Help the village idiot - which RUU to flash ? - Wildfire General

So I managed to find this nice guy who S-Offed my phone.
I read all the threads I could, tried this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981765
which too me to this page
http://www.gadget-reviews.me/2011/03/how-we-rooted-and-downgraded-htc.html
where it told me to flash this file:
RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_130814_signed
from shipped roms, which I did.
Now the touch screen does not work. The phone boots OK, but the ON+DOWN menu reports :
Touch screen: fail
I checked, and fortunately, I can still access the phone with RUU.
Now, my question is a simple one. Which WWE RUU do I need to flash to regain touch screen access (I think it was the ATMEL one, not 100% sure now), which will enable me to unrevoke the phone as I would like to use Cyanomodgen 7.
Thanks in advance

Thank you, I followed the instructions to the letter (not trying to be too clever this time) and it solved one of my problems.
Then, when unrevoking the phone with 3.32, I got the "No CID Backup error" which took me some time to sort out, but eventually this was fixed by using unrevoke 3.2-test
After this, I flashed Cyanogenmod 7 and the google apps, and everything is fine now.

Ok but there are still methods in the forum for unrooting just like how you rooted. I would just do a search for them and choose which one you feel is the easiest for you to understand. Also if you are getting another EVO unrevoked 3.21 is as many in here have said easy peasy for rooting.
Good luck

Precisely. It can be found here:
*OFFICIAL* RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.29.651.5_Radio_2.15. 00.09.01_NV_1.77_CNV_rel.
One thing to check first: do you have S-OFF? This would be the case if you ever ran Unrevoked Forever or Unrevoked 3.21. If so, you'll need to flash the Unrevoked Forever S-ON tool from recovery before running the RUU.

Reboot into the bootloader (turn phone off, then hold power+volume down until it comes on). Then look at the end of the first line.
If it says SHIP S-ON, you're good.
If it says SHIP S-OFF, you need to run the Unrevoked tool.
If it says ENG S-OFF (which should be the case if you used Toast's method), it is indeterminate.
However, if you never used Unrevoked at all, you shouldn't have to worry about it. You can check after you run the RUU, which will reset it to the SHIP bootloader.
I believe the 3.29 RUU resets everything, including the PRI. Toast's method downgraded the PRI, and it was difficult to get it back before the current update, so this used to be a sure-fire way of telling whether you had rooted. Unless you had a bad Wimax flash and broke your 4G, I *think* you should be OK. But I don't know for sure.

I just unrooted mine last night and it only took me 5 mins, just flash the unrevoked and then do the update on the PC36IMG and thats it.

[Q] Please explain this to a stupid person that is confused by all this.

The phonecompany 3 updated my phone, when it went for repairs, so now it has that horrible HTC Sense on it. It asked them to remove it, but they refuse, and actually IN the shop tell me to hack it.
Now my question comes, because no-one seems to know anything about this.
I have tried searching the internet, and this forum, but information on how to do it, seems to be different from the people you ask.
I have a 3 mobile HTC Magic 32A branded HTC.
Radio 6.35.x
CPLD-12
HBOOT 1.76.0009
What is required? I have read something that I need to replace the "SPL". Is that the HBOOT, or what? I have found some guides that refer to me as to going into my command prompt and somehow comunicating with my phone... how on earth is that possible?
This is where I am right now, and the more I search and read, the more confused I get, so I hope someone can clarify the process of rooting a magic. i have rooted my old Desire before (Not mine anymore), with a so-called "risk-free" guide. Easy as pi, once you read 5 lines, and downloaded 2 files.
Please clarify this for me, before I loose my hair over this.
EDIT: I have the phone rooted, with an app called "Universal AndRoot". It seems to have root, but no matter what bootloader I try clockworkmod or RA, the first crashes, and reboots the phone, the lather freezes within seconds... is it proper rooted, or just "half"?
What to do?

