I'm low on internal space and the dialer storage is at 15mb up from 10mb a few weeks ago. What's the best course of action? Should I do backup and full data/cache wipe, and partition the SD? Or is there a way to clear the dialer cashe?

Go to your settings/applications then go down to dialer storage and clear it. If there is anything you need, then backup data before you clear it.
Did you try clearing your call log?
Sent from my cm7 Aria.
Cleared the call log but its still the same.
And I can't stop the dial storage to clear the data. Its greyed out. I have tried to force close dialer storage and it does nothing or reboots....

did a quick google search and found out that all your sms and mms are stored in dialer storage. You need to delete some texts

Is there a simple way to replace the stock Mms.APK with AOSP Mms.APK... Thanks in advance.
You try installing the apk?
sent from my HTC Intruder
I would install handcent which you can make to look like the stock messaging app with the dark theme plus you gain additional alert settings and vcard functionality not available in stock.

as an fyi from personal experience, even when you use a different mms app, don't delete the original mms.apk or messaging.apk from your phone, because it won't be able to receive messages anymore. i know cause i tried it!

Not true. I have deleted the stock mms from fr008 and handcent works just fine with the usual bug that it ignores system settings for vibrate on notify.

Are you booted into clockwork recovery? And if so make sure you have /system mounted.

If you delete the stock mms app then you will not be able to send/receive mms with handcent. It doesn't have that capability, it only handles sms on its own at this time. But if you don't user mms then that's no problem.

yeah i did system mount and it said memory full, i then unmounted and adb push worked but didnt show up on the phone.... i did how ever have to pull the battery out to get it to reboot.
Not sure if I'm the only having this problem but every sms app I've tried including the default one is force closing. Am I the only having this problem?

Stock? What build? Try rebooting, if this doesn't solve the issue try uninstalling the messaging apps and clearing the data in the stock app

You tried to Force Stop then Clear data? If that fails, try uninstalling and reinstalling. Why can't you clear data?

are the SMS threads in your standard HTC client? I have this problem because i have installed Kaspersky mobile sec. 9 and have the setting hide sms threads. But i think, this is not your problem.
Hey all, so just recently my messaging app is really slow all of a sudden, like it takes 4 seconds to load the conversations, when I go to reply to a message, it takes 4 seconds to actually pull up the keyboard, and allow text input. I message a lot, so this is extremely annoying cuz I have to wait forever to send one stupid message >.< does anyone know what's wrong or how I could fix this?
Thanks!
Stock messaging app? I know I let my messages build up like without the auto delete on and eventually my messaging app just froze up until I clicked auto delete so it could be due to a lot of messages hope you get it figured it out and this helps a little !

Yeah stock app. But yeah I guess it's cuz of the messages, but idk I cant bring myself to do the auto delete thing, idk why but I can't >.< is there any other way to make it faster? Or is this it?

When the program loads it had to load all those messages into memory. You need to get rid of some. Just go back and delete some by hand.

Isee, so the only way to make it faster is by deleting messages? :/ what if I clear the cache? Shouldn't that make it faster, cuz then it won't load the older messages (cuz there's no need to)? And does clear data delete all the messages?

I honestly don't know because I let my messages get deleted every time I flash a ROM. I would assume clearing the data would delete the messages. If you absolutely MUST hang on to your messages, why not make a backup of them, then go through and delete some or all of the ones in the app? If you need them back, restore the backup.

Oh I see. Alright well I guess that's what I'll do, thanks for your help
Ever since I've my phone updated to the latest ROM, its been having this small issue with saying my text has not been sent. But when I click on it, my texts are clear of error. What is going on with that?
I'm not sure if this will work, but you could try it. Can you please clear the data and cache of the messaging app you use and reboot the device?

I just deleted all my texts. That surely helped.
Good to hear you solved your problem.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
But deleting all my texts isn't what I want to do all the time or not at all. I'd like to keep my texts for however long I like to.But I tried that method that you suggested and it didn't work. So now what? It didn't start this until it upgraded to the latest rom.
Backup and factory reset.

What am I backing up to and with and resetting to factory is going to put back at stock rom.
I found out what it was. Since upgrading to the new kit kat, it no longer supports sms messaging but it now uses google hangouts as it's alternative messaging source. So you'd have to go into settings and designate which is the default messenger. It can't be both which is why it shows that it hasn't been read. Go and clear it out of hangouts and designate which is the default messenger, which is hangouts. Hope this helps someone.
Thanks for updating us man. Take care.
