Got rid of case... - Vibrant General

Damn I forgot just how thin this damn phone is. And the sgs II is going to be even thinner? Wow, go samsung.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App

It's a skinny phone, my rubber case made it bigger, took it off and it's perfect, fits nice. Just gotta be careful.

I love the phone without a case but you have to freakin bear grip it or else its a slippery little bastard at times lol

If you get the zag shield that comes with front and back protection it'll make the phone a lot easier to handle.

Removing Cincinnati Bell logo

Has anyone managed to remove the ugly Cincinnati Bell decal logo off their vibrants? If so, how did you go about doing this?
LOL, I've seen that logo and its substantially more obnoxious than any other logo I've seen. I can't remember exactly but I think its up at the top alot like the T-Mobile logo is just ALOT BIGGER(a pic might help maybe?). If it is then I know the Otter Box case covers up that whole section. It will still be there but at least you won't have to look at it anymore. Good luck!
Hi very likely I will be getting Samsung vibrant what do you think of it

lol, Yup thats what I was thinking. I saw one in person once and that was the first thing I noticed, the gawd awful logo!
- have your tried some sort of paint thinner? maybe goo-gone? be careful tho
- seriously google "samsung vibrant otterbox" images, its a great case and it will cover that area completely.
I removed my CB logo with a razor blade and bit of patience.

Meh. It's harmless, and I've barely noticed it was there since I got my phone a couple months ago.
Why risk possibly damaging the phone or the gorilla glass?

Two reasons - the screen protector bubbles around it and two; everyone and their cousin asks you why there's a sticker on the front of your phone.
A co-worker removed his with his fingernail and a CreditCard.

Comes right off
... if you just use a little bit of isopropanol and a kimwipe (or if you don't have that, try using a non-scratch dish sponge)
Guess what it says underneath?!? T-mobile LOL
If it's just a decal, heat it up a little (leave it on your dash) and see if you can't get it off then. Several years ago I owned a small graphics company and we used this stuff called "Vinyl Up" to remove anything with an adhesive. It's very gentle and doesn't eat paint. That said, it's a little expensive in this context.

Ziploc case?

I went down to the pool today thinking I would use a Ziploc to store my phone. As it turns out, I can still use the phone in the bag?????? Is this something special about the s3 screen, or have I been spending way too much on waterproof cases on my old phones?

Not something I'd try, but that sounds pretty cool! In response to your question, it's most likely due to the fact that it's a capacitive screen which registers electrical impulses

Lol, I put my phone in a zip lock bag when I mow the yard to keep it from getting dirty from dust.

Its just a layer of plastic. This shouldn't be surprising. Screen protectors are just a layer of plastic glued to our screens.

I accidentally found out last year when I put my phone in a baggie to protect it from the rain. If you think about it, it is just an oversized screen protector.

[Q] Will you be buying a case for your Nexus 4?

I say this because after reading the verge review, Joshua knocked the phone over and the back glass broke.
Well I sure dont want to risk so I will.
Just ordered a Best Skins Ever full body skin, should offer some protection without ruining the look of the phone
Cruzerlite FTW
Maybe if there is one with the flip cover that doesn't add too much bulk otherwise no case. It's too pretty.

SquareTrade or something is a popular choice I keep hearing about
I'll make my own protective cover, using double sided adhesive tape, liquid teflon or silicon. Modeling that to just fit Nexus 4's back and adding 1mm to its thinness.
I may get the bumper case
Sent from my SGH-T769 using xda premium
Nope.. I wouldn't have one for my iPhone either if Apple didn't give it to me free of charge.
The glass looks nice apart from the fact that it's a fingerprint magnet.

Yeah, probably a TPU one.
I will most definitely get a Noreve case for it.
Yep, a black rubber one for the back/sides and a clear skin for the screen.
I voted no, but would use a thin clear case if they became available just for scratch protection. I don't care for the TPU cases as they add some bulk.
Will be getting a flip case...
I don't know really, I've never had a glass parts phone, only plastic.
I saw the Verge video too and the crack was pretty annoying since once you see it you can't ignore it.
But then again with screenprotectors and cases the phone gets less comfortable, besides Gorilla Glass 2 is supposed to be really strong and flexible. Once I get the phone and use it for a bit I'll rethink and definitely check out this thread again to see who recommends what cases etc.
Yes, but I'll only use it for the first month or so. After that naked.

