[WIP] Dinc2 To Thunderbolt port... WIP - Thunderbolt Android Development

So I have started a WIP to backport sense 2.1 to our thunderbolt devices from a Desire HD rom Android version 2.2.1
Idea: Completly port Dinc2 dump for our thunderbolts (or backport rosie to get her workin and playin nicely on our T-bolts)
using
http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-incredible-s/67802-extracted-droid-incredible-2-system-dump.html
Adrynalyne has been kind enough to share his already started port on D2inc with me as a starting point hopefully we have something fun to play with by tomorrow
So I think we might be able to port 2.3.3 to our devices from desire HD devices now
THANK YOU CYANOGEN FOR THE RIL LIBS FOR OUR DEVICES
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1064107
i believe now we can get some sweet working ports of new 2.3 based roms
I am still gunna play with the Dinc2 Stuff but im really gunna focus on Desire HD 2.3.3 Ports ( i really like those roms its just my preference )

changlog:
05/01/2011 Release:
Hd2Thunderbolt A0.0.1
-Took Deodex Debloat 1.13.605.7 Thunderbolt Rom Stripped Stock Sense
-Added Sense From CmyLxgo's Stock desire HD rom
-zip'd and signed
:: what Works :::
Boots at least to first splash haven't made it past that yet
::what doesn't work::
http://www.4shared.com/file/-YvMdKA4/HD2Thunderbolta001.html?
05/02/2011 ** havent tested yet i gotta work in 30 minutes but this was driving me nuts last night**
-removed com.orange.authentication.simcard.jar
-updated bootanimation to desire HD (HTC with quietly brilliant underneath)
http://www.4shared.com/file/1DS4sXom/HD2ThunderboltA002.html?
ok so a0.0.2 doesnt boot all the way either... it boots to the point of where its a mountable file structure but wont play
DINC2 Ports (started by Adrynalyne)
http://www.multiupload.com/EY3NTCNR1G <- we will consider this D2A0.0.1 as it is a starting point for me and i have not yet done any work/modified this at all
**not working on this currently**
Radio
2d accelleration
Plans For Future:
Get Adrynalynes port working 100% (i think right now data and something else is broken i will need to refer to him for more info)
Goal:
have Sense 2.1.1 on our thunderbolts cuz verizon screwed us and gave us 2.0

hey man this looks promising good luck

thanks i am goin to be in touch with skyraider in hopes he can give me some pointers... IDK if eugene is still around anywhere but ill see if he remembers me

Looks promising, but question. Why not backport the leaked Gingerbread ROM for DHD rather than a froyo ROM ?

the difference in system file structer between 2.3 and 2.2.1 in essence its just easier to do this and its the same sense just not as new android :-\
Depending on what kind of help/input/pointers i get... i might try to get the 2.3 stuff backported but we cant run the 2.3 without RIL libs for our devices
hence not really porting
more like a merge
umm
a FrankenROM if you will
so its like thunderbolt android 2.2.1 with desire hd sense 2.1.1 instead of thunderbolt 2.0 sense

Edit: Beaten to the punch!
I would wager it's because we don't have a working 2.3 RIL other than from CM7. As far as I know, slayher hasn't released his work on that.

It would be easier to port the Dinc2 rom, imo.
I only messed with it for about 15 minutes, but had most things working, sans radio.

What's the difference between Sense 2.0 and 2.1.1 anyway?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App

I'd take a look at sensation and doubleshot gingerbread roms and see about those since R2DoesInc got them running on the TB. Maybe you can do gingerbread fully without RIL and merge it in later.

Rosie's app drawer, tweets read from the HTC clock, other than that, just small little touches.

Is this one different? http://www.androidcentral.com/gingerbread-rom-htc-desire-z-leaks-out

The Incredible 2 is running Sense 2.1 on Froyo. There is a system dump floating around, that may help.
I got the INC2 rom to boot, works great as is just no data/phone.

Your missing the point you can't backport the android OS without a working RIL LIB so were stuck on 2.2.1 sense 3.0 only works on 2.3+ therefore sense 2.1.1 is the only way to go
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

So should RIL from sense 2.0 work with 2.1 if both are on Android 2.2.1? I couldn't get it with the INC2 dump.

That and I don't wanna do a full port as to not lose functionality or have to hack together functionalality when I could just backport only sense to our thunderbolt RUU Rom

the only thing that depends on the RI is android itself rosie(sense) is just a pretty launcer for android in all reality
so with that being said im basicaly taking a RUU thunderbolt rom
Stripping our Verizion thunderbolt 2.0 sense from our thunder bolt android 2.2.1 rom
leaving us with (is essence) a semi bloated aosp build.
Then you take that pretty launcher (rosie and her parts)
from an HD2 or Droid Incredible 2 build and port them to our now sensless 2.2.1 rom (seeing as i stripped sense off it )
thats the idea
not to do a full port
just to port a newer sense to our already 2.2.1 devices

ill keep an eye out for that
but in all reality you can port rosie from any device regardless of specs i just figured the HD because the screen is close to our size/resolution so the rosie would be a little bit nicer looking to our screens

Gotcha. Even though there are small cosmetic changes, sense 2.1 is much snappier on the HD2 than 2.0. Looking forward to it.

