No flame please
Well, i just noticed TODAY that EDT has a ROM named Asgard, hiding in their forums sneaky devs...
It's amazing, truly is, it just got updated, and i'm downloading it right now... so... yeah and its 214MB so yeah its a big download but definately worth it!
http://edtdev.com/forum/topic/122-r...orking-audio-routing-and-custom-kernel532011/
go check it out!
It has most of the things that the GB roms here don't have.
It has the fixed MIC thing no using that headset toggle app..
The rainbow problem has been fixed, but you have to let go of your camera and video playback, but if you want rainbow instead of losing the other 2, there's kernel's to do just that!
It's amazing what these devs can do!
I'm just sharing
Try it out!
It flashed no problems, just odin and flash, needs to be on RFS to flash, so don't flash it on EXT4 and i just converted to EXT4 on this and its even better!
TW4 is really amazing and i'm happy with what Samsung has done!
Here are some pictures from THE OFFICIAL THREAD.

Wow thanks man! Who cares about the 200+MB file size. As I always say "the bigger, the better". What Kernal do you flash via Odin before flashing this?

Just do what i did and not face any problems...
ODIN.
ODIN and flash like any other rom...
The ROM just needs for you to be on RFS, so im guessing if you turn off your VOODOO from any rom, that it would work, since its RFS, but w/e ODIN is quicker and faster!
I tried flashing this and ended up with a bootloop and a wiped sd card.
I'm Odining to stock now and am going to attempt to reflash.
They are not sneaky haha. This has been widely twittered and talked about if you follow the devs. They just don't wanna release it on XDA yet as it isn't fully bug-free and people here love complaining about bugs. That being the case it IS a public release on the forum as of yesterday was it so feel free to try it.
PS: Did I note that the kernel is also from cmenard and beside all the usual (Voodoos, tweaks, etc) it also supports up to 1.42Ghz overclock on Gingerbread? Yes...nothing on XDA has that yet
So I've actually never had to odin my phone. after I got root I've just flashed probly 15 different roms from recovery. So lemme get this straight so I know I wont be messing anything up. I use all the correct files and coding back to stock after stock I flash this rom through odin? Now with the rfs. I disabled voodoo on my current rom so I should be fine right? Im not on ext4 anymore? And I read the odin guide for noobs do I just follow its instructions just like I was installing any other rom? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Sounds like you flashed over ext4 by accident - Asgard has been shown to wipe your sd if you try to flash it over ext4.

At first, hell no.
Recondition, i did it once, and it lasted for 14 hours, and i use moderate-heavy.
Experiences may differ
i flashed this not too long ago and my touchwiz launcher keeps force closing. Do i have to odin back and do a re-flash? Also some widgets show up as "problem loading widget"
if you read the original thread over at EDT, there's fixes, read the last 2-4 pages.
I hate to be the thread crapper but I'll pass on this, as with all current Gingerbread ROM's for the Vibrant.
No offense to the Devs, I like their Trigger ROM a great deal, just need the GPS in the phone far too often to flash a ROM in which it's broken.
The very first GB ROM in which the GPS is confirmed to work is without a doubt going to get flashed to my Vibrant.

TW4 isn't really for our phones. So maybe that's why it's laggy.

yea it fixed itself. I just let it go through its thing and now it doesnt force close. I'll look into the widgets issue now. maybe they'll work now too. I love it so far.

It's certainly not the snappiest ROM I've ever used but I think it runs better than TW3 ever did on my phone. I'm in love with the new widget/page management UI they have going. It makes the standard Android UI look terribly dated and less useful by comparison.
Also, battery life has been better than MIUI or CM7 for me. After being unplugged for 4 hours, I'm at 87% with medium use. That's pretty good in my book.
Best Gingerbread rom and its brand new so give this a month an it will be simply amazing an its not laggy as some people say it has its moments but what rom doesn't

I have to agree, this is probably the best froyo rom I have tried. Matter of fact, I would still be using it except I had issues in that whenever my phone restarted, I couldn't get it past the G1 logo and would have to reflash to get it running again.
i was on COS-DS and it ran fairly good but had little lags here and there but the rom i keep comming back to on my dream is ezterry Official AOSP. its fast and stable its my daily rom.