those are not bootloaders... those are recovery images.
You have a 32A, which means that you need an EBI1 recovery image. You are probably installing EBI0 recoveries, which won't work.
Thank you for clarifying.
So clockworkmod are "EBI0" recoveries.
What are "EBI1" recoveries then?
Use the recovery from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=816345
PS: Your phone is running what is called "New radio"/NR/6.35. If you want to run stock Cyanogenmod or anything like that you need to downgrade your radio and SPL. A good FroYo ROM for 6.35 is FroyoRider.

amonra? I am not sure what that means, but I will search the internet for how to install a recovery image on ones phone (32A HTC Magic)
I type this in a terminal "flash_image recovery /sdcard/1.7.0.1.img" without quotes, yes I renamed it.
It says: erroroutput[usage: flash_image partition file.img
What am I doing wrong now?
Nobody knows?
Do u have ask set up and the ability to fastboot flash recovery? I would do that

If I have what?
Sorry. Gotta love auto spell. I typed sdk. U have to have android sdk to set up adb to control your phone through your computer. Then u can use fastboot flash. First u need an Eng spl with the right radio to use it.

you will also need to install correct drivers on your pc, install pdanet on your desktop, that should do it
In order to use fastboot to push any commands the phone must have an ENG. Hboot. When you boot into bootloader what does it say on the top line on the page with the skateboarding andriods on the bottom? If it says VISION PVT SHIP S-ON your pretty much stuck. The phone is a paper weight. HTC is probably the only one who can fix this. It must say VISION PVT ENG S-OFF or at least VISION PVT SHIP S-OFF if there is any chance for fixing it. The only other hopes in fixing it is to flasch the stock PC10IMG to the phone in bootloader but this will only work if the phone did NOT have the OTA 1.22 rom update applyed to it. There is no way to tell this unless you try it out, but if you do have S-OFF do not try this because it will turn S back on and your screwed. If it says S-Off there is a cooked version of the PC10IMG by hot_hands that you can flash that will keep your S-Off and give you root access plus it will flash the ENG Hboot for you, I have a copy of this at home and can post it later for you, if you have S-Off.

[Q] HTC Magic UK Vodafone Unlocked/Rooted 2.2.1

Hello,
I've got an HTC Magic UK Vodafone branded phone (32B) which had the official OTA 2.2.1 install which included SPL 1.33.0013 and Radio 2.22.28.05 (shows S-ON in the top right).
Now it's let me root it with SuperOneClick and SU seems to be working OK but it wont let me flash any kind of recovery.
If i try any fastboot commands i get "remote:Not Allowed", now i've been reading through the forums and i've got myself very confused with all the different solutions and none of them seemed to happen to anyone running 1.33.0013.
Anyone who's a bit more up on the HTC Magics able to give me a pointer on what i need to do? do i have to try and flash back to 1.6 (not sure how to do that yet) or do i need to start wipeing and changing SPLs? My phone is a Dell Streak and this is the wifes phone, bit of a different kettle of fish this one.
If i've missed the obvious post that answers all of this please just point me to it and the mods can delete this post but i couldn't find my exact situation anywhere.
Thanks
Pete
Use rom manager to flash recovery. The new hboot is s-on so no fastboot
Sent from my Gingerbread on Sapphire using XDA Premium App
I was using ROM Manager but i just read another guide which mentioned although it's an HTC Magic, the 32B means i need to select Ion/MT3G not the HTC Magic option!
Which means i've been trying to flash the wrong recovery, could be why i was getting nowhere.
Thanks for the hboot heads up, i wondered why i couldn't get any commands to work.
I'll try the correct recovery in a mo and see how i go....
you sir are a genius lol that was indeed my problem....just talked the wife through it over MSN and she's describing the 1.70 recovery screen now woohoo!
Now to decide what things to start flashing on it hehe More reading to be done

