So guys, two days ago I made my first attempt in making my own theme in UOT Kitchen and faced some problems.I tried to search for "UOT Problems" but you know,I found waaaaaaaaay too many!
What is the problem?Well,I choose another icon set, another battery icon, other statusbar, overscroll glow and animations, and cook after much waiting and swearing.Everything works and changes ok,except for the goddamn icons. It like accepts only the new battery icon, not the whole icon set.For example,I want to set Androidian icons(closest to Gingerbread's stock icons I think?Cause that's what I want),but I'm still left with these fugly Sense icons.Any ideas?Am starting to hate it already!
And yes,I uploaded all three files needed(com.htc.resources.apk,framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk)for Gingersense roms and in summary I checked and all was green to go.
Many thanks in advance!Hope that those of you who tried will understand!
No one?
Come on,I will share my themes with you guys!
Just to say that I had the same problem and I didn't solve it

I was looking for a solution to changing the font color on the HTC Home Music Tab to something other than the pastel blue.
I couldn't find a solution on this forum so I hacked it myself. I changed the font color from blue to white so it matches other themes better. It is only a hex change on six digits.
I am sharing this file in case anyone else want it as well. I also changed the progress bar color to green since the Diamond theme is all the rage nowadays. But the progress bar color is easy to change back.
The files came from HTC home version 2.1 build 1005722. I took it from one of PDAViet's newer WM6.1 rom for Hermes.
This is my very first hack and I only tested on my 8525. It is working fine. But please report back if anything is wrong.

The theme really is just Empex's diamond theme V2 together with tnyynt's HTC background. So the artwork credit belongs to them.
I added tweaks to it wrt MS application background color and command bar color.
There is a bug with my tweaks where if you boot up the device running my theme, the "start" text and the "time" on the top bar is missing. You can resolve this by switching to a standard theme and then switching back. I haven't really looked into what is causing this bug (hasn't bother me since I don't reboot that often) but if anyone knows why this is the case then please help me out here.

If it's only a six digits change, why would I have to install a 2,3 MB CAB file?

yes, it is only a six digit hex change on the main dll.
Problem is though there are so many versions of HTC home floating around, I don't want people to just download the dll and replace what they currently have. This may lead to compatibility issue.
Hi very good work but it may not help me because of the version. Could you write some tutorial about how to change? (I mean where inside the dll should I change) I would like to change the color of the weather tab and I could open the dll file by hex editor. Thx
@ Lolento can i ask what is the name of the dll file please as i would like to try other colours
Who needs themes for TF3D anymore i say. Using the themes consumes precious rom, (check before applying ANY theme, and after) and seriously slows TF3D down.
Now with the great works of our developers here, we dun need any. i could seriously kiss a few of theme especially for the "no curtains" cab and "wallpaper4all" cab.
I say, download the "No curtains" cab, Wallpaper4all" and i'd like to add the "RC Mod", and you're all set to make your own theme right there on your device itself.
RC Mod can change the top and bottom control bars of your device with ease to adjust to your theme.
Note: several tsks cant seem to have their top and bottom bars edited, especially HTC Black. Just download another .tsk file, apply it, edit the top and bottom bar, and install all the cabs above, and wa la! your very own theme.
To further customize it, you can download TF3D Tabs Icons. There already are a few uploaded here.
I love doing it this way, cuz i do not handicap my TF3D speed, and i do not handicap my storage space.
I'd like to also suggest that theme developers start exporting their Tab Icons more.
http://heretical-rantings.blogspot.com/2008/10/baronics-compilation-of-non-game-cabs.html
i agree
Still theres alot easier to jus install a theme, but it is so sad that it fills up the rom, i have been carefull about installing new themes after my first hard reset, and just tested, say, about 5 themes, vista theme, orange light theme, the 2 last djoubhaa themes and the jewelery theme. now my rom is down to just about 7 mb. and when i reset to default theme it stays at 24 mb, when it used to be around 60?
i love themes, but not all files seems to be deleted with the apply theme app.
and therefore filling up the rom with useless files taaking up storage space.
I have not installed a single app to the rom either, so it cant be what is causing the pile-up.
I totally agree as well!
Customizing is a nice way to kill time
To spare my fellow readers the searching i have compiled a linklist. There's a lot more of course. This is just to get you started

