ua string - Galaxy S II General

how do u change the u string on sgs2 i have tried about debug but the option dont come up help

Try type in the address field about:useragent . A menu should pop up asking which ua you want. Or try about:debug . Go into browser settings after and you mught see ua string appear at the bottom.
Edit: nvm, see you already tried the debug.

[OPERA][HOW TO]:AVOID auto-redirect to WAP-MOBILE view pages/websites

QUESTION:
In opera, some pages were auto-redirecting my inquires to their wap versions instead of displaying the full web pages ("wap mobile view" instead of the standard full-desktop view)
Eg.: typed "www.google.com" and getting automatically redirected to "http://www.google.com/m". Same for nytimes, www.sports.es, etc
Unchecking "mobile version" at config menu didn't help. Frustrating...
.
ANSWER:
Some pages detect your device thru the "User Agent" (UA) identity and auto-reconfigure to "better fit" your hardware (PC, notebook, handheld, etc), thus, if you are browsing from a phone then you will be redirected to the wap version. Awful.
I have a BEAUTIFUL 800x480 screen and a great browser, I wanted full PC-like web experience
HOW TO SOLVE:
1) In Opera, type "about:config" or "opera:config" to enter config menu
2) Go to "User prefs"
3) Uncheck "UAProf URL enabled"
4) Restart device
No more wap crap. Now pages display properly, normal view, as seen on my PC. I'm happy
thanks, great tip!
but if you're using the opera search it still redirects you to the google mobile page...is there anyway to fix that?

Yeah, that's great.
So it's more fun to browse the web! Thank you!
Nice find.
Sadly, I tried it with Opera Mini and no luck there ):

Thanks!
When I still used Opera, I changed the User Agent in the about:config to the number '3'. If I remember correctly it uses Firefox's user agent then (or IE6).
However, thats all history, I use NetFront 3.5, and except for the fact that it doenst support Flash\Addon's (yet), it is WAY better then Opera. Scrolling goes so smooth with the optical pad ! !
Also, the pages load a lot faster, and aren't screwed up while loading (unlike Opera Mobile where every page gets screwed up until its finally loaded).
Great tip, thanks!!
Many thanks for hint!
Did anybody found a setting to sync the bookmarks?
In opera mini it is possible.

You shouldn't be getting the wap version anymore (I don't)
Did you reset after changes ??
Double check opera:config to see if changes were saved
Im getting the same thing as well whenever i go to www.goal.com it takes me straight to the wap version :S
Another attempt if the first one posted still does not work.
It still didn't work for me so I did some more searching and found something on the att forums linking back to here. It said to go to the proxy settings through the opera settings and erase the text in the bar. Like for FTP, HTTP, HTTPS server just erase the field. Restart the phone then try to go to a regular site like yahoo.
Example: I removed the "wap.cingular.com" from all the fields and it doesn't go to the mobile sites anymore.
still getting wap

Operator's autoconfiguration-dependant then...
Here's plan B:
-opera:config -> "User Agent" -> "Spoof UserAgent ID"
-change value from "1" to "2"
-save changes
-reset device
Hope this helps

Try this;
Type in about:config in the opera browser's address field.
Expand the install line and check the box labelled browser first time launch. Tap save, then restart the browser.
nope doesn't seem to work, is there a way to uninstall ie?
With a registry editor go to: HKLM\Software\Shell\Rai\: DEFBROWSER\1 and enter the following string: "\Windows\OperaL.exe"

[Q] browser problem

hi all
just got the eee transformer. when i log into facebook it automatically uses facebook mobile. and it doesnt work right when i try and hit the home or facebook button it keeps comming up connection error. i cant get it not to go to facebook mobile , does anyone know how to stop this please
If your using the stock browser, change the User String agent in advanced settings to 'Desktop'. That should fix the issue.
Yep the stock and most of the downloaded broswers have an option in the settings to choose what servers see your device as...
In stock broswer go to Settings > Advanced and 3rd setting from the bottom is User agent string - change this to Desktop and everything in the world becomes right!

[Q] MMS Problems

Press ##3282#, select "Edit", enter your msl, then select "Advanced" scroll down to "MMS URL", change it to http://mm.myboostmobile.com then hit menu and select commit. After that you should be fine.
EDIT - just saw the comment about fresh rom, is that a sense rom or aosp?

Hi, thank you so much, but when I press ##3282# nothing happens :/
What else can I do?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
U must be on a sense rom for the ##3282# code to work. If you are using a sense rom then you're gonna need to download an epst apk and install it. That should allow you to access the ##3282# menu to change the mms settings.

[Q] No Web on 3g

I've tried Jelly Time and am having one irritation when I switch to 3g/4g, I can't surf the web but can on WiFi. Data is working as I can upgrade apps, check mail, etc. but all browsers time out. I'm assuming it's a setting somewhere like DNS or something but don't know where to fix it.
I've installed a few of the JB mods and have the trouble with all of them. I'm on Telus.
I do a full format on all partitions except sdcard before installing.
Any ideas on what to try?
Which version of JellyTime?

I've tried up to R8 with Firefox, native, and Chrome.
Your on telus... go to apn and put in proxy and port values to be the exact same as what is in by default for mms. Hit menu and save

By the way I would love if someone can find a fix for this. It's been happening ever since kernel 3. It also prevents me from using any ad blocking because they don't work if you use proxy.

Could you be more specific? What is apn and what are the defaults for mms?