Not rooted Wildfire stuck in bootloop - need help

I got my sisters Wildfire here and it's stuck in a bootloop.
It is NOT rooted, has no S-Off and so on.
It has the stock rom.
It didn't run fluently, so I just rebooted it. But since then it doesn't boot.
Tried taking out battery, putting it back in, no success.
Tried taking out SD-Card. no success.
Then I booted into Bootloader (Vol + Power down).
Buzz PVT Ship S-ON
HBOOT-1.01.0001
MICROP-0622
TOUCH PANEL-ATMELCO 3_16ac
RADIO-3.35.20.10
All I get to choose is Fastboot, Recovery, Clear storage and Sim-lock.
Recovery turns out to be nothing, I can't get to it. Might be, because there is no CWM on it.
I was lucky to be able to root and s-off my DHD, so I don't have any idea, how to fix this problem with the Wildfire.
Any suggestions how to solve this little problem?
Thanks in advance
Which method u adopted for rooting....try revolutionary method and u will be s-on....bt ur mobile doesn't on....try to intall ruu which can be downloaded from shipped-roms.com,download wwe version file....run it,it will install stock rom again, then enable debugging mode, goto revolutionary.io fill the form and copy generated alphanumeric code carefully and download the file run it and u will get s-on....

And if, what to do next with it?
Thanks in advance
- Extract the Rom.zip from the RUU you listed. Procedure here:
http://lukasz.szmit.eu/2010/04/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-android.html
- Rename this zip to PC49IMG.zip
- Place this on the root of the sd card
- Reboot in HBoot mode, the phone will detect the file and will attempt to install. Select Yes and let it proceed.
Thanks, I'll do that when I'm done in University :-D
Just so I have more opportunities in case this happens again.
Could you give me a link to a instruction how to root and s-off?
This would help
And, just in case, which do you think is the best Custom Rom for the Wildfire?
You can use Revolutionary to get S-OFF and Clockworkmod Recovery. Guide here:
http://joel5121.blogspot.com/2011/06/wildfire-22-root-tutorial.html
The only thing that has changed is AlphaRev's Website. The new address is revolutionary.io. Everything else remains the same. Although, you will need a booting device to get it to work.
Lastly, ROM choice depends on whether one would like to keep HTC Sense or not. If not, then I would go with Cyanogenmod / Oxygen (Two ROMs I am pretty sure are available for the DHD as well). And, if you would like to keep HTC Sense, then the current favorites are DK Custom ROM and RemPuzzleROM.
Complete Listing available in the Index Thread linked in my Sig.
Good Luck
I only want to flash a ROM on the Wildfire. My dhd runs on arhd and I won't change that well, unless there's a newer version of arhd
Anyways, what is the best sense ROM
for the Wildfire? Should run smooth but stable and fast. And of course it should've good battery life
Sent from my refrigerator using Tapatalk
I'm stuck myself. Wildfire is working again, but neither can I root nor can I make S-OFF.
On AlphaRevX it "sends in Caroline" and "Caroline" comes out with an error report
However, USB-Debugging was turned on, SD Card active, connected to pc, but "only charge"...
That far for S-Off...
Then I'm trying unrevoked. Works so far, until the Wildifre is in the bootloader. Unrevoked tells me, it's waiting for bootloader. When I choose Fastboot on the device, unrevoked works on and tells me "Waiting for HBOOT to be ready..."
Nothing happens after that. If I choose Bootloader on the device, unrevoked tells me, that it has lost connection to the phone.
Then I tried Gingerbreak. Gingerbreak works, reboots the phone, I check for SU and can't find it. So I guess it's not rooted then :-/
Any suggestions?
Your only (free) option is Revolutionary on Wildfire's with official 2.2.1 and HBoot 1.01.x. Any other method (Unrevoked, Gingerbreak, SuperOneClick etc) will not work and will result in failure. Errors on Revolutionary can usually be treated EXCEPT when it says "Not writing bad block at mtd 0x00000", in which case, there are bad blocks on the NAND memory, and there is no fix yet.
The paid option is to find a store with an XTC Clip hardware box, which can S-OFF the Wildfire as well. They will charge you a 1-time fee for using it.

But this other tool for s-off ain't working either. If I'd have at least s-off...in this tutorials I first make s-off and afterwards there is a zip archive which will give me SU. Can I install cwm without Root? I'd really like to flash cyanogen...
