I have a new HD Mini with factory installed Windows Mobile 6.5 professional.
We have a legacy app (for work // in Belgium) that needs to be installed on the phone, that unfortunately only works on Windows Mobile 6.1 and has a fixed screen-resolution (it was originally designed for use on the Touch Cruise II). The Touch Cruise II is no longer available, and we have no more spares neither.
Currently the developer of this app is reworking it for it to be operational in WM6.5 and be able to work on different sizes of screen and also port it to Android. This will take 4 weeks however
Unfortunately, I can not wait 4 weeks and not be able to work ... so I need to donwgrade this HD Mini to WM6.1 ... how can I do this ?
I think is possible you make a Rom with a kitchem tool.

You need to download the xip and sys 6.1, you want. With this tool you can use the old os, and the oem files from the hd mini.

Yes, you are right, I tried to find 6.1 sys and xip with HVGA resolution, and no sucess. Maybe is easier to buy a Htc Diamond with 6.1 instaled.
This is an interresting project tho'!
Where do I find the xip and sys 6.1?

Hi all i am new of wm 6.5 os and i use an elfin, i appriciate a lot of there is a way to combine the home plus plus plugin ( that let me overclock my device) and use the classic wm6.5 plugin.
Is it possible? i notice that the wm6.5 plugin when active uncheck the others...

Does HTC's WinMo 6.5 version that I can download from their site come with TF3D? It looks like it doesn't but I can't be sure, and I really like TF3D. I'd rather not switch the entire interface for a few OS "tweaks" if I don't have to. Anyone? Can I install the 6.5 then install TF3D separately?
it comes with TF3d 2.1, if you like manilla you'll love it!

Anyone know how I can download this W6.5 ROM from HTC - my phone is a Vodafone variant and the HTC website says the update 'is not suitable' for my phone! I've tried playing around with the serial number to try to 'fool' the system but that hasn't worked either.

All apps which run on WM6.1 will run on WM6.5, including TomTom.

Yesterday I bought HTC Touch 3G (Jade) with Windows 6.5. While rest all is good, what is sorely missing, is the TouchFlo, which makes navigation super cool and easy.
I see several TouchFlo .cab and ROM files for Windows 6.5. So I have few questions about their compatibility:
Which is safer to install? .cab or ROM? I see that installing .cab is like installing a program, but what about ROM? Does installing ROM would wipe out OS? Will it make the phone unstable?

I too bought HTC Touch 3G T3238+ from ebay.in
IMEI nubmer as mentioned by seller is correct when checked on several sites as well as HTC. However, most of the functions in the device are different from original HTC Touch 3G as shown on their site (HTC)! Seller says its due to upgradation of WM to 6.5 from 6.1...
I have searched on XDA-Developers.com but no skin is available that can go with this device (may be, I couldnt get proper one!)
Could experts help me installing TouchFLO in my device?

to both above t3238 is a cloan and to my knoledge orignal HTC jade does not come with 6.5 preloaded

I previously cooked a ROM for my Blackstone but used the EXT Packages dump from a HD2 and customisted the bits that didn't work. I want to build a WM 6.5 ROM for a Kaiser and I was going to try and apply the same logic with a QVGA device if there is one?

Earlier I have HTC Excalibure to which I have flashed n mumbers of time to WM 6.5.
Now my query is, can v flash any WM 6.1 to WM 6.5.
Pl. advice.

I think you can, but first search for a 6.5 or 6.5.x rom suitable for your phone. I have a Samsung Omnia i900 which comes with WM 6.1 Pro, now I have cooked (custom) WM 6.5.3 Pro flashed on it and it's working even much better and faster than the preinstalled WM 6.1 Pro. much more memory too.
Just use the Search field for what you need
But the best thing to do is to ask the phones company is it can be upgraded, byt be ware that flashing with custom rom will erase your warranty, but I think you already know all these things cuz like you said, you've already did flashing new rom

I also have Samsung Omnia I900. I tried searching thread that could help me on how to upgrade it frm WM 6.1 to WM 6.5 but unfortunately I couldn't find thread that has detailed instruction. Could you help me? Please. Thanks!

Karan it is very good that u know coocking rom. I also have purchased this wm 6.1 DIGIBEE phone. I also trying to update it to 6.5 but .nb0 rom it is not working. I was using the GYGABYTE i120 gsmart phone & i updated it to 6.5 from 6.1 it was also working very fine. The same ROm i tried for DIGIBEE but it didnt find any ROM on SD CARD
Bythe way somebody tell us how to coock won rom. procudure???

Hello Thilak,
Yes of-course you can go for it, you'll never get a windows mobile with good specs at this low price . Its performance was almost same as my previous HTC Fuze (Touch Pro), and it was running under Windows Mobile 6.1.I was searching for its stock ROM so that i can start experiment on it with other ROMs.
And many of the driver files in our digibee matches with Samsung i900 Omnia (Such as, board, processor (Marvell PXA31x), display, battery etc), and if I find digibee stock ROM then ill experiment with i900 ROMs.

Disappointed performance
I am very much disappointed with this device. I cannot load most of the apps found on the net. Installation is a problem and where installation is not a problem the battery heats up like an iron box and drains fast. I wouldnt recommend this for any one.
Under these conditions I dont think any modification like upgrading to WM6.5 will be possible.
