Flashing kernels - Vibrant General

I am running Malice with the Overstock 1.2 overclock. Was flashed using the SGS kernel flasher. Everything is running great, but I just noticed the Bullet 1.4 kernel. Can I just flash that over the top, or do I have to disable the 1.2 one somehow? And if I need to disable, do I do that in CWM recovery. Thanks.

No need to disable anything. You can flash with clockwork recovery or kernel flasher.

By the way the Bullet kernel is awesome. I get about 25 hrs of battery life with moderate use and with it all the way overclocked.

I don't really recommend using SGS KErnel Flasher.. Everytime I use it, I get bricked.

I've always flashed kernels with sgs kernel flasher and haven't had any problems, anybody else having bad results with it?
Sent from xda app on vibrant running Trigger 2.9.2 with overstock 2.2.1

Worked fine. Used SGS flasher and running great now.

I only use sgs kernel flasher. So much easier and faster. I never had any issues with it.

Have aosp flashed. Then goto eugene373 website and download one of his overclocked kernels. Flash this and your done. I am currently using AOSPish 1.1 with Eugene's OC/UV kernel and OCLF and it runs great. Very little errors.

[Q] Kernals in DL30

Can any of the nonvoodoo dj05 and dl09 kernals be ran on the DL30 rom. I am noticing a decrease in performance and battery compared to the undervolted kernals I used before. I don't want to try running one if I will get stuck in a boot loop or fc hell.
Considering DL30 is using a 2.6.32.9 kernel. I can assure you that an eclair kernel will surly break things.
good day.

Err....for 2.2 you mean? Kernels for DL09 2.1 exist, but unless i'm mistaken the 2.2 kernel source isn't available, hence the lack of kernels

Setcpu Bionix 1.2.1

Hey everyone/teamwhiskey,
So I didnt go to froyo 2.2 and went with bionix - its awesome. Prior to this update, I was stock 2.1 with root and lagfix. I used setcpu to push the phone to the limits, I'm wondering if setcpu can be used with bionix so I can set profiles?
If it can be used what are the profiles that everyone is using?
Thanks

bionix is a stock kernel...you'll need to flash a kernel that supports OC I believe.
Ahhh thanks for the reply.

Kernels

So I have the kernel manager, and I have flashed the dodgekernel_v1.3 and my WiFi,4G and hotspot are broken. Any help would be useful. Also is there a stable kernel I can run with the stock shift Rom??

If your running stock froyo scaryghouls kernels are talked about as being really good i just never used it, bcnice20s kernels is what i always used on froyo, now when it comes to stock GB there is no kernel source from htc so all the newer kernels are for aosp 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 i cant keep up with aosp

Never used the Kernel manager. But if your running stock Froyo Shift Rom you can try one of these. I've used them all with good results. First one is my favorite.

No problem .Glad I could help . Just remember to hit the Thanks button anytime ANYONE helps you.
ive heard not so good things of kernel manager
and was told to stay away from it..
but im glad yer problem was fixed now.
whoever said that is simply wrong. kernel manager is a good tool. it downloads/checks download integrity/clears cache and dalvik/installs kernel all in a single step.
the only thing you have to decide is which kernel you want.

Man I don't know how to say this but I am just at wits end with this stuff. I tried to flash the first kernel and it kept freezing my phone up. I just want thing to work properly.

What ROM are you using and what kernel did you flash?
Froyo from what I was told.
Hey just an update, I flashed the x99 kernel and all seems to be working well. 4G works and gas works well just used it to find the hospital. Gonna check the hotspot and WiFi soon. Thanx again. And one more question, where is this thank u button. Is it in the main site.

Glad everythings working right now . Can't see the button in XDA App / Tapatalk. It's the thanks button. Thumbs up in a rectangle, says THANKS.
Anyone have any luck with PERSHOOT'S V2 Kernel? Keeps freezing my phone no matter what my min/max/gov are...
Currently using V1...
EDIT: d/led through the Kernel Manager (free version)

Which kernel to choose?

Currently thinking about flashing a kernel so I can have some overclocking abilities. Prolly going to flash AGAT Gs4 v3, hopefully there are no bugs left. Currently rooted in mdc still, with hot spot mod. Using Team Win Recovery. Any concerns or compliments before I flash? Had problems before with kernels on a Gs3 that hard bricked device, but That was back when I didn't know a whole lot about flashing with Samsung devices.

I use ktoonsez right now and it's awesome~! It's very stable, allows for granular control over governor, schedular, and voltage settings. I highly recommend it.

It says must have touch wiz Rom. The TW is stock rom isn't it not? I also contemplated trying this one, it s just that AGAT seems more of a stock kernel?

TW rom is anything not AOSP/AOKP and based off Touchwiz (yes, stock rom is a TW rom). There are numerous custom TW roms in Dev section. Also, either agat63, faux123, or ktoonsez TW kernels work fine with stock rom. They will have different results and vary from device to device. Only way to find out which will work better for you is to flash them.
Currently I'm running ktoonsez TW kernel on stock rom but used faux123 kernel on my S3 and it worked great so will probably try it as well.
Flashing to ktoonsez, see you on the flip side. ..

yea you need the latest supersu. I'm on ktoonz now and it's wonderful. I do get some force closings here and there but idk what to attribute that to. faw faux also has a kick ass kernel that has dynamic fsync among other things

I do have the latest super su. The notification isnt really a bother. It get s to hang out up there with the mdl update. Seems like this turned into my own kernel test topic only had one reboot but that was cuz the battery died. I think, phone wouldn't turn back on until I plugged back in. Weird though couldve swore I had 20% Battery left.
Btw, this kernel is pretty sweet so far, it s funny because my desktop has only a mere 2.3ghz processor, and I'm getting my phone up overclocked to 2.1ghz. Haven't really went higher than that even though you can.
