I couldn't install Armon's Ra Recovery or any recovery, so I downloaded ROM Manager, and then choosed the option Flash Clockwork Recovery, but now everytime I want to go to recovery it just stays in the MyTouch 3g logo.
sorry for my bad english. My regards
Solved. It was my error. When ROM Manager ask you for the model of phone, you have to choose MyTouch3g
I have the same setup but no Recovery :-(
I have the same fast boot info:

I start ROM Manager and flash Clockworkmod Recovery, select ION/MyTouch and after a while it reads that it successfully flashed the Recovery, but after I try and boot into Recovery it stays in the green MyTouch logo and nothing happens, if I have it plugged in the USB I get a FastBoot USB legend on the top left corner and nothing more. Should I wait a while before rebooting it again? how much time did you wait after flashing Clockworkmod Recovery for it to boot in to that recovery and not the standard Recovery?

Boot normal and reflash. Then manually boot into the recovery by holding the home button while turning the phone on.

I will try flashing and boot into rocovery manually...
OK Right now if I boot in to recovery it goes in to the Android Recovery, I will boot normally and flash ClockworkMod Recovery again, after that I will power off the phone and boot in to recovery by holding the Home and Power Buttons. How much time should it take to boot in to recovery? For the normal recovery it takes about 10 Seconds, how much should I wait for the Clockworkmod Recovery? Just want to make sure I don't give up to soon.
Also any idea why the FastBoot USB appeard while plugged in to the computer?
Thanks.

Hello everyone. This is my first post and hope it goes well.
I recently purchased my mytouch 4g off the street and the guy said it was rooted and gave me a brief of what rooting was. I am a complete noob when it comes to anything about rooting and didn't want issues with warranty not being honored, so I didn't want my mytouch rooted. I thought I could just do a hard reset on the phone and I found out I made a big mistake. After the hard reset all the phone does now is turn on but gets stuck on the tmobile mytouch 4g start up screen and doesn't go anywhere else. I tried doing some research but no luck and I landed here to see if someone can help. After a bit of reading I can tell you a little about the phone and what I see. I can go to the bootloader by pressing the volume down and power button. It shows the following:
GLACIER PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.86.0000
MICROP-0429
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M

HBOOT
<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
That's what comes up when I press the volume down and power button. I can go into recovery and when I do it shows ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.0.1 and a few options:
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
install zip from sdcard
backup and restore
mounts and storage
advanced
I didn't try messing with anything because like I said I am a complete noob at this. Please if anyone can help it will be well appreciated. I just paid a lot of money for this phone and I don't want it to go to waste. Thanks and god bless.
Under recovery, go to backup and restore and if there is an option to restore click the latest one by date and once restored reboot and you should be good to go. You would then have to unroot if you font want phone rooted. I hope this helps.

You can also mount the SD card from recovery, copy over the ROM of your choice (CM7 is great), don't forget gapps addon, then flash from CWR and reboot. Sounds like your phone is perfectly fine, you just wiped the ROM.
I know how to mount the sd card from recovery but no clue on how to copy over the rom and flash from cwr.

T-mobile MyTouch 3G Android 2.2.1
==========================
I'm trying to reboot into recover by it just restarts and stops at the screen with the exclamation and phone image!
I've used SuperOneClick v1.7 to root it with success!
Pre Froyo I've been able to reboot into recovery and use CyanogenMod with ease but since the update I can't.
Did you install a new recovery after doing the update? If you you need to download ROM Manager from the market and use it to flash a new recovery.

I have ROM Manager but when I download the ROM that's what happens (above results)!
You need to flash Clockworkmod Recovery from ROM Manager before trying to select the "flash ROM" option.
I flashed it already to ClockworkMod 2.5.0.7 before posting to the forums with no luck, I even tried the RA Recovery option!
When I try to flash with another ClockworkMod version it says: "An error occurred while flashing your recovery".
Flash the recovery again from ROM Manager, either one, and then immediately after hitting the "OK" button, turn the phone off and try booting into recovery. Sometime you may have to flash the custom recovery several times from ROM Manager before it sticks.
What is the procedure to reboot into recovery mode? (Want to see if I'm doing it correctly)
If your getting the triangle with the ! then your doing it right. Either way, with the phone off hold home+power.

So what can I do from here?
What is the fix?
Thanks!
The only thing I can think to do is either use the goldcard method to flash an engineering SPL and then manually install the recovery...or, you can downgrade to 1.6, re-root, and try re-installing the cutom recovery, then upgrade back to the 1.33.0013/2.22.28.25 SPL/radio. Either way it's going to be a pretty long process with the second being the easier of the two.
Is this a known problem with the MyTouch 3G with the Froyo update?
I've helped 2 or 3 people that ran into the same issue.
Well thank you for you assistance!

What I have done until now is to root the phone with FlashRec and Amon Ra's recovery image (recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2H.img).
After that I tryed to load Fatal1ty_Hero-Full_v1.4-signed.zip ROM from the recovery mode (home+power). Everything went fine with the instalation but after device is rebooted it stuck on the "HTC Magic" splash screen. What can cause the this?
My Tmobile mytouch3g is rooted and has a custom rom running. I want to reset it to factory reset and give the phone to someone else. Unfortunately the phone was rooted by my brother about a year ago and he doesn't remember the method used or how to reset. I don't mind flashing a brand new rom on it either. Just need some basic guidance please.
when I turn on the phone by holding the volume and power button this is the info I see... Help please

Thank you,
Shan
Easy...
You need check custom recovery. Turn off, then turn on by pressing Home + Power
If you will see something like Amon Ra recovery vX.X or ClockworkMod Recovery - you have custom recovery and can use it to flash custom ROMs
If you will see triangle with '!' - it's stock recovery
But as you have s-off engineering hboot, you simply flash custom recovery through fastboot.exe utility
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (i advice version AmonRa 1.7.0 G )
p.s. Make sure your phone is correct connected to PC
Thank you let me try it... I'll post the update. Thank you very much for the advice. Appreciate that!

OMG... Why RA-Dream-v1.2.3 ???
I adviced RA Sapphire 1.7.0 G !!!
p.s. In custom recovery choose "flash zip from sdcard" and flash custom ROM for [32B]. But do "wipe data/factory reset" first
