Frosty-Boot
Preview Video <all versions>
Frosty-boot is a replacement mod for the stock ANDROID loading logo animation with a touch of Honeycomb colors and flavor.
Android with some HC flare
Animated loading bar at the top
Animated fog
Animated text (Frosty-Boot v2: Full only)
You'll need to unpack the bootanimation.zip from the archive you select below. If you don't have an ACER Iconia, but still want to try this out, you can at least use the Frosty-Boot: Clean version; it has no tags, no text and should work on any cousins of the a500 running HC @1280x800: eg Eee Pad etc. Use at your own risk, however.
Frosty-Boot: Clean
Starting at the cleanest with no tags and smallest size @7.1mb :
>Preview a single Frosty-Boot: Clean frame here<
>Download the Frosty-Boot: Clean boot animation here<
Frosty-Boot v1: Acer >Video< by t-dkp
This is the original Frosty-Boot with the Acer Iconia tag and assorted manufacturers and connection types @7.8mb.
>Preview a single Frosty-Boot v1: Acer frame here<
>Download the Frosty-Boot: Acer boot animation here<
Frosty-Boot v2: Full >Video< by dweebken
And finally the full version with all the tags and animated text @9.4mb:
>Preview a single Frosty-Boot v2: Full frame here<
>Download the Frosty-Boot v2: Full boot animation here<

Cool
Any issues? Hows the playback? I know it stutters about halfway, I figure the throughput bottlenecks a little while the tab is booting so the playback suffers but I'd like to get some idea of how it plays for others.
For anyone wondering... the animation is the frosty fog in the background rising and undulating. Part1 is a clean background with the droid centered. I might play around with that though.

Yes very nice boot animation. It does stutter a little but still very nice.

Thanks nazforex

how to instal it ? Thanks

If you have rooted your tablet, put bootanimation.zip into your /data/local folder - if you don't have root, you have to push it via adb from the Android SDK. There's lots of info around on how to set that up.

Updated OP with a link to a wallpaper to match.
EDIT***
I removed the wallpaper for the time being.

great i use !

I've updated the OP with a link to v1.2 bootanimation if anyone is interested.

Very nice!

Thanks Tahde
Which version are you using, if you dont mind me ask?

i use the new animation
it ise very amazing
for adb : adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local

I used the Acer version. Very sexy, thank you.

Please post further in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069696

Renaming anything is not part of the process. The bootanimation.zip file is inside the archive you downloaded. Reread the OP.
Edit...
Well i guess there isn't really anything more to 'reread' - its really just a matter of extracting the bootanimation.zip file from whatever version you downloaded.
Hope you get it working - post back if you have any other issues. Which one are you using btw?

GDD Ultimate Theme Mod

Hello everyone,
I have used the GreenDevDroid theme as the base due to its animations (Thanks to giveme13s) and did a quickfix of the aspects that I felt to be not too appealing.
Changes:
1. Changed the green notification bar to black and did a few minor modifications to the notification area
2. Changed boot animation from the flipping coin to 'Android Particles 1'
3. Changed system font to Comfortaa
4. Replaced the battery indicator with circular battery (Version I)
Screenshots: Attached (Blanked out a few areas )
Instructions:
1. Copy zip file to sdcard
2. Boot into recovery
3. Make a NAND backup
4. Flash zip file (it is signed)
Download:
multiupload.com/IOMI1GQSNS
Notes:
I am using a modified void #delta rom but I presume that the theme would work with other roms. In case you only want the circular battery, you may use the framework-res.apk from this theme or just pick-up the relevant png files within it.
will try it now on lol rom..feedback later..
edit:
its working on lol rom..i love the boot animation and the effects
tnx mate!
Thanks got you did it!!!Iwas trying all night to do it without result. Thank you!
Doesnt work for me on stock rom. Errors appeared - cannot run LG home, cannot run market and so on. Had to do nandroid restore. Anyway thanks for your effort!
Exactly what was in my mind Thanks a ton
Works well on VOID ECHO.
Best theme i've seen so far, it's just what i wanted, black & green. And works great to.
I wish you could make another zip, exactly the same theme, but with the original font inside, the font you used is a little unreadable when it's small.
Try one of the fonts here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801160
I am using UBUNTU 10.10. Seems a little better. You just need to flash it from recovery.
And also, I thought the animations were too much of a distraction. Returned to standard animation.
Now it is just perfect.
Thank you so much guys.

I wonder why I hadn't seen that thread before, may be because I haven't spent too much time over here Anyway since I had already made zip files for the original font as well as for comfortaa, I have attached them to the first post.
Excellent Work.Thank you guys!!!
Thanks for this theme. There is no match for the original fonts(Personal opinion). Love the battery/bootimage.
thanks for the theme.. gosh there are tons of theme compatible with void.echo.
good job!
now i am just curious about window animations. is there an animation like the flip page in windows phone 7?
i think its cool to have that one too.
and i also have used some window animations in Ubuntu, like the beam-me-up-scottie kinda animation... when the window was liked beamed up to starship enterprise... you know those animations?
its also kewl to have that...
thanks and more power!
This is currently the best theme i get for my void.
Overall it is just so awesome.
Thumbs Up for the effort.
I am on void # echo, I am continously getting sdcard mount/unmount problem. By the way I am having a class 4 sdcard and it never had this issues.
i am reinstaling fresh void#echo and will update here, if it happens again.
Good work man, I love you theme.
nice theme dude
love it
i tried your framework-res.apk because i only wanted the circular battery, but it seems that the file had more modifications that that. Anyway, love the change, but it seems that mi clock en the top bar cant be seen cause thar bar is now black as the clock font.
How can i solve this?
Thnks man!!
Nice themes.. thank you.

[Metamorph] Various window animations

Disclaimer:
I am not responsible for anything bad happened to your phone after you install this window animation mod
Install this mod at your own risk!!!
Don't forget to nand backup your phone before installing this mod.
Got bored of same window animation?
Here are some window animations I gathered from various sources on Internet, made them to work with metamorph so one can change window animation easily.
Instructions:
Download and install Metamorph
Download attached zip file, save to sdcard in directory '/sdcard/AndroidThemes'
Run Metamorph and select "Unzip/Extract new theme", you need to allow superuser permission
Select a zip file
After metamorph finished extracting theme, close the prompt and hit Apply all. The phone will reboot
Note:
Your phone may reboot several times
If your phone doesn't reboot, take battery out, put it back, and power on
To revert back to original window animation, get zip file on post #7
Does this work on rooted, non-deodexed, stock rom
I guess it will work.
But to be safe, nand backup first please.
u shud also include the "stock animation" u know wat i mean the default animation in case someone wants to fall back
also, can these animation be extracted and merged with framework_res?

Do you know what the phone signal icons are that the stock Optimus V uses in the notification bar? I look in framework-res and the stat-sys-signal-#'s there are all 4-bar icons, yet the icons that my phone uses are 6-bar.

hhhmm no blur? i always see these samples, but still no blur....
-----------------
ok i finally merged the blur animation to my Nessy Fenice framework-res...
and this one looks better for minimalists like me.
not too fancy animations, tho i find it majority of the window animations on BLUR is just zoom in and out.
the only blur animation i can see is the MENU sliding up with blur effect and a little bounce after that.. cute.
tho after that, its all zoom in and out. hhmmm.. i hope other transitions also have those blur effect.
Any vids for the OTHER animations? Mabe a link to the mod's source?

