Anybody without a corp account try flashing this yet?
i flashed it today and I do NOT have the CorpEmail account. I really hope this doesn't stop me from getting root.

i have, no differences at all. battery life will tell in a day or two
So are we safe letting update go thru? Or should we hold off if we want root?
I wouldn't flash it yet. It contains a recovery image and I don't know if anyone knows for certain what's different about the image.
Would this have the correct test keys?
I flashed. Not noticing anything unexpected. Im getting my incredible replaced anyway. Sounds like I'm listening to people talk underwater.
I doubt you'd notice anything different; I'm just afraid that they've closed a useful hole.
Now if this thing would just stop asking me every 20-30 minutes ... grrrr.
The update fixes the email client for business users.
The meat of the update they don't tell you about, however, is there is a new recovery image in the updater. So yeah, maybe a hole was closed.
I held down volume down button and hit power, booted into the prompt, selected "recovery mode," and all I got was a red triangle and exclamation point.
I downloaded the zip, renamed it update.zip, and put it on /sdcard using Astro.
Am I doing something wrong?
I have the exact same problem.
dont do it
Just checking to see if people successfully installed this OTA update from the mirror site link provided earlier in this thread. I think it's my only chance to go to FroYo without using RUU/wiping the phone.
I figure I can update from 1.22.605.0 with this update and then go to the FroYo thread and run that update. Does that sound like it will work?
This whole subject was coverd in another thread.

read the other thread, you need to update to 1.22.605.2 first, easy and does not lose date.
Root and OTA
I have rooted with unrevoked 3.1 but still have stock 2.1. Do I need to unroot to install the OTA or will the OTA still be pushed to my phone while I am still rooted?
OK, this is a little weird. I did the OTA update this morning and all was fine, but then just for grins, I did a manual check for updates again and goit new download!! This one is named OTA_Supersonic_1.47.651.1-1.32.651.6_releaseq2wpcb5jl7uowah9.zip. What the heck is this one? I will go ahead and install and see what happens.
Edit: maybe it just downloaded the same update again...not sure....but it's asking if I want to install it. Should I and/or shouldn't the phone know if the update has already been applied and not ask this again?
if you can get them both on your computer run a md5 sum against the files.

The first OTA was removed after it installed (I think because I cant find it) and the one mentioned above has also disappeared after downloading but before I installed it). If anyone knows where these zip files are saved, let me know and I'll take a look.
did someone wake-and-bake this morning?
Update help
I have a rooted phone. The update downloads then when installing it starts to install, but stops and I get the screen with the red question mark. The phone then reboots and when I go check for the update its as if I never downloaded it.
Anyone have any thoughts?
DO NOT install the 2nd update. there are reposrts of users (on Android Forums) bricking their EVOs on the second update. just and FYI
Yeah some are saying it may brick your phone ... after updating and checking for a new update it states there is one.
Don't really have the time to try and see ... or else I wouldn't anyways ...
Hi,
Spent some time looking around the forums, but I wanted to make sure before I returned the phone for repair.
Basically I had the phone rooted to copy across a couple of library files and so than I can use nVidias Perfhud ES. The device worked perfectly, I also applied the previous update with no problems.
Today, after getting tired of receiving the update nag every few minutes I decided to update to latest firmware (4.5.91 I think). It downloaded the file, restarted, the progress bar run across and restarted again and that's where it stopped at the Moto boot logo.
After 20 minutes I decided to take the battery out and restart, same thing. I looked at the help section of Motorola's website and found the hard reset option. Booted into android recovery mode (the method for 2.2 didn't work, but 2.3 did the job - so I am guessing the boot image 2.3 installed correctly), did a wipe and restarted, again no luck.
Second try, downloaded the update file manually copied to a sd card and through recovery set to update, according to the log all was alright, but it still doesnt get past the motorola boot screen.
Anyone had this before, do I have any options here? I already contacted Motorola they said that I can send it for repair but I am situated in UK and phone was bought through a US retailer (AT&T Atrix) so they need a US address, which makes it kinda complicated. Any help/info will be much appreciated, thanks!

Excellent thanks! I will try this tomorrow - device is at work, just to make sure, this will wipe all data and install latest firmware right?
My take on this is (after looking at the zip of the update and finding those same files I copied across a while ago in there) that for some reason it failed to copy the new ones on top of the old and is trying to call non-existing code.. Hope that method you posted works!

thats a service sbf so in data get preserve...
I think what it was wring with your OTA was that some of the files on you phone are already mod or replaced with something, so when try to do the ota a do the file checksum on each file then return with different code, so the upgrade stop automatic and get stuck in something, in that case you need to flash a SBF
NOTE: that once you are in the new 2.3.4/4.5.91 please NEVER try to downgrade with lower sbf in this case 1.83/1.57/1.26 etc....
Yes, I do remember reading something about not trying to downgrade from latest. You have been really helpful and fast to reply so thanks again!
Seems to be a big problem.
Restore finished with any problems, everything is good! Thanks for your time, I owe you a beer!
Hello All
First post here.
I bought a refurbished TF101 with dock from the Netherlands a week ago and updated to WW 8.6.5.7 OTA right after setting the device up. Then rooted it and used the ad hoc guide by qwer23 (thank you!) from this tutorial (via adb) in order to tether my Nokia N9 with the Joiku wifi hotspot app...
I got the notification yesterday that I could update to 8.6.5.9 OTA but after it checks firmware integrity and reboots, it shows an icon of the android robot with an exclamation mark after it tries to install the installation file.
I did a hard reset to the whole device, and again, OTA notification saying i could update and still shows the same error message when i press on install and it shuts the device down.
possible to get some help regarding this situation? any advice?
cheers
I've got the same problem.
I rooted 3.1 to get AdHoc tethering.
I got the 3.2 ww 8.6.5.7-20110730 OTA update and it installed without losing root or the modified wpasupplicant.
I just got the 8.6.5.9. notification, tried to update and got the android ! warning.
Rebooted/restarted and back to 8.6.5.7. but now no update available.
Can somebody point us to a restoration thread please?
Thanks
so far as I am aware this update wont work on rooted devices so you will have to un root to get it. There are a number of posts stating this on here.