Screen Protector | Now can't hang up call?!

I put on best skin ever, skin and then when I made a call the phone wouldn't lite up to see the hang up button. So I took skin off tested call it worked with skin off. I then put screen protector by Lumii Ark (great screen protector) and the same in call experience.
I haven't taken the protector off yet simply looking for a fix. I know that there are the two sensors on the upper left corner. It is polished clean and the protector is crystal clear. Any thoughts or similar experience?

Yup, pretty much. Or you can use scissors
I tried scissors with the skin and ruined the skin. I appreciate both responses. Have either of you had to fix this with ur N4 I have had a lot of androids and never any issues like this with the sensor being covered by screen protector.
I'll consider the hole punch. But would have to buy another screen protector. Sigh

Liberate yourself and go without the screen protector. I've used screen protectors on all my previous phones from the HTC Sensation, Galaxy SII, Galaxy SIII, and Galaxy Nexus.
When the Nexus 4 was announced I sold my SIII and picked up a Galaxy Nexus for relatively cheap. I decided that since the Galaxy Nexus was going to become my backup phone I'd go without a case or screen protector. Over the past 3 weeks of using the phone this way I've really grown to appreciate the phone "naked". Now I really could never go back to covering these beautiful phones with a case or screen protector again. I haven't been babying the phone like I normally would and it doesn't have a single scratch anywhere on it.
I'm really looking forward to using the Nexus 4 without any protection and enjoying it for what it is. Worst case, if I drop it and it gets damaged I'll shell out the ~$160 for a replacement from Google. I made enough profit from selling the SIII (which I put away just in case) to easily cover the cost of a replacement if necessary. For me, this is plenty peace of mind to enjoy the phone with no protection.
Just my $0.02.
Fair enough. I already bought a case I'll get first week of Dec. I have had the phone since the 18th so I know the awesome naked feeling u speak of.

I want a flip to car that leaves the screen bare when open. I will just use the case when I think the phone needs added protection.
I do not really like anything that is on the touch screen but I may put a transparent shield on the back glass.

Case advice. Looking for a support thin case. Any ideas?

OK so I've never used a case on any phone I've every owned because I've always hated how thick they were and made it impossible to fit in a belt style holster. Now however I definitely need one since the speaker is on the back making the phone impossible to watch videos or do anything with audio while laying the phone down. So I'm looking for something that's as thin add possible while also having a kick stand of some sort... Any ideas?

I heard the seidio case cases scratches on the bezel so u would have to put tape on the bezel to prevent the scratching. It also scratched their screen.

Has anyone provided pictures to support this? I only saw one person mention this in the Seidio thread but after people asked for more info and pictures he disappeared.

I didn't disappear. I threw the case in the trash before taking any pictures, mea culpa. I do have the holster which is nice. If you don't believe me please go for it, but it. will. scratch. your. phone. Just wait till the active case comes out. It looks nice and seems the inner layer is all silicone which is much more friendly on your phone than the plastic. The problem is, you just aren't going to find a hard slim case that wont scratch your phone unless the entire thing has a soft rubber inside, is tight in the case, and doesn't use any sort of sliding mechanism to fit together. It's the friction and whatever debris is in there that causes the scratching... on the glass. The plastic bezel is very soft. Doesn't take much to scratch it. Dust under a TPU case can scuff up the phone too, but not like the surface. You can use a TPU case with the surface. Looks fine and works great.
Just for your enjoyment... I did some dumpster diving through my kitchen trash can, but my wife took that trash out already. Got my arms full of meat juice, spit, eggs, and other nasty crap just to show that I'm not a troll, but the bag is apparently in the big can in the garage. Maybe I'll take some pics of that just to prove that I have the case. I have no axe to grind with Seidio. I've spent hundreds on their products. They just don't make a good surface case for the nexus 4. I just don't want people to damage a hard to find phone and in the process, waste $60ish hard earned on a product that does more damage than it protects.
Jayrod is not a troll and anything he says I believe he has helped me with countless things on here

Thanks for the recommendation mate, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. I mean I love that it can be a kickstand but I don't like the look of a folder clip looking thing on the back of my phone. ;(
I'm looking for something slim and thin as possible but has the option to prop my device up. Something like this but for the Nexus 4:
