Feature Missing? - Droid X General

Good day all...Came from Incredible (miss it ALOT) but life goes on. Im on liberty GB 0.4 paid why not. On to the issue at hand; In CM7 there is a feature of long press BACK kills app. Any chance anyones seen something like this for the X?

Not that I have ever seen. We could possibly see it when cm4dx gets released.
Sent from my DROIDX

I have actually had that work for certain apps but not all of them or consistently.

I'll believe it when I see it (released)...until then, I'm not holding by breath for CM on my DX.

What I meant by that is that I have seen the feature. Cm7 is far from working on the dx

I agree. However, cvcps did tweet that he was resuming work on cm4dx. We can hope

Yeah it really depends on the app, some apps automatically exit while others that are set to be persistent do not (for good reason). You might want to check under your app settings to see if they have an option to disable persistence.

I think the camera won't work with it, but I'd like to play with it. Let us have it, Koush! You're the man!
This is what I have been waiting for! Now only if there was an easier root process!

It's Koush man, he's almost as good as Cyanogen. There will be some kind of build for us to use within the next week. I HIGHLY doubt everything will be working, but we'll have something to play with at least!

That's what all the Droid owners (myself included) thought until we got Froyo on our phones. Turned out that flash wasn't all that great on a phone even when it works. Sure you can watch South Park, but it isn't like it makes much of a difference to your everyday use of the phone.

It's definitely a step in teh right direction, but it can't get data (over SIM) and no phone calls yet.
Definitely not yet a RC (even if it is labeled as such internally).
TheDude seems to be making quite a bit of progress though (or at least publishes it unlike Wes).
On the other hand, if you look at the Git, you'll see a lot of stuff getting updated/added by Wes.
I dunno what to think :-/
God I want this. I had CM6 running my Hero and I would love it to have it on my Vibrant. I like that it has the wifi and gps controls in in the pull down menu like the Samsung ROM. That is the best thing about the stock ROM.

Gingerbread 2.3

Figured id start a thread about it and people can chime in on what they know and what they want to know. Id like for someone to provide a link to what the up coming features are going to be and when its going to be released. I heard that its going to come out on monday the 6th and some of the features might include some more lime green and a market with music that can be purchased and also some sort of supported video chat. Any truth to this would be cool but I can't confirm anything. I know verizon usually comes out with some kind of sheet to tell users what will be included and I haven't found it yet so if anyone has information that'd be nice to share with the people here on xda.

I highly doubt it will be out tomorrow. And even if it is out tomorrow, it will be on the Nexus one. You should know by now all the updates come out to the Nexus phones first. Obviously it might not be too long after that for us to get it but we've gotta wait for Google's star child first.

yeah plus MOTO will want to make some crappy build with "ninja blur" which will take forever since they only care about the droid x so we'll have to wait a while unless you're rooted. Ports of stock 2.3 should probably be out sometime in the few weeks after it is released for el nexus uno
Not sure about sources and such but:
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1930297/tablet-designer-claims-android-23-release
They announced its release this morning along with the Nexus S

So I'm going to make a guess that getting Gingerbread onto the Droid2 is going to require a new kernel? In and of itself, Gingerbread uses a newer kernel than Froyo, and it seems like there are some significant improvements under the hood that may require kernel support. I suppose this could be verified by comparing the source code between the two releases.
So, barring someone hacking eFuse, I would guess that we aren't going to see Froyo until Motorola decides to release it. Hopefully I'm wrong here...

Not to be a douche but yea it is.
I really don't think it'll take too long for Gingerbread to come out. We've been running 2.2 for a while now. Other phones don't even have Froyo yet. I know they probably have to make it Blur compatible, but I really don't think it'll take too long to get.
If you are rooted you can install the keyboard. http://www.droid-life.com/2010/12/06/download-gingerbread-keyboard-for-rooted-devices/

This is Motorola we are talking about. It took them months to release 2.2 for the original DROID and that runs stock Android, they barely had to do any work to get it working.

I doubt they'll even bother setting up 2.3 for the Droid 2. I'll just keep my ear to the ground here in hopes of seeing it pop up in a ROM; maybe Matt will display his absolute mod-godhood and port it into Unleashed 4.0!

Problem is that the new update adds support to things not changable withouth unlocking the bootloader so we are kind of screwed unless something has changed. Or Motorola actually does something worth while.

Lol. The OG Droid was updated all the way to Froyo. I'm pretty sure that the Droid2 will be updated.
It would be interesting if the OG Droid eventually gets updated past the Droid2 (by third parties, obviously).

Yeah motoblur up until that sucks. This actually looks decent and seems quick.
I still have a Droid X my kids use for watching videos and playing games and I had to do a bunch of stuff to get gingerbread on it. Once done, Gingerbread is a well polished machine by comparison to previous versions. It adds the LITTLE THINGS that iPhone users tend to enjoy. I liked it and give it a big thumbs up.

I didnt post what you quoted so I cant speak for him but I will elaborate, slightly. I have gingerbread CM7 on the Captivate and there are several things I like about it.
First and formost, and this is petty, the screen does the "crt monitor" screen on/off effect animation thingy. Its superficial, but awesome. There are several other interface changes that are an improvement imo.
Secondly, native wifi internet calling via SIP. It still takes some setting up and know how but you only have to read to learn.
Of course there are "speed" improvement like always.
Theres a Download (manager) app.
Finally, security. You probably read about that already.

Verizon Finally Starts Field Testing Gingerbread for the Samsung Fascinate, Build EH0

It's official Verizon has started testing a Gingerbread build (2.3.5), though I want to know why the battery meter is the same as now, and it's not the green standing up battery meter that we are familiar with on the other Galaxy S phones.
I can't post the link but the news is on droid-life and phandroid

Is a Build.prop.edit a bad thing? If that's the case I think I'm just going to go ahead and root and see if I can use EI20. The problem is once I put EI20 on my phone, I won't be able to update anymore right? It will be nice to have my phone Bingless though.

Quadrant is a bit bunk I agree with that, but I noticed that on Galaxy S phones running 2.3.4 and higher that the Quadrant scores have been reading anywhere from the low 1400s to the low 1700s. I just wanted to know what they changed in Gingerbread that made the phones a bit more responsive.
That said bro, /beg would be nice to see some screenies.
I'm really wondering how EH03 matches up against EI20 on the generic sch-i500(Showcase) or how it matches up to EH09 on the Mesmerize.

This sounds like a bit of fail on Verizon's end.
Too bad none of the leaks are stable...nothing but problems with force closings, random loud static while on calls and other various problems. I think Verizon is actually swapping them for totally different devices if you call and complain...

From what I heard, the leak is pretty good, everyone says the phone has really sped up with this Gingerbread build, not only that, but for once when you hit the search button it goes directly to Google search, no more Bing crap. That said, Bing is still on the phone, but much less prevalent.