Great Post!!!
OK one thing and I will request it over at the other post as well... but is there a way to put the "curtains" back? I tried it and some of the tabs have junk under the curtain... I will probably use the top curtain one but I can not figur eout how to get the bottom one back...
Thanks,
SoBBie
definitely the only way to go, installing a whole theme seems a bit like overkill to me, so I just change what I wish to go, naimly blank out those top curtains, do the wallpaper & use my own iconset (which can be seen & downloaded here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478066)
oh man...the rc mod is great...thanx a lot for finding this stuff man...lov my diamond a whole lot more now:'(
>>Download here<<
Avaible for HTD Diamond and HTC Touch HD.
And there is askin for pcm keyboard too :
->Download
Installation :
Download the zip file on your computer. unzip. put the .teme file on your Diamond into the folder "/Internal Storage/Themes. (if it doesn't exist yet, create it)
Intall the "wallpapers" folder anywhere as you want on your Diamond. Those themes must be installed with TF3D config . Follow the developer's instructions.
To install on of the wallpapers, go to "Settings" tab on the tf3d and choose "wallpaper". The wallpaper only appear one the "Home" main screen of the TF3D.
Speechless... Fantastic work!
WOW, i gotta say that this looks amazing. I've seen a couple of your themes on a jpg layout you made before and this one is absolutely amazing.. I have been looking for one that i saw on that layout you made tho and i can't find it anywhere and hoping maybe you can help me out. I'm lookin for that theme you made thats composed of water. everything is basically made from water drops shaped in the form of the numbers and icons and the background is a rainy window i believe.
Regardless, this theme is absolutely gorgeous and will be tryin it out right now
Your themes look fantastic

Came up right away, thanks alot, i really appreciate it. I tried zitoun theme water, h2o, raindrops, everything but never tried rain lol first link was his 4shared link to download it.
great theme, i love the idea!! sadly i have a but though...
the top + bottom bars would need a different color and it was hard to actually "see" the tabs at the bottom ...
an update to those 2 and this would be my permanent theme!
thanks zaitoun for the theme..it's really great
but i would like to ask for something...i just installed the new HD Manila from XBMOD on my Touch pro...which version should i install the hd version or the diamond version and if possible add a call history icon to the theme
thanks alot ...waiting for your answer
Sorry but i can't customize all my themes for everyone it's too long...
And there is askin for pcm keyboard too :

Download HDWalls (HDWall_v0.28b) seems to be the most stable http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503511
1. Open it up on your PC, and run HDWALLS.EXE.
2. Click on slider on the side task bar. Right there are the original icon for the slide. select then create cab.
3 Now under options check the box to include slider bar
done... convert and create cab, and install. if you get confused, just followed hdwalls instructions. im sure there are people with links to cabs the way you may want it setup. my hd2 is pimped out thanks to HDWALLS. make sure to install hq patch.

I think what you're looking for there is the background itself, not the slider itself or the curtain behind it.
I believe the image below is the one you're looking for. I went ahead and cabbed it up in HDWalls using some settings that should work on the new stock tmo ROM. If you use this cab to make that image your background (it'll apply it to all tab backgrounds), you'll also need to install the HQ patch I've attached as well.
Let us know if this worked for what you needed

omg this worked perfectttt.. thank you so much..now it looks just like it used to on my old leo.. thanks.. ireally hated the stale solid black..
but theres one problem... now i can no longer change my weather background..ie its the same as the gradient background..like it wont apply any of the other "Stock" wallpapers in the folder..its always the black gradient no matter what... is there any way to fix this?.. ie on my home tab i could have any sense wallpaper but on all other tabs.. the normal gradient..
EDIT* okay i looked into it..seems like i have to use some app now to change my wallpaper..the stock picker will no longer work.... thanks..

