Just curious as to what settings and modes you are using within cm7 mod settings? Thanks

I'm using these same settings on cm7.0.2 and it gives me amazing battery life with 16+ hours every day with average/heavy use
I use CM7 NB58 with Faux CFS/LV (build #137), tried different CPU governors, but typically I get about 50% battery after 5-6 hours.
I use "SmartAss" 368 MHz min, 1305 MHz max, and, when high temperature, low batt etc. max value is reduced down to 768 MHz and "powersave" governor.
Tried to calibrate battery/reset stats but seems just the same.
Attaching an example of today's batt consumption (I plugged the phone to car dock twice, for a short period of ~10 minutes), Wifi on most of the time, and screen on/off intermittently. I just can't see how I can get more than 12 hours from my battery...

How many Social Networks do you have Syncing in the background? E-Mails, And when your wi-fi is on.. is it connected or are you using the WCDMA radio.
I'm using 1.2 GHz max, 245 MHz min "ondemand", and some "powersave" profiles for when screen off (368MHz max) and low battery (768MHz max). I'm just using cm7's built-in kernal, haven't flashed one of faux's over it...so far on cm7 (about a week and half) I've been getting great battery life, much better than on stock. Lol it's literally about doubled, went from about 8-9 hours to about 16 hours. I used to have to plug it in right after work, now I don't have to until bedtime.

thanks for your reply.
No social network whatsoever- I'm anti social...
Using cm7 email and maildroid, both on push mail mode.
About the radio- I've got no clue what a wcdma radio is, so I guess it is the default that comes with cm7 or faux kernel?

WCDMA radio is the 4G radio that is installed on the phone.
Another way to word it is. When you have WiFi turned on, are you connected to the Wi-Fi Router? or do you just leave it on and it's not connected.

Wifi is on low signal area, so it connects part of the time and the rest it tries to reconnect. As for the 4g, it is disabled most of the time since I have a limited data plan. I just enable it when needed for specific tasks.
I'll try other governor settings and see if it gets better over a couple of days.
thanks!

Hi all,
Has anyone tried using SetCPU on his rooted legend? I tried on my non rooted one just too have a look at the CPU frequencies, to see how it behaves at idle and so, and while max is 600MHz the min is "only" 480MHz.
Doesn't that sound a bit high for the min frequency? The snapdragon is clocked at 1GHz and idle is 250Mhz. Has anyone tried lowering the idle frequency on the legend to gain some battery life?
Hi Bricolo_fr,
I found this entry in the FAQ of SetCPU documentation fount here (http://www.pokedev.com/setcpu/):
"Why aren't there more speeds to choose from?
The speeds which the CPU can run at is in part a kernel limitation and in part a hardware limitation. Attempting to set the CPU frequency to anything else won't cause any changes in CPU speed. On some devices, the kernel can be modified to enable certain other frequencies. There are other speeds that would be useful, the capabilities of the processor itself often hinders which frequencies are available on a device."
Anybody has the skills for making a kernel change?or some ideas for us being able to use this properly?
Hi,
Today I rooted my legend and tested again SetCPU. At the begining, it was only possible to set CPU from 480 to 600 mhz, but then I red this in SetCPU documentation:
http://www.pokedev.com/setcpu/
--------------
10. Disabling Perflock
On most stock HTC kernels and some custom kernels, HTC has enabled a driver called "perflock" that constantly resets SetCPU's Max and Min settings. This does not apply to mostly "Google experience" HTC devices such as the T-Mobile G1, the myTouch 3G, any Google development device, or the Nexus One. It does, however, apply to "HTC Sense" devices such as the HTC Hero, Droid Eris, HTC Desire, HTC Incredible, EVO 4G, and myTouch Slide. Non-HTC devices never have perflock enabled.
SetCPU can disable perflock on newer HTC kernels, giving you control of the Max and Min settings of the CPU. To do this, press the Menu button on your device in the Main tab and choose "Disable Perflock." Read through the notice and then press the button in the dialog. If successful, you should be able to change the frequency with SetCPU. If this process fails, please e-mail the developer with your kernel version and device so support can be added.
Keep in mind that disabling perflock does not enable overclocking, though some overclocked kernels may require perflock to be disabled. Overclocking, in most cases, requires a custom kernel.
-------------------
So, in the last version of SetCPU there is an option in the menu called "Perflock Disabler" With this option, it is possible to select the minimun frequence to any value from 0 to 600 Mhz.
I have not been able to modify maximun to a value higher than 600 mhz (overclock) but I think the best target is to reduce battery consumtion decresing the minimun mhz value. Actualy I set minimum 128, maximun 600.
so, are you sure you could set it to the minimum of 128? because i think it doesn't work actually...at least without a modified kernel
I got a min at 19 MHz. to 600 Mhz.