As I recall, I repatitioned the card and I think I tried it with ext4. I then wiped it in fastboot (fastboot erase system -w and fastboot erase boot) and then wiped it with superwipe and wipedatacachesystem x2.
Maybe it was the ext3 vs ext4. I may try it again.
i tired SuperASOP ran very good i would kept with the rom but some reason when i try to go thru my sdcard with astro it say it was blank. setting my ringtone/notification it didnt read any that was in my sdcard only one that came with the rom. if theres a fix let me know i would like to give it another shot.

for new spl/radio you need to flash superbler kernel before booting, the link is here link next to rom
it has nothing to do with ext2/3/4 because this will be accessed only after you activate app2sd from supsetup settings

I appreciate the advice but I still can't seem to get past the G1 screen. I formatted the card, partitioned it (FAT32, EXT3, 128MB Swap), wiped with wipedatacachesystem and Superwipe and then went through all the wipe options in recovery and repaired the ext. I then flashed the rom and the superblur kernel.
No luck as I still get stuck on the G1 screen.

SuperAosp
wallpaper
Yeah. I was reading a lot of that thread yesterday too. I just think this rom is too good not to at least have a page with the link even if its user supported. I really like how this thing runs
Features:
This is basically JVR based Apex 9.0 minus home haptic minus deodexing minus lockscreen options minus overscroll glow.
If you want all these features Apex 9.0 is your stop.
This is not an Apex release. 9.0 is the official version out
Reason for keeping it ODEXED:
In layman terms deodexing on JVQ+ roms seem to break browser.
In theory deodexing might be breaking some other functions too but browser is most noticable.
Once this process is fixed we will start getting wonderful ROMs with fully working browser and what not.
Since this is odexed rom MODs are much harder to implement. However it seems to be noticably smoother.
Whats ODEXED? Framework & Browser

I have not found any benefits yet but I also have not found any major problems. I am using the Darky R kernel and it is smooth.
I had to reboot for the phone to allow TiBu to root but that is it. Install all apps with no problems.
Not sure how much messing I will do with it since it looks like not much will be done on this ROM for a while... and I do not use the alarm clock

The goal here was to create a stock 2.3.5 feel for the cappy , preserve the customization options of Cyanogenmod, and add the features I felt were missing.

if the glitch kernel freaks out on you... you may need a different leakage version. Source code and updates for glitch kernel, can be found in the following thread ------->http://bit.ly/pNkURn
CHANGELOG:
v1.3- Initial release and port from samsung vibrant, relatively untested
Seems interesting...i'll try it out tonight.
As shall I... I doubt many people here will get the KingKlick reference lol (I'm from way back... G1 days). Great to see you deving for Captivate, biff.
you guys are officially testers. Please let me know any bugs or issues you have. Cappy and Vibrant are basically the same so i think i pulled it off proper, but since i don't have the device, its not possible to know. Once you all confirm its as stable as it should in theory be, i'll push to rom manager and start doing biweekly updates.
Sounds good. I won't be using Glitch though, I'm currently testing a kernel of my own (in my sig). TK-Glitch was the dev of Gitch kernel btw
I will give a try also this night!

That's what the OP says. If you have issues, then they're most likely caused by your GB bootloaders. Give it a try, worst that can happen is that you have to go stock. (disclaimer: worse can happen if you really, really, really screw up and I'm not responsible)

This has been one crazy week. I never imagioned going from TWRP2 as impossible on samsung devices, to a one click zip so fast.
Simply flash the zip below, you will have the exact same kernel as before, except with TWRP recovery magically replacing cwm.
This means that this can be flashed on CM7,CM9,AOKP,Gummy,CNA,etc regardless of whether you are using the stock kernel, glitch kernel, or anything else.
Note: You must be rooted and/or have a custom recovery already installed!
Disclaimer: Team Win strives to provide a quality product. However, it is your decision to install our software on your device. Team Win takes no responsibility for any damage that may occur from installing or using twrp.
Features:
Touch based recovery
Flash zips
Backup / restore roms
wipe cache,dalvik,/data
Misc.
Known Issues:
No usb support (adb, mount usb storage)
No /datadata support (can't backup or wipe app data)
reboot recovery broken (just reboots normally)
Report Problems:
I know there are a lot of problems as this is an ALPHA release.
However, it is still usable as a recovery, and a public release allows me to find and diagnose more problems.
So if you have a problem that has not been mentioned, post about it with a log, so that I may begin fixing it.
goto Advanced->Copy Log to SDcard
then upload /sdcard/recovery.log
Download: http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/captivatemtd
I hope the bugs will get ironed out, so this can become the best recovery for us captvate users (and next other SGS devices).
Enjoy!
Looks very promising. Will try out in the next day or so.
Thanks

