[Q] Motoblur email - Droid 2 General

I have a droid r2d2 running liberty 2.0.1
before i rooted and flashed liberty, i used the motoblur apps. the modified email app that came with my phone worked great with hotmail once it was configured to work with exchange. unfortunately, liberty's default email client can't load pictures or comprehend html. my hotmail address is my primary email address and id like to have somewhere of having a usable client on my phone. for now ive configured hotmail to forward all of my mail to my gmail.
is there a better email client (that works with hotmail exchange, unlike k-9) or can i get motoblur's email client back somehow? thanks!

Does anyone know? ;_;

Problems sending an email

I have a pop3 hotmail account as my default acct. I receive emails fine, but when I try to send any, they just sit in my outbox. Then when I try to resend them from there it gives me a connection error message. I'm still running stock as I haven't figured out how to root yet. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated...thanks!

Which email app are you using? Are you using the hugely and immensely CRAPTASTIC default Email app? If so, then that's the fly-in-your-chardonnay.
Look for K-9 Mail in the market, and use that instead. Eons better and actually works.

The default htc mail app has a bug that prevents hotmail via activesync. Use k9 mail or exchange by touchdown

Hi, there was another thread on this the other day. I've finally managed to set up my phone with hotmail using Activesync.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900973
Make sure that your username is your full email address rather than just the first part. eg. if your email is [email protected], it'll probably default your username to just sausage. Change it to use your full email.
Also for the server make sure you change it to m.hotmail.com.
Good luck
I always get the error, failed to create account. Please try again later.
I had to install the stock 2.2 mail app which works.
Id love to get this to work on the stock app tho.
This works in the 1.72 update now on the HTC Mail App... However I get constant sync-ing issues with mine so I dont use it and use the web email for now until they have sorted it out.
K9 don't work with hotmail exchange. M$ uses a old protocol not supported by K9 (well from the last time I used it anyway).
Google Mail app works (no html support) and touchdown (with HTML support).
Imo just push all your email to a Google account. Setting up a hotmail account is kinda troublesome. Gmail works better for DHD IMHO.
It now works with the new OTA. If you're still having problems, I suggest using Android Revolution HD 2.0.5. It solved the issue for me.

Email Client/Universal Inbox

So my first Android phone was a Motorola Cliq, and while the phone was awful there was one feature that I really liked and that was the Universal Email Client that it offered, that would take 2 or 3 email addresses and push them all into the same queue.
I am wondering if anyone knows of a good widget that has this capability.
On the Cliq I had a hotmail account, a corporate exchange server account, and two gmail accounts all with one notification and one email inbox. It was really handy for an email junkie.
Try k9 mail on the market place. I love this app, its free, and it really works......
1st!

Maildroid does it. It is a very good (and free) email client.

Yahoo mail working from stock email app

Ok, so I just wanted to share little-something with you guys here at XDA
As you probably know adding Yahoo mail from stock EMail app will not get you anywhere... BUT what I found working is next:
1) Go to Social hub app;
2) Add account type "other";
3) fill in your yahoo mail settings;
4) and yep, it will pass verification
5) yahoo mail will be automatically added to EMail app;
6) use your Yahoo mail without need for installing other email client
Greetings!
I setup using stock Email app itself without any problem. Did you tried the stock first?

Of course I did I saw other people had this problem...

Yahoo mail not giving push service when you add in stock email app.(b'coz yahoo doesn't support idle IMAP)
there is separate yahoo mail app on market by yahoo inc. Working fine for me with push mail support
Another third party client supports yahoo push service is seven mail.
I had no issue setting Yahoo up. If you use the default app auto setup it uses pop email. Don't use this use the manual option and setup as an imap email account. The settings are available with a quick google.
i tried adding yahoo in def mail client using auto and it didnt work. when added in described way auto gives samsung.imap.mail.yahoo.com for incoming mail client. so, this is quick way of adding yahoo without need for manual settings. i use yahoo as secondary email so this does the job.
When you mean default , I meant Samsung default email app. I used settings as Imap.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
I then setup gmail and hotmail manually using the Microsoft exchange options and also had push email too if wanted.
So default Samsung email app works really well without using Google email app.
Stock email app only asked for my email address and configured my yahoo account automatically. Has worked fine since day 1.

I use the yahoo mail app for my note, I would love to use the stock email app but it does not support push notifications and I don't think its on yahoo's part for the push notifications as on my ipod I use the mail app and its push notifications work fine with my yahoo account so I'm thinking its the stock app that doesn't support push notifications and hopefully the email app has push notifications on ICS
Composed on my Samsung Galaxy Note using XDA Premium app

Email Client, don't want to use Gmail

Hey all,
So, I guess there was an update where Gmail takes over the native email client. Thing is, I don't want to use Gmail to manage the mail, I want to use the regular one. In the instructions on how to get Gmail out, is says to go to accounts, then select the POP/IMAP accounts you don't want managed by Gmail. I don't have that option, for me, Gmail is everywhere. When I try to add an account, it's Gmail.
Any idea on the Moto how I can go back? Uninstall Gmail? And any idea why the Moto Mail app is incompatible with the Moto X Pure?
Thanks
Apparently Moto came up with another one, but it shows as incompatible so far.......another waiting game i suppose.

Gmail app somehow borked up my yahoo email in gmail app, when yahoo email forced a password change. Couldn't get it to work anymore and couldn't remove the instance of yahoo email from the app/accounts either. Sometimes I think Google intentionally sets things up to not work very well with competitors' stuff like this.
I'm using K-9 mail app for yahoo email now, works well enough for me.
Not seeing the moto email client on play...
I just gave up on pre installed mail apps altogether and have been using CloudMagic client as my default. Odd name I know, but its easily one of the best email clients I've used on android.
I just started using blue mail and really like the looks and feel. I used kaiten forever but it started giving me problems with this phone.

I actually prefer to keep my emails separate. I use yahoo app for Yahoo mail. Gmail for my gmail accounts. Outlook for exchange and my Hotmail account.
I like it organized and separated better that way. Especially since I have two business accounts it helps to keep it organized and my exchange accounts always sync perfect via outlook

I never use pre-installed email or Gmail client. Big fan of K-9 app. Give K-9 and other apps mentioned here a try, you may find one to your liking.

Another vote for K-9 Mail.
My issue with CloudMagic (if I remember correctly), they store your emails on their servers. They also spam you with ads unless you specifically opt-out.
You have to have an outside link to view the Moto email client on the play store. I wonder why it's not compatible with their flagship phone? I also would like to use this app.
For my work exchange account, Outlook is doing OK so far. But I'd sure like to find a way to force the new Moto mail app onto our devices.
I use Nine for exchange.

The best.
Does nine or k9 allow you to bypass exchange security like mailwise?
Thanks for all the suggestions, but has anyone found an answer to the original question? how do I default back to the stock email client on the Moto? The instructions Google provides don't match with what I see on my screen...
Thanks
the moto email client used to be the AOSP email client, until google made gmail app handle all mail types from what i understand. You would have to root and unlock to get the old AOSP mail app.
Theres a new moto mail app that is supposed to be on the new droid coming out but it shows incompatible for our pure, maybe in the future that will be available.