How To: Custom Boot Sound / Animation with GINGERTH3ORY

After days of unsuccessful searching of the forums and also Google and multiple flashes between stock Rom and Th3ory's I have figured out how to add sound to his boot animation or your own custom boot animation in his rom.
NANDROID BACKUP FIRST!! YOU WILL BE EDITING A SYSTEM FILE USED DURING BOOT
1. copy default.xml from /system/customize/CID to /sdcard using Root Explorer or another app.
2. open VZW_bootanimation.zip to see what the name of the folder with your boot png's in it is named. Write that down. If using the boot animation that comes with GINGERTH3ORY the folder will be "part0"
3. open default.xml from your sdcard using a web editor. I use Android Web Editor Lite.
4. on line 120 will be the info for where the phone looks for the boot animation and boot audio. notice that boot animation is VZW_bootanimation.zip and audio is Verizon_Thunderbolt_3sec.mp3
5. on line 120 change audiostart="VZW" to audiostart="part0" or whatever the name of the folder is with your boot animation png's in it
6. save the xml and exit your editor
7. change the name of the original default.xml to default.xml.old
8. using Root Explorer paste the edited default.xml from /sdcard into /system/customize/CID
9. now paste whatever mp3 you want to play at boot into the /system/customize/resource folder and rename it to Verizon_Thunderbolt_3sec.mp3
10. reboot and finally enjoy the audio
If using a custom boot animation simply rename it to VZW_bootanimation.zip and paste it into the /system/customize/resource folder.
Hope this helps those that were having issues!
Kudos man. I can't test tonight, but will test it in the morning.
EDIT: Worked perfectly on Th3ory's v4.5.1 Great work!
Sent from my rooted Bolt
Currently making a backup and then I'm going to try this... hope this works for me. Haha.
EDIT: Works great. Thanks so much. I missed my phone coming to life.

Thanks for the thanks everyone.
I don't have the stock animation any more. I inverted the colors on th3ory's stock animation and added the first dozen or so png's (the one's that fade in to "Th3ory" and then fade out, not the eye ones) to the beginning of the white boot ani from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024038
mp3 of "Bodies" by Drowning Pool plays while those zombie's get shot up and hit the floor.
Hi stoudtlr, I'm trying to do a custom boot animation. I zipped the files and named it VZW_bootanimation.zip but all I get is an empty screen after the white htc screen. Any ideas?
I'm on gingerth3ory and I took the boot animation zip from there and put in my own icons with the same file names and format, but nada.

When you zip the files make sure that compression is set to "store". That's the first thing that comes to mind if you are sure you don't have a typo in the name and you have them in the right location.

[TUT] BOOT ANIMATION explained

Dear friends at XDA,
I am a graphic designer. Have Desire + Pico... I made a little tutorial/explanation about boot animations and I moved my NEW animation on 2nd post.
****
Well... There is a file called bootanimation.zip stored in the root file system, something like this:
/system/media/ or /data/local or /system/customize/resource/ (for HTC Sense) or somewhere else (use Root Explorer to search for it!)
This file contains two things:
1. A description file (desc.txt) that outlines how the animation progresses, what images to use, image size etc…
2. Folder(s) that contain the images for the animation
The basic structure of the bootanimation.zip file is as follows:
bootanimation.zip
- desc.txt
- part0
- part1
part0 and part1 are directories that contain a series of images for example:
part0
- boot_001.png
- boot_002.png
- boot_003.png
- boot_004.png
- boot_005.png
and:
part1
- boot_006.png
- boot_007.png
- boot_008.png
- boot_009.png
- boot_010.png
- boot_011.png
- boot_012.png
- boot_013.png
- boot_014.png
- boot_015.png
- boot_016.png
- boot_017.png
- boot_018.png
- boot_019.png
- boot_020.png
These images form the “part0” and “part1” animations that are combined as outlined in the “desc.txt” file to form the overall startup animation. The images are ordered by number and run in sequence.
The “desc.txt” file outlines how the animation progresses and a sample is as follows:
480 800 20
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
where:
“480” is the width of the animation
“800” is the height of the animation
“20” is the desired fps of the animation
“p” defines a first animation part
“1” how many times this animation part loops (in this case - once)
“0” defines a pause after this part is played (max 10, “0” is for no pause at all)
“part0” is the folder name where the animation images are for the first animation part
“p” defines a second animation part
“0” defines that it loops forever (until android starts)
“0” defines a pause
“part1” is the folder for the second animation part.
IMAGES TYPE
As far as images type… well… for the best experience (IMHO) you should use PNG files, RGB color profile, 24 bit (TRUE color), 96 dpi (not really important, could be 150, 200 or even 300… PIXELS defines size actually) and with NO transparency or interlacing.
About interlacing... IMPORTANT thing:
PNG files must be WITHOUT interlace. Interlaced PNG save several resolution built into the file, and it is mainly used for web viewing on slower connection - loading lower resolution first, than a higher one, than the highest one. This mean that ENTIRE picture is shown very quickly in lower resolution and the quality improve as the data is read. It is very similar to making JPG images progressive. Same reason. Interlacing make believe loading process faster, but it is JUST an impression. But, the file is MUCH bigger and that process is NOT needed for our android. So DO NOT use interlacing!
PACKING THE FILE
When you prepared all, use 7zip to compress and zip the files:
1. Archive format: ZIP
2. Compression level: STORE
Rename zipped file to bootanimation.zip (or else - phone specific...) and that’s about it!
WELL...
I must add one IMPORTANT thing... HOW TO PUT IT IN YOUR PHONE!
First of all... Your phone MUST be rooted (should I even tell that?) and you must have some file browser with full root capabilities... ROOT EXPLORER will do the magic
Find bootanimation.zip in /system/media/ or /data/local or /system/customize/resource/ (for HTC Sense) or somewhere else... and ERASE IT (or MOVE somewhere else to save as a backup - rename it to original.zip etc...)
Than... Find your file and copy/paste it in bootanimation folder. One thing left to do... Use ROOT EXPLORER to change PERMISSIONS of the file as follows:
------------ read / write / execute
Owner: ----- x ----- x ----- 0
Group: ------ x ----- 0 ----- 0
Others: ----- x ----- 0 ----- 0
Exit Root explorer, reboot and enjoy...
FINAL WORD
YES, I KNOW that overall packed file can be big, sure bigger than with JPG-s, but loading of PNG files is smoother and faster, with BETTER QUALITY than with JPG files... In my case I used JPG files cause I am on MIUI (lack of system storage space - CM7 hboot)
THANK YOU...
[BOOTANIMATION] Black metal holes background
Dear Friends,
Here is my NEW Black metal holes background boot animation with appropriate splash screen. I added FADE IN effect infront...
Hope you will like them. Tell me what you think...
Now added different colors: cyan, green, magenta and red.
About matching downanimation.. .well.. I am on MIUI... there is NO down animation there, so I will try eventually some Sense ROM and do it than... Maybe it would take some time, cause I am tired of changing ROM's for now and I, hmm... REALLY love MIUI!
Anyway, SUGGESTIONS and thanks are EXTREMELY appreciated

