I am not able to establish internet settings on Vodafone India network. The settings from the network operator does not work. If i use Vodafone live as APN, i can browse the internet, but when i use Vodafone mobile Connect (VMC) settings, the browser fails. The GPRS data traffic symbol on top shows only one side transmission, no receiving. Plz help.
Also, initially for the first few days it worked, an dthe same SIM card works well in other phone. Also other network works fine on Xperia Arc. The settings are:
Name- Vodafone connect (VMC)
APN- www
APN type- default, supl
MMC-404
Port-11
rest all are blank.
Please suggest a solution soon

If you have a "Sim Toolkit" icon in your programs, try looking into it and you should be able to find the way to contact the ISP to get the settings.
This may vary depending on the ISP and country.
Vodafone switches are not compatible yet. SE and Vodafone working together on resolving this by May 10. Hope that happens.

I signed up to Vodafone and got a 6230i wchich all work perfectly but I'm using the JAM as my main phone.
I've set everything up according to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=12497&highlight=remove+mms+server
but can't connect to Vodafone Live!
Everything else works..TXT, SMS, Internet is all OK.
Any ideas please?
Dave
hi davehutch,
I'm using my magician with vodafone Live! NL
In the past i had the same problem as you. Calling customer services of vodafone turned out that you have to connect via a proxy server for wap protocol. In my case the proxy adress is 192.168.251.150.
Good luck
Thanks for the tip...but
I don't really understand the JAM connection settings, never have.
Where is this address entered? Is it under the My ISP or the My Work Network sections?
Under Settings -> connections -> connections there will probably be a setting vodafone live! or something like that.
tick "set up my proxy setting" and then turn on "This network connects to the internet" and "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet.
when you tick advanced settings you can enter the proxy adress that the vpa should use. in my case that is:
WAP 192.168.251.150 PORT 9201
Secure WAP 192.168.251.150 PORT 9202
once you have entered the settings, go to the pocket internet explorer and go go wsp://live.vodafone.com
please keep in mind that the settings about work for vodafone NL. It is possible that Vodafone UK uses other settings.
Good luck
Thanks for the suggestion
No luck though. I have made progress though. Everything now works: txt, MMS, e-mail, Web, WAP and I even connect to Vodafone Live! but...I only get the text version.
i feel like I'm getting closer but may never actually get there.
Is the JAM WAP level compatible with the graphic version of Vodafone Live!?
thanks for your help so far
Dave
Woke up in the morning and found MDA unable to connect via GPRS... keeps trying but cant connect.
-Checked ALL the settings
-Soft Reset/ Took Battery Out/ Took sim card out
-Hard reset
WILL NOT CONNECT TO GPRS
but connects to the net and am able to connect and check mail when connected to my PC via active sync...
can someone explain this to me...
T-mobile MDA support told me to have sim card tested at local store in another device...
please help
i would check if settings->connections->connections->advanced->select network
was set to my ips or something to that effect
could be that your isp use it's name as setting or something
if it's set to my network or something like that it will only use activesync as connection
it's set to Tmobile data....
I've got the same trouble with my HERMES200...
my operator is Tele2 Russia
other operators work fine
just switching apn from internet.tele2.ru to other right for oher operator...
If there hidden registry keys for modem configuration?
P.S. icq clients are working!!! and some sites like www.yandex.ru & tele2.ru
its very strange...
on other phones my simcard works great with gprs!
P.P.S. Sorry for my english
Hey guys. Im in the united kingdom and ive been using my tmobile locked hd2 from since december. I used goldcard to change to unbranded 1.48 rom. I used to use the wifi router with my tmob chip and had no issues whatsoever.
I just unlocked the hd2 today so I can use my orange sim card. My 3G internet works fine but when I try to use the wifi router it just gets stuck on "connecting to Orange WAP". It seems as if the router is trying to use a Wap connection for some reason and it isnt initialising. My orange settings are called "Orange Internet" and I have no idea where "Orange Wap" comes from. I tried to search and destroy these wap settings but they are nowhere to be seen.
Has anyone ever experienced this issue and/or come accross a solution?
Cheers guys
It usualy gives you the option of all the different network connections available as a choice. You will probably find however that the WAP one is hidden under a Decision Making proxy in advanced network settings if yo have a look.
Have a look there (settings/network/connections/advanced) and see what's in there and let us know.
thanks for your reply. I checked out all the advanced settings but the WAP settings are not present. The wifi router only has one connection for "orange wap". I cannot select anything else.
Most odd, Could always try creating a new connection in the connection settings using the correct network APN settings and see if that option is offered to you in the app. Not ideal, but should work fine, just created a dummy one on my phone, and it's listed in the choices.
tthanks for the tip. I just added 2 extra connections but none of them show up under my wireless router options. I only get one choice in teh radio button selection area and that is "Orange WAP".
I even tried to delete all my connections to see if Orange WAP would dissapear but its still there.

I hav been using MTNL post paid mobile for the last 3 yrs and my htc hd2 configured my gprs settings automatically and i could surf without any problem.
I hav now left mumbai and changed my mobile to BSNL chennai post paid connection. But my HTC HD2 would not configure my mobile to connect to the net. I hav even downloaded the latest connection setup to update my database for the latest settings for all the operators.
for the connection setup i chose BSNL-South(m) and the connection name depicts "CelloneSouth gprs (m) and the APN as bsnlsouth with no username and password. Domain has been left blank and no proxy settings. i selected "This network connects to the Internet".
I hav tried all the possible permutations and combination like inserting username and password as my mobile no. with and without prefixing 91.
BSNL website advices to send SMS typing HTC HD2 to 58355 to get 4 return sms having the gprs settings. but when i sent the SMS I got the reply "Sorry , No available settings for your handset!"
I even edited the APN to bsnlnet after having gone thru loads of sites, but the error msg "Cannot connect for an unknown reason" keeps coming back everytime i try connecting with some changes to the connection.
I even tried doing a soft reset, but no luck.
But the most funny thing is when i insert an Airtel SIM into my HTC HD2 my mobile configures the gprs settings automatically and i connect to the net without a problem.
Can anyone provide me a solution to this varied problem.
Thanx

HI,
I just received My touch 4g as gift from 1 of my US mates.
I inserted my idea sim and manually feeded GPRS settings in handset. WHen i access net through any browser internet works very well.
But when i try to access internet through any applications such as my mail and messanger application it is not able to connect at all. can any body please help.
You can't insert GPRS settings, you put in APNs.
If your phone can access the internet from browser, but can't access internet from anything else - you've put in the wrong APNs.
Yes sSettings was wrong
HI jack,
Yes manual settings which i entered in APN was wrong. Now it has been corrected and i am able to access the net using applications also.