I doubt it, because even though the OS is the same, the Incredible uses different hardware, is not labeled desirec, and has a different resolution then the Eris.

Thanks anyway, if it's true they can't use it.
Weren't the current Froyo ROMs ported from the Nexus? That's certainly no more similar to the Eris.
Sent from my FroyoEris using Tapatalk
I know that the hardware is different but so is every other device running Froyo (sanctioned from the manufacturer) but it has been adapted to work on the Eris. If I'm not mistaken though, this is the first Froyo ROM with sense and even though I don't like sense, it doesn't mean others don't want a sense based froyo rom.
Yes a sense based froyo rom would be pretty dang cool
Agreed!
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
It would be sweet that's why I bought my Eris for sense.
I'd be all over a Sense ROM with all the Sense widgets
I agree a froyo port would be very awesome.
If I understand correctly this is the state of froyo for the eris:
All the devices that have gotten froyo + sense have hdpi screen resolutions (http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html) while the eris has an mdpi screen resolution. To port you would have to scale down all the images (lots of them), plus some other tweaks to be able to run it on the eris. Last I read several people have tried to port it (I know Framework43 was trying to port it, and I think koas said he might try to port it). Right now it would be very hard to port, and we *most likely* will not get it until an mdpi device (such as the HTC Legend) gets froyo + sense.
From what I understand this should be beneficial for us getting full on Flash 10.1

Is the Legend on schedule to get Froyo? Or is it like the Eris where it's not been announced either way?
Well at least its got to make it a little easier to get flash on the Eris with Froyo. Even without the rest of Sense, I'd be ecstatic to see flash or even flash lite on Froyo.
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
Thanks for the interesting info, homewmt!
I don't think a Froyo Sense ROM would make it easier to get full Flash on the Eris. The fact of the matter is that Flash was written for the ARMv7 instruction set, and we run ARMv6.
The only reason it's been hacked into Sense based ROMs at all is because of Flash-lite. I don't even think Flash-lite will be a part of Froyo Sense deployments since manufacturers only seem concerned about ARMv7 devices getting the update, which all support official Flash.
I could be wrong about all of that, but I call 'em as I see 'em.
Sent from my ERIS using XDA App
I'm pretty sure Flash-lite just provided a way for the browser to call up Flash 10.1 after it was installed. The version of flash I use on eclair is still intended for only Arm7 and above. It runs slow on the Eris because it's Arm6, but it does run. Then again, maybe that's just my eternal optimism showing since I like everything else about Froyo better.

Probably the optimism thing.
Personally, I'm not all that jazzed about Flash. It's not REALLY a feature I ever had, so I haven't had a chance to miss it.
That's not to say that I wouldn't be stoked if someone was able to port it to ARMv6, because I would, but at this point, I don't really see it as a "feature" of Froyo.
Kaos and I are trying to port it. We have hit a roadblock for now, but we'll get it eventually.

Yes, it is. This has been confirmed for "Q3." If you Google, you'll see rumors pointing toward an October roll-out.

they have pretty much said there will be an official gingerbread for desire... HOWEVER, our phone unfortunately wont be on the top of the priority list, as you said, because its relatively "older" incomparison.. plus.. add to the delay the fact it has to filter down to our providers so they can make THIER changes, and then it will be officially released..
To OP: So in short... not anytime soon.. Try out CM7 Nightlies.. they are damn stable and you can really replicate most of sense with a custom launcher (LPPro has great replacements to most of the sense widgets)

Best myTouch 4g Rom

What's the best mytouch 4g rom right now? Ive tried all the obvious ones; iced, cyanogen, muiu, hd sense. Just wondered if there was something else out there, something better, or different. Getting a little bored with the obvious, like to test new things.
Any thoughts?

I digging it too. Had to switch the font, but otherwise, TB is hella responsive. We'll see how the battery life is after a full drain and recharge.
IMO Its all about preference. You gotta ask yourself if y like stock android or sense (among other overlays)
Personally. I havent experienced a rom smoother than Ice Glacier yet. I was surprised since CM7 was less than half the size but smoothness was way behind Ice. IMO Sense roms are more optimized for our chipsets since thats what HTC works on most so im Sense all the way
It really is all personal preference. Especially with a phone like this with so many options the differences in performance are going to be nominal. I personally love CM so that's what I am running. There are people that love sense and there are ROMs out there for that. A better thread for you would have been things you are looking for and we could suggest the best ROM suited for your needs.

Well as you know Sense based rom specially IG is not actually full rom as it just modified and comparing to current CM7(AOSP2.3.X:GB) its 1/3rd of the port size. But as IG heavily depends on Sense based framework it will be little smoother but you can make CM7 smooth also IDK what people talking about it lags as if I even run at 368mhz(max)/245(min)/ondemand (gov) I get NO lag.