Can i give some hints? A fade in effect at the start of the bootanimation can help with the black screen between splash and bootanimation!
Also more colors are welcome i see orange for MIUI, cyan for CM, green for aosp GB and blue for ICS (i love this blue )!
Thank you very much for this cool bootanimation
Really nice images! Look forward to more
BTW, will be in Montengro near the end of June for vacation. Beautiful country.
EDIT: don't touch /system/media/bootanimation.zip.
just put bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip into /data/local...

[BOOT ANIMATION] CyanogenMod 9

Hi guys I extracted the CyanogenMod boot animation from the ROM itself, and my oh my it looks wonderful! I attached it below. To install, simply after downloading it and placing it in a comfortable location, copy it, go to system>media, and paste it there It should overwrite your current boot animation and replace it but if it does not, simply just paste the CM9 boot animation there and delete the old one I tested it only on my Samsung Galaxy S2. Works perfect. Enjoy! And remember this is made by the CM9 team not me, so give them the credit. I'm only sharing their awesome boot animation to the community and not stealing their work
Edit: OH YES I recommend that you guys use Root Explorer to copy and paste the boot animation! Cause that what I used But if you have any other alternatives that you think might be better or you are more comfortable with, please share it or use it at your own risk

Hi!
I changed the boot animation of my Galaxy S i9000 using the app "Boot Animations * root" from the Play Store.
I took a very cool one but its getting really nasty after a while and I want to rechange it to the default animation but don't know how . Already tried what you wrote: place the .zip in the media folder and I deinstalled the app because I didn't know where to find the boot animations. Then I restardet my phone but it still didn't change the boot animation.
sry for using the word 'boot animation' that often
Hope you can help me

I took a very cool one but its getting really nasty after a while and I want to rechange it to the default animation but don't know how . Already tried what you wrote: place the .zip in the media folder and I deinstalled the app because I didn't know where to find the boot animations. Then I restardet my phone but it still didn't change the boot animation.
sry for using the word 'boot animation' that often
Hope you can help me

Try looking in /data/local
If there's a bootanimation.zip in there it'll override the one in /system/media (which is kinda useful for keeping animations across upgrades when no data wipe is involved.)
