Hi. I'm new here and i don't know if i'm posting this in the right place. I got the motorola milestone and got this app called scruff, when someone message you on there it plays a beautiful notification sound and i really want that sound as my main notification sound. i tried root explorer but i couldn't find the sound as a file.
Can you point me to the right direction? i'm sure theres has to be in somewhere but i don't know where exactly. If someone coulp help me i'd really aprecciate it!
Thanks in advance!!!
The required files are attached. You will have to convert them to ogg format and push it into /system/media/audio/notifications or create the same file structure ( media/audio/notifications ) on the sdcard and copy them there.
Thank you soooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
Start off by apologizing if this is somewhere and I missed it, I have searched and searched.
I was able to flash a new bootscreen the otherday no problem. I have found another that I would like to push to my phone, but when I attempt it I get the ADB error that my device is full....
I followed a "delete bootanimation.zip" process and get an error that no file(extension) exists.
I looked at the dir and see that it(/system/media) is 94% taken, which would explain why I get the error message.
I am looking for a way to free up/delete/erase the /system/media/audio/ringtones since I don't use them at all and that is a big chunk, 47 files.
Is there a way to do so or to move em atleast so I can free up that space.
When trying to do it with my file explorer I get the error that I don't have permission....lol
Please help I wants to put new stuffs on mah phone!
Thanks in advance!

Thanks alot for the info. Worked like a charm.
You wouldn't by chance know how to remove the "office phone" sound when I boot up would you. In CM5.0.8 and when ever I shut down or restart I get that ringing sound, I'd like to replace it. Any ideas?

Bootup/down tone

After some research and a good recommendation from Firerat @Cyanogenmod forums, I was able to do it. The ring I was hearing was a SD card notification. Turns out if you really want to you can put whatever sound, song, byte, etc. you want in there you just have to do a little converting.
This is how I did it.
1. Downloaded this: FlicFlac
2. Install, like 5 secs
3. Open FlicFlac, select convert to OGG
4. click on the big box that says select file
5. Pick ur MP3 or whatever audio file it is, and...BAM! u have conversion
Now I used Android Commander to place the file in the directory, /system/media/audio/notifications
You can prolly ADB push that as well.
Reboot and there you have it. New "boot sound" lol. (of course you need to go into notification sounds ((Settings > Sound & Display > Notification Ringtone)) and select your newly created .ogg file for it to work)
Hope you like.

Very simple solution.
Copy the empty file (sound) shutter.wav to the Windows folder.

Could you tell me where exactly is the shutter.wav file?
It's in: \Windows
It seems I don't have write access, how can I fix this?
Ditto, i don't have write access either. I'm able to locate the file using Touchxplorer and Adnvanced Explorer, but if I try to delete it it gives me an error saying it can't. i have verified that my phone is still unlocked using Chevron, so I'm not sure what to do.
Is there a way to enable write access in the windows folder? A registry change possibly? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
when i tried to do that it show acces is denied
Ok shutter.wav for picture but now what's the sound for the 'bip' when videorecording ?
videostart.wav
I want to change the sound that the phone makes when you adjust the volume and it goes BEEP...
I can't seem to find it in the system/media/ui...
I then went into QtADB and used the logcat, and tried to locate the file. I found the sound file and it says this:
getActualDefaultRingtoneUri : content://media/internal/audio/media/62
Uri.parse(uriString) : content://media/internal/audio/media/62
sendVolumeUpdate VOLUME_CHANGED_ACTION streamType=2
Can anyone tell me where this media/internal/audio folder is?
When I go into system/media folder all that's available is an audio and video folder.
Thanks
Not to be a pain but this is really bugging me I really wanna know where this file is at... Anyone??? I know there is someone here that knows.
Hi,
I recently switched from WP7 to Android and wondered, whether someone is able and willing to extract the segovia ringtone for me?
I found a thread with extracted ringtones from WP7, but there were only a handful and of course it also missed segovia...
thanks in advance for any help or hint
I was working on an already dumped ROM .
So there you go.
EDIT: The ringtone is hidden, "show hidden files and folders" to be able to see it.
EDIT2: Uploaded the file already unhid .
cool
thank you very very much
You're welcome, also hitting the "Thanks" button is appreciated, even if its someone you dont like
I'm sorry to re-open this, but is there a way to get all the HD7 rom ringtones ?
Thanks by advance
Could anyone dump the stock unmodified /system/media/audio folder for me?
My sounds got messed up after trying to add my previous ogg files and I'm trying to restore it and see what I did wrong to mess this up.
I was hoping to get the list of all the original sounds and maybe someone could upload them in a zip file here.
Thanks!

Ty Sir!
I derped with my sounds too. Thanks for putting this up!
Where you able to fix yours?? Still running into the same issue with them not working even when I copy the ogg files to the correct folder.
They copy fine and show in sound settings but they won't play but a default chime

The files copied, and I'm still tinkering with permissions that possibly need to be aligned, but nothing plays on the device. File sizes match up with what I saw previously, but Google Play returns with "Couldn't play the track you requested."
Same here... Tried to give it full perm but that didn't work.
Interestingly the same files will play perfectly if moved to another folder...
I'm really hoping not to have to wipe!!!

I got it! Not only is it the file permissions, but the folder permissions have to be correct too. I found the audio folder needs drwxr-xr-x, the alarms, notifications, ringtones, ui need drwxr-xr-x, and then the sounds themselves need -rw-r--r--. It's one by one, but I've successfully gotten lock, unlock and effect tick under the UI folder working again.
Good luck!
U tha man!!!!!
That did the trick.. Actually only needed to change permissions on files.. Folders were still setup fine.
I ended up ssh into the device and chmod 644 * under each folder after enabling to on the system folder.
2min fix!!
