I don't think you actually even need to be rooted, rsd flashes don't require root.

Use gladenable to get sideloading.

I know that there are other ways to side load apps but I thought that with this latest update that ut was enabled from Att?

Not from at&t yet. Other android phones, yes, but not the atrix. The enabling of sideloading doesn't have to be a major firmware update, either. It's a simple edit.

There's no ATT approved method of using nonmarket apps. You can either use Sideload wonder machine OR root/gladenable.

I just got an OTA update. Is this new or am I just really late getting it?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I had heard there was another update coming...
your 4.24 ota update
I have 2 answers for you:
1. it's late.
2. if your phone is rooted, DON'T download it! It will kill your root. a few of the devs have already rooted 4.22 and 4.24 -- look around in the threads.
3. if you phone IS NOT rooted, download it.
Hmmm, so....what got updated? Can't find anything new.

The smart actions app is on the new Razr
And I was wondering if possible can it be used on the Atrix specifically?

It's like Tasker. I'd like to know if it's possible to get it to work on the Atrix aswell.

I'm guessing its more about the cost, which I can't fault anyone for wanting a free alternative...

If cost is the issue AutomateIt might be worth a try, even the paid version is only $1.50. And it claims to be easier to use than Tasker also, but I've never tried it. Hopefully I'm not too far off topic..
If anyone can tell me how to deodex the app, i might be able to start

Pretty sure it will require the new Blur from the razor as well. Which would also be cool. I'm liking the newer versions of Blur.
So I guess this is a dead thread? I am also interested in this app.

the redpill beta is gb based. i had opened up the bluractions apk just to snoop around and it depends on a bunch of com.motorola.blahblahblah files here and there. so i stuck the apk in the beta redpill and flashed but it didnt work. dammit. well at least i tried. its gonna take a lil porting im sure.

I had gotten the refreshed update for my EVO that upgraded me to Android 2.3.6 and, even though it's A LOT snappier and faster than before, I was wondering if there was a method to rooting it

It works but if you can't follow instructions because there are A LOT or don't understand them then I don't suggest doing it. I've seen these instructions on Android centrals forums, phandroid and other Android sites.

Any idea how to enable it?

I believe on cm9 it gives you the option to temporarily disable root.
Might come in handy?
also you need to make sure your boot.img is secure eg
ro.secure=1 in /default.prop