Yes. Also confirmed with the app Os Monitor:
-Saling range: 122880-600000
-Frequency range:19200-600000
-Governor: ondemand
-Current: 122880
Software version: unbranded 1.31.405.4 (just rooted with Monodaco method and applyed all OTA updates)
In SetCPU Info:
-Time in state:
19200: 22
122880: 1169071 (Currently I set minimum at 122880)
128000: 0
245760: 269491
480000: 362472
600000: 347583
SetCPU in Legend allows the following governors: userspace, ondemand, and perfromance. Ondemand works fine. Userspace and performance makes extrage things (i tested quickly, to be honest)
I defined several profiles in SetCPU, depending of battery chage, and seems to work fine. But, I did not enable "Set on boot" option in SetCPU and need to activate "Perflock Disabler" in SetcPU menu everytime I reboot Legend (I prefer to test a SetCPU a few days before enabling "Set on boot")
well...this is nice... after disabling the "perflock" option...
I set the minimum value to 19mhz....lol... with "ondemand" management of the cpu...
I think I'have seen a HUGE improvement of the battery...When I mean HUGE, I really mean HUUUUUGE!
Like, for a 12hours use always with 3g data on,and 2 hours of wireless...lost only 30% of battery...
Testing today for more results...
I use the profile manager in SetCpu to set the CPU to 128-256 while screen off, max mhz while charging, etc.
I have seen big improvements.
Yes, battery improvement is very nice. This solution is great.
I am testing a profile to 122-245 while usb charging. So, when I use Googla Mobile Navigation it is able to load a bit battery while using GPS (normaly drains battery a bit while charging)
out of charge at 6am...it's now 10am...3g ON...wireless ON now for 2hours...
So, in resume, on 4 hours of use the battery loss - 6%
At this rate, and with these settings it should last for about 66hours, about 2,7 days.
Let's see...

In my case, tested yesterday:
Battery consumption:
battery at 100% at 10:00 am. 3g data on 1 minute every 15 minutes (JuiceDefender), 30 mÃnutes call and 8 emails received and red a long de day. Battery was at 41% at 1:00 am. I spent the day in a place with low 3g network (between 1 and 2 bars in the top right corner)
SetCPU Configuration:
-Profile 1: when battery is between 50% and 100%: min 122 mhz, max 600 mhz
-Profile 2: when battery is between 30% and 50%: min 122 mhz, max 480 mhz
-Profile 3: when battery is between 0% and 30%: min 122 mhz, max 245 mhz
So, battery save is very nice.

I've made some profiles too, and it's working really well.
Are you guys using the auto detection of the device? I've used it in the first time, but it detected my device as a Hero(?) since the max frequency was only 528mhz. Then I've changed the device and selected MSM7x27 manually and got the 600mhz max and many middle frequencies like 120, 122 and 128mhz. Now I've changed the device again to auto detection and it worked this time, got the 600mhz max, but less middle frequencies (no 120 or 400mhz). Also, i'm using 122mhz as the minimum frequency in all profiles, isn't 19mhz too low? Or the demand feature really works that well and I will not even notice any difference?
wasup!
19mhz is not too low, i've used it and had a huge increase in battery life.
I am using profiles also at the moment.