Last I heard the CM updater for Rom Manager Premium wasnt updating for some reason but it could be fixed by now. That was yesterday. Unfortunatly I only have the free version and it only allows for DL of CM7 RC1 so i cant confirm if the other is working again.
Lol that's what he was talking about? How hard is it to grab the current build from CM repository, it takes just 1 sec. I have cURL.d setup on my server it grabs it automatically within 1min as I set the eCrawler auto updated every min.

+1 / with carlos2384 ... Jaywan's Nexus S is hands down my favorite ROM so far on this device. Jaywan - udaman! I'm pumped about v2.2 for Nexus S !!
...I did just flash the new Liquid Metal port (RoyalLiquid) and it's quiiiiiite interesting and unique....since it appears it's froyo based, I'm not sure it's gonna steal my heart long term from the Nexus S ROM but at least for now, it's REALLY nice to have options!! (especially when they're as cool as this)
Thanks again Jaywan, Royalknight6190, and TeamRoyal !
I am currently trying ThunderBolt. I like it. I came from Iced which was giving me all sorts of funny business.

definatly just spent like 15 minutes trying to figure out how to download the RUU from that chinese upload site... no dice... any direct link to DL you can PM me im interested i wanna see if i can get this running
still, we arent going to have data.
until we get cm ril - and maybe not even then - "ports" to the tbolt are going to be totally worthless.
thats why i havent been too concerned with the sense 3.0 ports. they are cool to play with, but no chance of being a daily driver for a while.

i much enjoyed the HD sense interface i had when owning the HD2 ... and the only reason i got a t-bolt is to have an NATIVE NAND running android.... i wondered why this sense was missing some stuff i wanna port HTC hub and some of the 2.1 tweaks...... the thunderbolts interface although faster than cmylxgo's desire hd port on hd. it didnt have as many features.....
since we are on 2.2.1 we need a new sense.... haha or until we get that RIL lib set from a new cm build.... thats pretty depressing
once again forgive me if i seem n00bish in this statement but theoretically couldn't we port the rosie and corresponding framework to our 2.2.1 devices?
obviously not from this dump as it is 2.3

right. why update when they already set the precedent of sticking with the same version till the phone goes EOL? more money for them,
"Oh you just got the brand new Thunderbolt with the CRAZY powerful new snapdragon and 4g? Cool. Running Sense 2.0 right? Nice. New phone coming out next week with the same specs but Sense 3.0. You gonna buy it?"
And since we will never be updated, of course people will go out and buy it. Its the same as the carriers and Google not updating Android versions on older phones, only HTC is even more dickish about it.

(PLEASE DON'T STRAY OFF SENSE 4.0)
I'm felling what you want. I also want a Sense 4.0 rom for the 4G, but I don't think there'll ever be one. If there is, I'll be sure to tell you about it. Hope this helps!
As long as people are still making EVO 4G roms, they'l end up making it lol.
I would imagine the system partition is HUGE!

I wasnt talking about FULL sense 4.0 lol.. i was just talking about user interface tweaks to make it LOOK like sense 4.0. i dont think the evo has the hardware strength to pull of sense 4.0 smoothly

HTC one V has sense 4 with 1ghz single core processor and 512mb of RAM so we should have no problem

Im fairly confidant that we'll see sense 4.0 running on our OG Evo's. With the Firerat mod and darktremors apps2sd freeing up ram and internal storage, I think its possible. As I understand it, HTC scaled back the sense UI from 3.5 because it was laggy, and if we were able to rock 3.5 on our Evo's, I don't see why not. At least i hope so, anyway. We've got some pretty awesome devs around here.

Odds are anything useful GUI-wise will get ported to 3rd party ICS ROMs. Many basic features of leaked Sense4 snapshots are already there just not quite as slick. I.e. lockscreen widgets.
And remember, ICS runs much quicker than Gingerbread to start with. Only issue with an unlocked Sense4.0 ROM would be running out of space on the device.
Just a heads up

Seems that the folks over in the incredible forum have been busy... Might be something to track, if they get theirs running, wouldn't be too difficult to port it over to evo...

Generally 2-6 months after any pre-orders.
And idk why someone has to go full blown. Just take the notification bar and make it transparent, change the sense clock, and copy the launcher.

I'm pretty sure that's Sense 3.6. Sense 4.0 is too robust for such a low-end device. Of course, to me, there's no difference anyway.
Current ROM (BootManager Slot 4): MikRunny v1.0 - Kernel: AnthraX-2.6.38.8-TEST

I'm positive its sense 4.0 its just a stripped down version called sense 4a

im sure the devs would have already have a alpha or beta rom, but unfortunately, there is no kernel to boot ics sense 3.6 or sense 4.
if a kernel was able to boot it then we would have a ics sense.

Interesting. Thanks for the info, Mr. Noob . I extracted and looked at the Primo ROM, but the build.prop didn't specify the Sense version.

According to HTC, the One V has Sense 4. Seems to me that Sense 3.6 is reserved for older phones getting the ICS update.
Digging through the Primo ROM myself, out of boredom