Ahh yes sorry, I didn't catch that you wanted that image on all tabs other than your home tab, with a separate image instead for that. I'm honestly not familiar with any of the wallpaper choosers that might be out there. However, you might want to take a look at BG4A (BG4All tabs)...I seem to recall that it will put backgrounds on the tabs but still let you pick a separate one for your homescreen, but I haven't used it in a long time and could be mistaken
i hae the same problem and its the biggest reason i hat the newest rom upgrade
i realy hope someone can help me solve this problem becouse it gets on my nerves now!

Well you guys should all be running CHT on your devices anyways..that has an option to set an image for your tabs...in bothe 1.8.5 and 2.0...just download CHT and it will take care of that completely!
After updating my original German T-Mobile ROM from 1.72.111.4 to 3.14.111.1 (04666) GER with Manila 2.5.20181527.1, I get the same solid black background on all Sense tabs. This thread was the only search result that describes the problem.
HDWall v0.29b was not my first solution. Because I only want back my gray backgrounds.
Therefore, I installed the HQWallpaperPatch v1.30.
This was a successful attempt. All my gray backgrounds were there again. But now it was not possible to me to change the wallpaper of the home tab any more.
And the newly transparent look of the notification bar and soft bar is very ugly while working with normal applications.
Then, nevertheless after uninstalling the HQWallpaperPatch, I have tried out HDWall. But the resulting CABs were not compatible with my ROM. The wallpapers have not changed and the Sense UI became unstable. Only a hard reset/cold boot could solve the problems with Sense.
CHT is the acronym from "Co0kie's Home Tab". I do not need all that features. Hence, I have investigated to BG4all (Background for all tabs).
BG4all only replaces two files in the \Windows folder. 090a4ee8_manila includes a compressed script. I am not sure, why 3a8e04af_manila also must be replaced.
But there are many versions of this patch in the wild. I used m9editor to compare all shipped files with my original ones.
And I found a compatible version. This BG4all_Manila2.5.cab works without problems along with my ROM version.
Hey Developers,
I'm currently really busy with Android and everything around it. now I want to start and create my own theme. So far I know I have to pull (or get it from my current ROM) framework-res.apk and take the res map out (or icons) and then when I'm done I have to open it with 7zip and but the files I've edited back and then I can push it (not 100% sure how I have to do that but I'll find that out later)
Now the problem I'm having is changing the colors. I want to set the color of everything (buttons, radio buttons, numbers) and stuff to Purple instead of the normal Green.
I'm currently doing this by opening every file with Photoshop edit it and save it.
Is there any other way to do this or am I using the right way?
Hope someone can help me out!
Thanks in Advance,
SterAllures
You can do it this way with no problems.
If you want have all animations on notifications bar available at the moment you can use my framework-res if you want, it also have com.htc.resources.apk for espresso launcher theme, I based my work on other framework do it here with all animations on notifications enabled because I can't do it well without problems.
Framework with espresso [30-09-2010]: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DEIXMTG4
Framework with espresso carbono [30-09-2010]: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OIAQDS5E
GPS movement on conection
Rotate sync icon
SCB "I" do it by NeoPhyTe for me and added later for http://circle.glx.nl
All notification icons replaced and colored
"Herotizado" window style
And some others that I don't remember at the moment
Well I want to start by editing the colour and after that change the colors. but thanks a lot for the frameworks! I'll download them and look at it!
but I still want to know if by editing them with Photoshop is the best way to do it? or is there an easier/better way?

You can look at my small tutorial in my signature
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
After a long fight with my framework-res.apk I must warn you: if you push the new apk back on the phone via adb you are likely to get a lot of errors on boot from alle the HTC apps launching at startup. You're way better off if you create a update.zip and flash it - no errors at all. In Fightspit's tutorial is a link to the utils for such an update.zip (the tutorial is great and a life saver btw).
And do not forget to decompile framework (not unzip) before editing images, or u will have problems with .9.png (they must have 1px border around)
Edit: and yes u have to edit images one at the time with photoshop
Heya,
I'm back from a lil vacation .
Wanted to thank you all I've read through the link in your signature which was very helpfull!
And Unfortunately Mendozinas I already had a feeling I had to edit every lil file one by one but thanks for clearing that up, gonna be a pain the first time I think but it will be worth it!
Hope I can create a professional looking theme!