Hi,
You can download from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
If you like the app, you can donate getting from Maket. Look for "setcpu for root users". It is only 1.99 USD.
After seeing the charts done by Sky with the kernal comparison using CurrentWidget, i decided to install that on my setup. I was shocked to find out that after 10 minutes of screen off, sleep it was idle at 410MA average. The smallest I saw was 360. That seems rediculously high. I have noticed a massive drain like many others seem to have as well. I unplugged from the charger at 11am today, no facebook, no games, 2 texts, and checked email once. I am now sitting at 60 percent.
With or without SetCPU it still has very high draw.
Has anybody with high battery drain installed CurrentWidget and checked to see what the ma draw is?
Setup:
Fresh 3.3.0.1 w/stock kernal
No setCPU and with SetCPU (Screen off profile: powersave 245. Conservative governor screen on.)
Newest radio, wimax, prl, nv (0 TWS)
Wifi, GPS, everything off, including random account syncs and Google Talk
Using froyo unrooted w/ latest updates I get 300 half brightness
Edit: more testing shows 230 mA with backlight off and 198 with it at half??
Edit2: I can pull a max of 688 with the works running a speed test. Bluetooth 4g WiFi gps hotspot max brightness. Still no oc.
Edit3: some things I noticed: task managers do not save battery (already knew that, first empirical example), moving widgets around the screen can get your current draw as high as having all of the radios on at max brightness.
Final idle power draw is 180 mA.

Hello,
This is something I do want to share for people who has problems with the battery drainage. I don't have the intention to know it all, and I am not a developer. I'm just happy XDA user.
Like most of the users here we all like Android on our HD2 but the battery drainage can be annoying. I searched a lot threads for the right settings with SetCPU etc.
One day I was fed up with it and installed a new ROM, new radio, new kernel and a new Android. See my signature which versions (also for download).
All I needed to install again was SetCPU. On the Android market I found a program called CPU Tuner. So I installed it and looked what I could do with it.
There wasn't really much to adjust, but weirdest thing of all is that the battery drainage is really minimal. I send some textmessages, had a few phonecalls... Surfed the net for like 15 minutes. My Wifi and 3G are on all the time.
Please don't ask me how it's possible, but I thought just to share it with you.
Here are the settings of CPU Tuner:
Tab Current
Governor
interactive
Max 998 MHz
Min 245 MHz
Tab Profiles
I have 3 Profiles
1st
AC Power
Interactive
Max 653 MHz
Min 245 MHz
2nd
Battery Power
Interactive
Max 768 MHz
Min 245 MHz
3th
Critical Battery
Interactive
Max 691 MHz
Min 245 MHz
Tab Settings
Got "Enables Profiles" switched on
Got "Start on boot" switched on
Got "Statusbar notifications" switched on
Got "Toast notifications" switched on
So it looks like setCPU a lot but can't change settings that much.
If you got any questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them.
grtz. Sander
I dont have the interactive option on mine... just indemand and others such as powersave.... but no interactive. What should I use?
Also what is your current widget drainage showing?
Is your phone rooted? And which kernel do you have?
If you have a rooted phone and Hastarin 8.1 kernel, you should have the option of interactive with CPU Tuner (also with SetCPU).
Do you have a widget for me to measure my drainage? I will let you know if what it is...

