Titanium for apps.

Use nandroid in recovery

Another way, if you dont want to restore the same ROM but only Apps, Data & system settings (includeing SMS etc.):
Use Titanium Backup

Restoring data while changing rom

hi to everyone i m kinda new to these things but i have a question and maybe is stupid:
when passing to one rom to another is possibile to restore backupped data like sms/apps etc.. ?
thank you to anyone who is willing to help
Hopefully you're using ROM Manager and Clockwork Recovery to change ROMs, etc.
If so, in there, you can back up a ROM before applying a new one.
If you restore your previous backup, your apps, homescreens, settings, should also be restored.

yes i use those apps but for example if i load cyanogen and try to load a backup with rom manager all i get is that my phone get rolled back with old rom, my point is to have the new rom but with the old data
Personaly i use "MyBackup" to backup system settings, apps, call log, bookmarks, alarms, dictionary, calendar etc., and "SMS Backup & Restore" for messages (it does MUCH better this job then "MyBackup"). Both apps are for free on the Market.

Backing Up Android Before Installing a New ROM

Greetings,
I am currently running sombionix's Stock 2.2 ROM. I am interested in exploring a couple different ROMs, but don't want to go through the work of reinstalling all my apps, settings, data, etc when I find one I like.
What's the best way to back all that stuff up, so I can reinstall it easily over a new ROM?
Do a Nandroid backup. Go into Rom Manager and select Backup Current ROM.
in CWR:
Make a Backup (this is a snapshot of your entire system)
Titanium Backup:
Backup all user apps + Data
I also backup Wifi Hotspots (passwords) and bookmarks
DO NOT BACKUP/RESTORE RED ITEMS
SMS Backup +
For all texts and MMS
LauncherPro / ADW:
Backup settings in their menus

Ti Backup can also backup texts/SMS messages. It's green and labeled either:
[SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage 2.2
[SMS/MMS PREFS] Messaging
True, I just like that with SMS Backup+ they get stored in an SMS folder within gmail, that is searchable!
Unfortunately, on top of all that you probably need to backup (or download identical to yours) kernel version. Nandroid/cwm doesn't back it up, which can be a pain (which is you'll have to have a pc with odin).

Best software to use after rom change to get old data back?

I currently use Titatum Backup. What is the best way to get back all of your old software? What is the best way to get back email and txt messages from your phone before the upgrade? Is there away to backup and restore for all data on phone after ROM change. Big headaches seem to be txt messages and email messages and software. Contacts you can just restore via Google.
Thanks for any help you can give.
I use Ti for apps only. I back up my texts and mms with the stock messenger. Contacts and emial are automaticly restored when I sync my gmail profiles. (I only use gmail email addresses and use the gmail app from the market).
I ran into an issue when I went from my previous rom to synergy rc2 and did a full restore of apps and user data using Ti. Long story short, Ti over-wrote some system files and borked my mms.
I have heard some speak of using appbrain, but I have not used it, so I can not comment on it.

Well if you didn't backup with Titanium, or make a Nandroid backup, there is no way to get that data back.

Texts can be backed up with SMS Backup and Restore. Emails should be on the email server to begin with. Apps can be backed up and restored with Titanium
The guys on the Mik forums recommend Titanium Backup (paid version) for apps and data and MyBackup Root (free on the market) for SMS and MMS messages. I also use it for my alarms and dictionary and neither have let me down yet.
I saved a copy of everything that was on my phone before I changed from stock rom to cm7...how would I then get my messages back to my phone?
I use my backup pro

How to Backup Setting, Contacts or SMS on any Android ROM??

Hi together,
is it possible to backup my current contacts, sms or my system settings from my actual HD2 ROM (Desire HD 3.06.405.1 - Sense 3.0 - Android 2.3.5 [v1.3][HierOS 1.7.2])?? I just want to try some other ROMs but i would like to recover my contacts and sms after doing that...
my contacts get synch'd to google
sms backup to backup and restore sms - plenty of these apps on the market
Use Titanium backup software. You can take trial version from market. I think is perfect for backup everything during reflashing
GL
Mine i think is backed up via my google account
Hello Alex91284. I posed the same kind of question not too long ago Here, and Here. I ended up doing both a Titanium backup, which is great when updating the current rom or restoring to the same type of rom, but I found going from ACA(CM7) to a Sense rom (Runnymede) didn't work out so well for system data and account info (one used an Accounts ap, and the other an Accounts and Sync ap, ect, ect), and also found MyBackup root, which was great for backing up settings and contacts/sms/mms/call log/ect. If your like me and don't want to put your data online in 'the cloud' then I'd suggest using MyBackup root, its free and pretty good. I still use Titanium for downloaded aps though, so I can't say how well MyBackup will work for them.
