WMA libs? - Acer Iconia A500

Does anyone know what lib (or other files) are needed to enable the WMA codec?
My Android 2.2 phone can play WMA files natively, yet the Tablet can't.
(and yes I know I can convert the files, but WMA was my preferred choice when I made the stuff and it's way too much to convert all of it).
(and I know there are other apps that will play WMA (using PowerAmp right now), but I like the album spinner on the native player.

MoboPlayer... find it in the android market... works great!

I want NATIVE support not another player.

It would have everything to do with dev if someone would DEVELOP it.

the honeycomb source is not public.... so no lib development....

MoboPlayer does NOT play .wma files on my SGS2 with ICS 4.0.3. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ring Tone & Video Problems

Hi,
I can't play MP3's as ringing tone. Also can't play MPEG & AVI within Windows Media Player. Could someone please help. I have only recently purchased my XDA, so any pointers would be muchly appreciated.
I have updated to the new rom version 172181 and still have this problem.
Could someone please advise.
Many thanks.
Steve.
Windows Media Player doesn't support AVI and Mpeg formats on Pocket Pc devices.
To play mpeg formats you need PocketTv or others programs.
To play AVI files you need a BetaPlayer or Simply install Album Program from XDA2.
Also,You can't play Mp3's as ringtone because you need to convert first them to Wav files or Midi..To convert use any Wav-Mp3 Converter on i-net.
Good Luck!
Im currently looking into and seriously considering writing a program that allows more formats of music/sound to be used as ringtones, i quite like the sound of MMF and MOD files and i think they wud sound cool as ringtones. I hear that windows mobile uses VOIP to handle incoming calls so im hoping that the API is accessible and i will be able to write a program which "monitors" phone activity and will intercept incoming calls etc. If anyone has any knowledge on this that they are willing to share please do so
Marc
yeah that would be usefull of cause most people just use converter programs on the pc to make all those formats into wma and use them that way
because it would require some programming to play the good old mod formats because you need the sample file aswell to play the patteren of the mods
True, there are some pocket pc MOD Dlls though that i could perhaps make use of, they may not be freeware but a lot of applications distribute fmodce.dll so i could just make use of that if it were present on the users device. Id also like to see the midi mapper on the xda changed as well coz in my opinion its pretty crap!
Marc
Download the Lemmings Clone from Jacko Biker.
It contains full source code - that does also include a MOD Player LIB.
( eVC 3 and 4 compatible )
That is a good starting point to improve this LIB ( However, it works already very good and stable )
Cheers,
Scorpion
ok, ill take a look at it sometime today. is there any requests for what people would want in my app so i can put it into the design?

If you try are looking for lemmings you'll find it has vanished from nearly everywhere, apparently thanks to SONY contacting the site owners to have it removed.

Anyway, I found a chinese site which still has it. If that happens to vanish, I've got a copy if anyone needs it. (FYI It's not brilliant - seems to have no volume control and exiting requires a soft boot).

Problem playing .wma audio

Hey. Loving CM7 so far, but I've run into a problem. Either CM7 doesn't support .wma files or something else is wrong, but none of my .wma songs will play in any player. Is there a fix for this or is my only recourse to convert all of them into .mp3?
plx help....
Did you try Rock Player (from market)? Never ever betrayed me.
There are many, many third party media players from the market that support .wma format sound files
But it's normal for wma files not to appear for example in the default player for Android right? That happens to me and happened with winamp and real media, which I suppose don't support wma files.
If it's not normal for them not to appear in the default player what may be the fault? The ROM I use or the HTC HD2 itself?
I appreciate any reply and sorry if I'm asking something repeated already. Despite the traces of what is said not only in this thread being quite obvious I'd like full confirmation of this
Thanks for nothing :/
For those who in the future have the same problem, try Power Amp, for me it worked like a charm. Playe Pro didn't.

[Q] wma files on defy with cm7

Yeah, I see that I don't seem to be able to play .wma files since I got cm7. It's certainly not the end of the world, but most of my music is in wma. Is that just the facts of life, or is there a way to do it? Doesn't matter what player I use or whether the files are internal or on SD. Hmm. :/
PowerAmp plays wma encoded music. It didn't work for you?
Trimis de pe Defy CM9
No, I know, many players *play* wma files. Winamp, etc. But none will play them since I went to CM7. Alas.
wma is a licensed codec (owned by microsoft). The Cyanogenmod team would have to buy that license (which is proportional to the number of users using it) in order to decode .wma files. There are over 40k CM7 users over the world.
That's not possible unfortunately
CM7 + CM9 double boot
This makes sense. Thanks
Totally understandable. I was thinking, if I can't I can't. But if I can and I just don't know how, I want to know how. Thanks

may i know why does not the p8 lite audio player play aac songs?

i have noticed that the player does play ogg vorbis , mp4 but not aac at leat in this format or extension
i tried to scan all my folders , nothing
and about the lyrics may i know which metadata files does it read ?

A. Install another audio player or
B. Convert all files to accepted format
I have the same problem.
Only Poweramp works for me + it has build in equalizer and you can change themes.

hi
try blackplayer ! it's free
but i'm bored to install other application for simple tasks , i mean at least the p8 player should play aac ! i have to open with the video player
[Solved - sort of]
Just to add to the confusion, I have a slightly similar/different problem. My P8lite plays m4a files bought and/or ripped via iTunes stored on the SDCard, then it wouldn't find newer ones I added. File explorer apps show they are there at
SDCard/Music/NewAlbum/Track1.m4a
SDCard/Music/NewAlbum/Track2.m4a
etc, etc
I like that the P8lite native MusicPlayer will look for and play random folders, except that the ones it can't find do show up in the VideoPlayer. ??!!?? I have another 3rd party app also called MusicPlayer that worked well on a previous phone, but it too cannot "see" the missing folders. These files seem to have been grabbed by the system and tagged as video. WTF? Is there a hidden limit on the number/size of audio files? How can these files be re-assigned as audio? Fishing round the AppStore to find a player that works seems a doozy way to fix what looks like a system fault...
[Edit] Problem comes from Apple, not Android: iTunes v.12 and later tags file info as "Purchased AAC", previous versions were merely "AAC". There's no DRM 'cos they will play on Android devices that play m4A, just they don't show up in many players' menu. I'm now using RocketPlayer, works for me. I haven't got any CD handy now to rip with iTunes12 to see what it does to that...

FLAC files impossible to play

Hi, I have a little trouble with my favorite ROM, AOSP Extended.
I can't play FLAC files. It's happening only with the last built, and, as I'm using the same apps and the same configuration, I thing it's something related to the ROM.
I was wondering if it could be something of a file missing, or something like that.
If somebody can help me, it would be great.
Thanks.
FLAC
.flac files will play with VLC for Android. Get it from the Playstore.
Thanks for your answer