Use CurrentWidget on the market.
With my current setup (VBNROM Reloaded 2, NexusHD2-FRG83 v1.6, hastarin 8.1 kernel, 2.15 Radio) I've found the only way to get consistent <10mA idle is with setCPU and Tasker. I understand that setCPU is supposed to be redundant with the newer kernels, but without it, my phone drains in the 20-30 mA range. I only use a screen off profile on setCPU, 245 max. That's it.
I've also found that GPS tends to really drain the battery when the phone isn't using wifi for location. Tasker (available for $$ on the market) is great for this - I set it to only turn on GPS when I open maps or navigation.
Also -- searching for wifi seems to also drain the battery, so either turn it off when you aren't using it, or set wifi to sleep when the screen is off (settings --> wireless & network --> wifi settings --> [menu/start button] Advanced --> wifi sleep policy).
I use Shubcraft 2.0, with the ElBartoMe kernel (no overclocking, or undervolting as far as I'm aware) and NO setcpu at all, my drainage is <8Ma on average in standby and my battery lasts about 20 hours with what I would call moderate usage (about 2 hours a day listening to mp3's, at least an hour on the phone, 3G permanently on and syncing every 30 mins for facebook, gmail etc and about an hour or so gaming as well. Even at the 20 hour mark I've still always got about 15% left anyway, I just leave it to charge while I get my (very little amount of) sleep.
I've downloaded currentwidget and I will keep it running from now on.
I had it set on refresh every minute
operation on value "none
Checked Write to log file
Checked Log running applications.
So tommorrow I will share my log file. Maybe you people can get more info out of the file
I use the new MDJ S2 kernel with the smartass governor.
It has the CPU profiles built into the kernel, so you don't have to use any SetCPU profiles, and it extended my battery life by like 2X, it's pretty amazing, I was on hastarin r8 before.
I recommend you try it out.

So if I'm right, the latest kernels have already the right settings built in?
Like Hastarin 8.1 and the MDJ S2 kernel...
And I was thinking that I found a solution by accident
I have created a log, but I have logged it from minute to minute.
So if you are interrested I will place it.
For now I chanched it to every hours so it will be easier.
I downloaded the cputuner but cannot find the governor "interactive" on the list. Is there another one that would work?
Hey,
thanks a lot sander! Using your guide I got my battery drainage on standby from 50-60 mA to 7mA! Really helps, cheers again!

Alright guys, I've had my Dinc for almost a week now, and I think I've found a pretty good set up as far as what I need goes.
I am a professional auto detailer so I have my headphones in about 8-10 hours a day. I LOVE pandora and normally if you play pandora it will kill your phone within 4 hours.
SOOOOOOOO I decided to create a little survey to see what Kernel/Rom, O/C app, Governor, Profiles/Settings, Notes, etc.
Please guys share your settings, I would love to try out everyones setups and see what really is the ULTIMATE set up for the Droid incredible
Please everyone stick to the format just so its easily understandable for everyone who isn't part of the forums or doesn't understand what everything is.
I'll start with mine
Rom - Stock Plus
Kernel - GingerTiny
O/C app - SetCPU
Governor - On Demand
Profiles/Settings - (1) Screen Off - Priority 100 - On Demand - 245 max - 128 min
(2) Battery <101% - Priority 50 - On Demand - 960 max - 128 min
Notes - I've found I can last about 10 hours streaming radio the whole time
Also, I've found that IheartRadio uses less resources than Pandora, Thus using less battery.
When I'm not streaming any music either, I have had my phone stay on the SAME percent - 66% - for 10 hours STRAIGHT and then It stayed on 65% all night when I get home, and when I woke up in the morning it was only on 60%

I'm gonna try this out today and see how it well it works with streaming music all day. The reason I've set profiles is because I feel like when I'm playing Pandora andthe screen is off, it will force it to go to the lowest voltage I have set, whereas if I don't set profiles it will play at whatever voltage feels nessecary. That's just the way I see it, if anyone can confirm or deny this let me know.
BTW nice addition to the survey, Idk why I didn't add io scheduled in the first place lol

I do use an app called Automateit PRO which I have used to create many different custom "rules". Every rule has a "trigger" and an "action". Some of my rules are used to automatically disable (or enable) 3G, Wifi, and GPS at certain times and/or situations that are appropriate. That really helps with battery usage...and its convenient that I don't need to do the enabling and disabling manually. But streaming music would require pretty much constant data connection of one kind or another.