I realize. I have been working on this for some time. I hang out in #glichbeta IRC and contribute to their dev work... So they have had access to this for a while, and have started integrating it into the glitch kernel, which is also in AOKP.
Go ahead and ask sixstringsg. They are my prebuilts I shared.
Anyways, this has a few advantages. Ex: you can still run stock cwm, then flash this over your kernel to test it out. Instead of being 'forced' into using something before it is perfected.
So far the only problems I find are that b34 essentials is only half way flashing. TWRP doesn't like the morphing script. And butter cream does not work at all with TWRP.

Has anybody tried this yet? What's the results?
Alright. Lets call the arguing done, and just talk about the recovery.

So far the only problems I find are that b34 essentials is only half way flashing. TWRP doesn't like the morphing script. And butter cream does not work at all with TWRP.

Can you get me a log from /tmp/recovery.log
Or by going to Advanced -> Copy log to SD, and uploading /sdcard/recovery.log

It is stable enough for me. If you don't like it you can reflash a different kernel to get CWM back.

I have tried it. I updraded AOKP, flashed gapps, flashed glitch kernel. Made a backup, restored a backup - all fine.
However, as with every one else, I encourage you to give it a shot. The more testers, the better.
I am loving this recovery. Great job. Keep up the great work. Been waiting for this to come to the captivate.

Guys, Smasher816 and Sixstringsg are good friends and work together. Smasher isn't stealing anything. Slow your roll dudes. Be grateful that there are great devs working for this phone still.

Sent from my Galaxy S Captivate on Slim ICS 3.5 w/Semaphore 1.0sc Kernel [email protected]% live OC and 387mb available RAM. BUTTER
Downloaded twice, first was bad download. And then the second received a status seven error.
Trying another download, over wifi this time
For some month's ago i had a Galaxy S Plus and i liked it, but i wanted to flash a custom ROM on it. So i updated it with Odin to the newest stock firmware, and i innstalled Clockworkmod so i could flash a custom ROM.
So i flashed the custom ROM (MoonRom) on it using AROMA innstaller and it went successfully. And i used the ROM for one day, and it was fast, and so on, and had a funny sound when u pressed on the dialer keypad, like a water drop sound
I liked the ROM, but i wanted it back to stock (warranty reasons) .So i put to phone into download mode and i used Odin + the pit file and flashed it back to stock firmware and wiped out and formatted everything on it using recovery mode.
And later i used the phone dialer, and the keypad sounds from the custom ROM was still there, after i reflashed it????
I was extremely confused i flashed a billion stock firmwares on there and that water drop sound when u tapped the dialer keypad was still there. I had formatted it and everything and it was still there after flashing back????
I know own a Galaxy S II, and i will never flash somethign custom on there i am afraid that if i do that and then reflash back. Something on the old rom will ble left.
After that i gave my mom the phone. And i was extremly confused...
Maybe the keypad sound is left on the sd card?

Strange, but I wouldn't give up Roms just because of a water drop sound. To each his own.
Agree with the guy above me. Stock, the phone has way too much bloatware.

So do you know any way to get the keypad sounds back??? And also the keyboard sounds are also left from the custom ROM.
If you flashed back using Odin then its impossible that the sounds remain.
I can make you a flash package that should enable the stock samsung sounds if you really want it? You just have to tell me what firmware you will be running i.e. Gingerbread or ICS?

I made this post just to try sort things out why the old rom sounds is still there, and i used ODIN + the pit filed when i flashed the Galaxy S Plus.

User error. If you used odin, nothing will remain from a previous flash.

Don't mean to be rude or anything but why should we care whether you will or won't flash another custom rom again?

Flashing roms, tinkering, working out issues and resolving them, making device better is what XDA is about and where the enjoyments is, If you dont like that or dont have the aptitude, patience to learn why are you even here or have a Android device?
My suggestion is to get a Nokia 3310 or an iPhone, Or at least do not come here and bore us with stories about why you dont want to flash your phone.
