Is there any possible way for the QPST software to detect my droid? I need to flash it to cricket.
I downloaded latest drivers and some other software's from Verizon and still it wont detect it.
it Will show under ports COM3 but it shows as unknown usb (NO PHONE)
The DX needs to be in PC Mode and USB debugging needs to be on. Second, you need the Motorola drivers off their web site. I suggest clicking on the link with MotoHelper, it takes all the guess work out of drivers for Motorola devices and updates the DX drivers to run up to date. http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-...tware_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
This should do the trick. Also, use a com 10 or higher.

Try installing this first Click Here The single port version is free!
Click the Login button. The password should automatically be filled in and click OK.
Go to the Settings tab and make sure that NVT Enabled is unchecked and go back to the Virtual Serial Port tab.
To be safe, pick a COM port above 8
Make sure the IP Address field reads 192.168.16.2 and the Port field reads 11008
Click the Create COM button and after a few moments you should now have successfully created a COM port for your Droid X.

Hello can you upload the qpst so I can download it? Or share me the link. I have one that isn't compatible with droid x. I was using QPST 2.7 Build 231
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211157
This also works on the Dx2. But worked on 5.2 drivers and broke on 5.3.

Hello everyone, I'm happy to say that I'm hosting a 'market' specifically for Sprint Hero root users. If anyone is interested in this, you can install it on your phone in a few steps.
First, download the market program and install it on your phone. It's at http://app2.bikcmp.com:4121/dl/Aptoide.apk
Once you install it, launch it and press no to add their default repository. Then, press menu>Manage repo>menu>New repository. The url to the repository should be EXACTLY:
http://app2.bikcmp.com:4121/repo/files/
After that, go back and you should be able to see the applications. If you're a developer and have a application you'd like to add, or have a question, feel free to email me: [email protected].
Yes, I know there aren't many applications in it right now.

http://app2.bikcmp.com/repo/files/ has a directory listing of the apk's, and you can download them from there too.

I have a LG GT540 phone that had Android 1.6 on it.
I tried to upgrade it to Android 2.1 with the official program (I downloaded from the official web page) but it failed. :/
It started the upgrade but on 4% it stopped and now I can't use my phone. When I turned it on it has a blue background and it says Emergency mode.
Can someone please help me getting this phone fixed?

Right... here we go...
Open the kdz folder and open the instructions text file. Then follow them
Open the KDZ updater (right click, run as administrator if in Windows 7)
Open windows enabler (right click, run as administrator if in Windows 7) & click on its icon in the taskbar (bottom right)
Click on all the disabled boxes in kdz updater. And select 3Q whatever in one box and EMERGENCY in the other
Click open and select the kdz
Click start updating
Wait until it says update finished and your phone should boot 2.1
Good luck!

Are you plugging the phone into a USB drive in the BACK of your computer (USB 2.0), as this may solve the problem.
Have you also installed the correct drivers?
Try this: Driver set 1
And how to use them Instructions

And some help from another topic here
Well, after browsing around the general and q + a sections a lot, I noticed that there are quite a few threads about the Wireless Tether App not working on CM7 and other AOSP roms. I was confused about that, because the Wireless Tether app has always worked for me on CM7 and any other AOSP roms. Some people prefer the native tethering feature, but I prefer wireless tether because it allows 4g tethering, and various other reasons (acess control, it shows who's connected and lets me control that. Shows the download and upload totals, allows me to adjust transmit power, etc etc). Well, teh roxxorz and I began trying to figure out why it was working on my phone, and not anyone elses. I discovered that wireless tether started working for me on CM7 and AOSP right after I had used vaelpak's rom, which required a custom version of wireless tether. I also discovered that I had a folder on my sd card, called android.tether, which contained a binary file in it. Teh roxxorz discovered that he did not have that folder on his sd card. So just to test it out, I gave him the .bin file, and he created an android.tether folder on his sd card, and put the .bin file in it. He then uninstalled the wireless tether he had installed on his phone (we had been testing), and rebooted. He then installed vaelpak's custom version of wireless tether, and low and behold it started working. So I think I got that folder and .bin file from using the vaelpak version, but I'm not sure. Either way, I'll load up the vaelpak version of wireless tether, and the .bin file, and also teh roxxorz's instrucitons on what he did exactly. Hopefully it will work for any of you who are interested in getting wireless tether to work instead of the native app.
Also, you shouldn't need the custom vaelpak version of wireless tether, as it works fine for me with the version from the market. I think it's the .bin file on the sd card that's more important.
Just Download the BINfile.zip file that is attatched below and extract the actual .bin file out of it. That is the binary file you need to use.
teh roxxorz's instructions:
1. Created android.tether folder on root of sdcard [case sensitive]
2. Placed the binary file inside android.tether folder
3. Uninstall current app of wireless tether
4. Rebooted phone [since it messes up your wifi when it doesn't work]
5. Install the vaelpak modified tether you gave me
6. Open and run app; no problems, started successfully
Very nice write up k2buckley. I couldn't have said it any better. And as you do, I hope this works for many others.
NOTE! > If you're having trouble renaming the .bin file from the OP, on the second page of this thread I uploaded a zip file where you just need to extract the .bin file, and place inside the android.tether folder.
See page 16, post #159 for how to set up a proxy server if you have snail-like 4G speeds while tethering.
