I recall seeing a thread around here a ways back that had instructions for how to improve WiMax signal strength. Think it had something to do with changing the dBm...
But after digging for a while, I can't find the thread that had the instructions.
Does it still exist? If not, does anyone know what I need to do?
Thanks!
wimax boost
I saw it some where as well and can no longer find it either! Sure would love to know how to do it as well now that I am more familiar with the whole SU/Root/Roms of the shift 4G!
Here you go.Worked great on my Epic 4g and the EVO Shift.

Nice, thanks
Confirmed that changing these settings improves chances of connecting to a 4G access point. It does not increase the speed much, but if you don't like eating away the 3G 5000mb transferlimit, it is not a bad idea.

CM7 is AOSP, Stock/Mik Shift is Sense.
Soo no, you'd have to nandroid your CM7 and flash a stock, do the changes, nandroid back.

Not sure if it is or not but I can tell you it runs 10 times smoother....
WiFi is buggy when trying to connect to a secured network, 4G does not work, battery is the same as every ROM, if you use all the features and apps that came with the phone it Sucks, They all Suck.

I've been using this ROM for a few days, I'd tried the CM Nightly builds and I always come back to Decks ROM. None of them are 100% but they both are solid, I just prefer Decks, I also prefer a Sense ROM.
the battery on Deck's is def better
and it's way less buggy. I know CM6 is just a nightly but if you're looking for a Froyo rom that has camera available I recommend Deck's
the biggest bug is that the LED does not work at all. Also I am getting awful scores in quadrant with it.
pick your poison I guess
I am still having WiFi problems on secured networks.

anyone else tried this ROM yet??? Feedback??
Well, on that note... Baked Pastries isn't th at bad... It seems to have a lot of things going for it as well...
I used both cm6 nightly and Deck. I lean towards Deck for the sense. Both are great though. Deck is an excellent chef coming over from windows mobile. He is top notch.

the only real problems with these is the 4g. so far, all of these are ports from other phones (like Warm-Z), and missing this feature because of lack of (access to) drivers, and unlikely to get it anytime soon. (correct me if I'm wrong?) as I actually get good 4g coverage, that's what keeps me from using these roms as DDs.
I guess the exception is the CM7 ROMs, but then there are GPS issues... and no Sense, obviously.
wrong. the 4g from cm can be implemented into other roms, and has been already in several. Also gps issues are fixed by resetting the gps in a sense rom.
Its just up to the devs to add it. There are more important things to get working before 4g though

I assume you are referring to some sense2 + GB ROM? the OP was asking specifically about that, and the only one I know of is the warmZ, that (as far as I know) has no 4g yet...? (admitidly I am not the flashaholic I once was, don't keep up on the nightlies like I used to)
also, IMHO, flashing to a rom to have toflash back is not a "fix", but a "workaround". (not flaming, our starting arguments, just an opinion. )

AH! Had not read through that thread at all. Very interesting! Thanks for pointing this one out to me.
And yea, i would assume that 4G will be the last thing to be in the "must fix" list, esp. over cam/wifi/ect.
thanks for the correction, sort of.

The way I see it is CM keeps adding and adding stuff, rather than perfecting. I personally flashed back to CM, but once a true AOSP come out it on!
edit...just want to add that since the merge of 2.3.3 battery is worse, and reboots take longer, speaking of CM7 of course.
Hi,
Well, i finally rooted my phone, after 5 dyas of dealing with the things, diferent ways, etc.
Now, I would like to know from you all guys, what ROMs are good out there. What do you all recomend me to try.
I already have Cyanogen on my little old G ( version 6 ) And it looks pretty cool.
Any suggestion? i want a stable ROM where i can Install the apps without problems, or having any kinda of signal problem, or networks ( g, 3G, HSPA) problems
Thanks for your Suggestions!
Daniel
If you like sense, evil d's virtuous fusion. I use to hate sense roms but I've been rockin it as a d'd for a while now. Battery life was horrible at first but with faux's low voltage kernel and juice defender, I've gotten surprisingly good battery life. Sense 3.0 features are elegant and functional. Way faster and stable than any other sense roms I used.
I use royal ginger for aosp Rom. Phenomenal battery life speed and stability.

The point was people can give opinions, but you won't know what works for you until you try it yourself. He/she can listen to a suggestion just to found out they don't like it and flash another.
^^ That should have been obvious without me having to elaborate.
I switched to meXdroid a couple days ago and love it. It's really fast, battery is good looks great and everything works ( except your upside down in the front facing camera) but I can live with that. You can also download it through Rom Manager
It really depends what you are looking for.

I've rocked eViL DEE's Sense 3.0 ROM, RoyalThunder and Cyanogen.
I always go back to CM7Nx. But then again it's easy for us to put what we like on your phone. You should invest in Titanium Backup and explore the ROMs for your self like Donny P mentioned to begin with.

For some reason when I use the AOSP roms, my wifi/3g/voice signal levels are lower than my sense based rom. Is Miui better in that regard?

I believe it has something to do with the 3g signal strenght on cyanogen mod vs sense which measure voice so miui will read the same as aosp .

This really means nothing. Signal strength should be the same, just how they calculate the bars makes the difference. Signal strength is based on the antenna and the radio is determining a number based on the quality of the signal. The ROM will have to decide when to display a certain numbers of bars. Remember when the iPhone 4 came out and had "antennagate," part of apples fix to make it look better was to recalculate how bars are calculated:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-30686_3-20009564-266.html
So, even though you may see few bars on AOSP or MIUI vs Sense, the actual signal quality should be the same. Try speed tests or voice calls to confirm that actual usage is not any worse.

Lith,
Question for you, I have installed and am currently running the MIUI with great results. The only issues I have so far is the notification for voice mail that appears in the top left of the screen is showing three voice mails and I can not get it to go away, and the *86 number for VM did not work, I got it to function by entering my cell number and it goes to vm now.
Great ROM though and the battery life has been far better than any of the android ROM's I have been working with recently.
Thank you,