Yes, I know that, I'm perfectly capable of un-rooting.
As I pointed out, the previous 3.2 update installed while rooted, and I remained rooted, so I didn't suspect that this one might not.
There are also posts stating that the update won't show again once it's been downloaded once and the install has failed.
It's not on the Asus firmware downloads page.
So, once I've un-rooted, is the update still stored on the machine or do we have to wait for or find a ww zipfile somewhere?

As far as I know - since I'm in your same situation - there's nothing left to do but:
- bring the device back to stock;
- wait for the update to become available on Asus site, because we will not get any other notification for 8.6.5.9.
Well, this seems merely a question of time and also, some geeky dude out there could dump 8.6.5.9 stock ROM for easy Nvflash flashing
If you've downloaded the update and your TF101 is asking you to check notifications but you no longer have a update notification then you'll need to clear the DMClient cache in order to reactivate the update.
Check this this thread.

Not my case, unfortunately. I received the FOTA notification, made the update process start and then something's gone wrong (green android with an exclamation mark). Now no more update notification is shown; actually searching for an update manually from the tablet returns a message saying that no update is available for my device.

Same here, I had already tried clearing the DMClient Data and Cache.
Somebody must have the downloaded WW file available in their cache, pretty please
i've unrooted my phone, did a full system reset and the update notification appeared. it was showing the android robot with the cogs working in its belly then again i got the exclamation error screen.
i looked at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232810 where it says to check what the updater script checks for. have es explorer installed and it showed that the wpa supplicant and wpa supplicant.original is still in there. should i overwrite the wpa supplicant file with the original one? shouldn't this already happen when i do a full system reset?

My answer is being based of your post and my assumptions.
I'm guessing that when you rooted, you changed other things after that were located in /system?
If so, then you didn't change it back when you unrooted.
All factory resetting does is make your tablet /look/ like it just came out the box. Users that aren't tech savvy do not modify /system files. So when they reset, it /looks/ like it's just out of the box.
In short, factory reset will clear your /data but it will not reset everything back to factory settings in /system.
You will need to re-root, replace the file with the original, then unroot again.
Just my thought process.
Hello
You are right
Yes it was the wpa supplicant file that i had replaced, i have the original (i think) which i copied over in the same directory...but, is there a way to download the original wpa supplicant file for 8.6.5.7 somewhere off the net just in case?
Going to try that now...
Also, just a question, if i download WW 8.6.5.7 from the ASUS website and install that would it completely overwrite and reset everything in /system?

You could just copy the file into your external sdcard.
I believe you could do that. Apparently the new update doesn't require that fix anymore.
I believe that is correct.
I just look at them as a complete update.zip where everything is included in /system.

I've done all this, exchanged the AdHoc wpa_supplicant for the original (which I kept on a removable microsd), unrooted, rebooted (though not factory reset) and manually searched for the update......nothing.
The wpa_supplicant was the only change I had made, to connect to my HD2 Wm6.5
So, I still need the update package, unless I really do need to hard reset?

From what I have seen during my research, it looks like you will need to flash the NVFlash, update to a offical firmware provided by Asus on their website, and THEN check if you can recieve the update.
I'm just hoping.
Thanks, that might be the way, I'll check it out
did the same thing as you...before my device notified me of the update, then it almost updated, but now i'm just not getting any notifications anymore.
will try what The Dark Lestat suggests and will report back when it's done.

I tried to wipe data and hard reset, but nothing.

well, updating to the 3.6.5.7 via the zip file worked...but, still not receiving any notifications of 3.6.5.9 update AT ALL.
I guess, have to wait till someone uploads the WW 3.6.5.9 zip file and will try to install it that way...
(i hope someone does this! )
i've the same problem here. update failed, wiped everything, installed stock hc3.2 but no update available anymore.
It's possible that ASUS blacklists pad's with modified system files? how coul this be done? with gmail account? with wifi mac address? or this sounds too stupid to be true.

Ok so i unzip and put on external SD card - do the power-Volup button and it will update - will this totally undo my system - or will it simply update the tablet without any other changes.....never did manual update - but waiting for the lottery update of Acer is irritating.
Maybe after a bit i won't be so skittish but being Windows person you can understand.
The update will only update your system, you will lose root if you have it, and your files, configurations and apps remains intact.
Yes, you have to put the update.zip file in your external_sd and use Power Vol- to flash it.

It will not wipe out your data, it will unroot you device. Everything else should (should) be intact. Always backup your data first anyway.
