[Q] stock mt4g rom - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i was looking through dev section and Q and A but cant seem to find out which clockwork mod do i need to restore my stock mt4g rom back up because each time i try i get stuck on the splash screen and nothing happens.. thanks a lot and i am a noob sorry

The latest one through Rom Manager 3.0.2.4, 3.0.0.6 and 2.5.1.2 all support Froyo based ROMs. Download Rom Manager from the market if you haven't already and flash 3.0.2.4, it handles both Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs.

That depends on what your trying to flash. If your trying to flash the pd15img you can't do that from recovery. If your trying to flash one the posted roms do as the previous poster suggested and download the rom manager

Can I Flash My g1 with the recovery flasher app using these mod v4.0.4
i flashed once with the other mod (Cyanogen 4.0.1). but i rolled back and now thinking of rooting it with the new mod thanks
Yes you can use ther recovery flasher to flash any roms except hero since you need the danger spl for them, so flash to your heart's content
check the sig lol.
awesome worked great thank you!! one other question do i flash the themes the same way as the rom only load a same cynogen theme version right?
Yup you load themes the same way, themes are version and rom specific only so do not flash something that it is not made to work with
thank you guys you have been very helpful!

[Q] Did I brick my epic?!?! plzz help!!

what happen is that i just rooted and added clockworkmod onto my epic and right after i went into clockworkmod to flash a theme and a keyboard at the same time and when i went to reboot it didnt reboot pass the samsung logo.
You probably just need to restore one of your nand backups in cwm
Did you try flashing the theme with a deodexed rom?

Nope, you are not bricked. Find the thread that returns your phone to stock. Follow the directions closely. Once that is done, re-root your phone. It sound like the poster before me was right, you tried to flash a theme on a stock rom that was not deodexed.
so whats a good deodexed rom i can use??
Personally I like the nebula dk28 rom

Remove CM7.1

Searched the entire XDA forum and couldn't find a thread like this one (at least one that explains what i want to accomplish). Let's cut to the chase...
CyanogenMod7.1 - i've got it and i used it and i don't like it (don't ask me why, maybe i used touchwiz for too long so i got accustomed to it ), so i want my original kernel and ROM back... And I know exactly which ones to use , got them downloaded right here. The thing is - I'm not sure how to do it. Should i use clockworkmod recovery and flash it? Should i use RomManager? Should i use Odin? Any help from someone who has done would be appreciated.
And also , one more question... Somewhere i found a comment by a guy that says that if i was to flash back original ROM and kernel i would still be stuck with a custom recovery. Can anyone explain that too ?
If by ANY chance a thread like this exists I'm sorry i opened a new one ( I really did search for a long time ). Cheers everyone

The desktop version suits me just fine -.-
Hey, im pretty sure your answer has been answered many times before in guides how to flash ROMs.
You haven't stated what ROM you were on previous so i will assume that it was stock.
if you are flashing a full stock ROM use Odin, look at the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
It has a full guide to which files go where to get back to your stock rom and kernal.
ps. the comment you mentioned, that person might have been referring to a custom ROM, if you chose to flash a custom rom based on stock then you would stay with a custom recovery.

Thanks for the reply, I know about intratech's thread , that's where i downloaded my stock from. The thing is I wasn't sure which way to do it. I read more about recovery last night and i found out that on sgsII it is linked to the rom, so basically when i flash a stock rom and a stock kernel using odin i would get the normal - default recovery partition? Should I wipe data/cache before flashing back the stock ?

If you downloaded from Intratechs post you will get a stock rom with a stock kernel, this will give you a default recovery. All of the downloads there are 100% samsung so there wont be anything modded or changed.
You wont have to wipe data/cache before you do it as when flashing via odin you will be putting your phone in to download mode and odin will do the rest.
Just make sure to read the guide in Intratechs thread to the letter.
My advise to you for the future is to read up completly before flashing something just so you arent stuck with something you dont like on your phone.

Flashed it and all is fine now... Altough i did get an infinite boot loop so i had to wipe data/cache anyway for the phone to boot properly... So I guess it wouldn't hurt to do it before flashing stock... Btw i knew what i was flashing , i wanted to try it out... Ty for the reply

Rooted ICS ROM RA or CWM Flashable ICS Posted!

Fully rooted ICS ROM, using Ra recovery or CWM flashable.
Rom is up, it's 3:44 am here (EST). Off to bed!
Thanks! I still wonder where that image comes from during boot up. It's like a snapshot of my home screen on the previous rom.

It's happening on all ICS ROMs using the newest modified stock kernel. Nothing to be alarmed about lol
Newb sorry, but let me get thist straight. If i flash this rom on stock 3.2.1, this will give me a rom and root? Or do i need to be rooted first? sorry for the newb question.
You need to be rooted first, then install a custom recovery (ClockworksMod [CWM] or RA).

Updated link!
File size?
Half a gig for this ROM? Is that going to be normal for ICS roms, or is there extra studff in here that won't be part of the official release (other than the images, and mentioned Polaris).
Just wondering...
Thanks for the ROM, though!
Thread is now closed, PM has been sent to OP.

(?) Revert to stock ROM

Hi everybody. I just rooted my phone today and installed a custom ROM but after looking at it for 5 minutes I decided I want to go back to my original ROM (The one the phone came with). I made a backup before flashing the custom ROM with Clockwork mod (If that's what it's called?). I might install a Custom ROM later but I'm not going to un-root my phone. How can I do this? Revert back to my stock ROM?
Edit: I didn't know about the thread thing, sorry
Just wanted to make sure I was on the safe side. I didn't know I could make 2 backups. That's good to know. Thanks for the tip ;D

Lol. Why u always open new thread bro?
Just change topic from ur old thread and i think its continous question so u will get the flow from ur answered..
So u have nandroid backup from stock rom via cwm recovery. Great.
U can use it to change all ur previous rom. Just go to recovery mode and choose recovery. If i wanna backup ur custom rom is good idea too. So u have 2 backup for stock and custom rom.

EDIT: I flashed another Custom ROM since none of the first 2 would work. Everything seems to be working fine now. If anything goes wrong I'll post a comment or something XP. Thank you all for your help.
