I found out, that you can add the older android version sites to the phone without rooting it..(maybe some of you already know this)
okej.. so go to:
settings/application(s)/manage applications/then you get to a list of applications, find htc sense and click it/ then click on clear default, then click on the home buttom, and you should be able to choose home or htc sense.. click on use by default for this action, and then choose the one you want to use as normal..

tried the Home and other main screen apps but HTC sense is king for now
(is just installed home via APK and i could switch with the home button long press)
Didn't know that. Thanks.
Googled for a little while but couldn't find anything.
I would like to use the official 2.1 home app.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks in advance
this is how it worked in 1.5, not sure if it does in 2.1 as i don't use it yet.
in 1.5 you could go to settings->applications and in the list of installed applications there also was "HTC Sense". if you looked at the details you could see that it was the default app for some actions and there was a button "delete default settings" or something like that. after that, when you hit the home button, you would get a question dialog asking if you want to use Launcher or HTC Sense for that action. you could also select to always use this setting there.
an alternative (also only tested by me in 1.5) could be the app "home switcher" that shows you all home apps installed and lets you select
hope that is helpful
I know, but this doesn't work anymore. I got used to sense now, but I'm getting really annoyed right now! It's just too SLOW
Using adw now quite pleased with that
can you share how you disabled Sense? i don't want to uninstall it completely
ok, i guess the htc didn't want users to switch to the default interface.
however, I attached the Launcher.apk from the emulator running 2.1, maybe it is possible to install it on hero as well.
hope it works!
Hello,
Is it possible to run Wildfire using bare bones Android OS ? I mean can the bare-bone Android run on Wildfire without the HTC Sense and other stuff that is preloaded ?
If yes then how ?
Thanks.
If you just want to disable HTC sense you can do that via settings. Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>HTC Sense>Clear Defaults. This will make you select the home screen between the android basic home and the HTC sense home. You can select either and even make it default. To revert back, do the same for Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Home>clear Defaults.

Hi,
I removed HTC Sense to remove the lag in the phone. It is a bit better now but not that much. Is there any way to optimize the phone so it uses less resources and does'nt lags. Right now the lag is so much. For ex. If a call is coming and I decline the call then also the ring tone keeps on ringing for 2-3 secs.
I do not understand why a phone should lag in its most basic feature ?
Also how to remove the call accept/decline system which is drag type and instead get the buttons ? I would really prefer the buttons instead of the dragging system.
Thanks.
HI , is there a way to disable sense after the update to 2.2 .?

If you go to "Menu -> Settings -> Apps -> Manage apps" and choose the "All apps" tab, find HTC Sense and then choose "Clear standards" that should do it. (My menu is Danish so these menu points might not be entirely correctly named)
When you press the "Home" button you can choose which launcher you want to use.
Not completely sure if this is what you meant by disabling Sense - this way you can use another launcher but Sense will still be there.
Otherwise I believe you will have to root and install a different ROM.
Cheers mate ..
1st i have selected to force close htc sense and then directly press the HOME button . when doing so sense just restarts .
when i press the clear all data button , it clears all data and then starts ( reloads sense ) and then i start from the beginning .
I guess i have to install a launcher in order to use my phone without sense ?
basically what i would like to try out is just to use the standard interface , without send would it look like this
Cheers

Of course I should have checked before posting but it seems the option to choose Android home has disappeared updating to Froyo...
Before when doing as I described I could choose between stock Android home, HTC Sense and Launcher Pro - now I can only choose between the latter two.
However, I can definitely recommend Launcher Pro. It improved responsiveness so much in Eclair that I haven't even bothered to try out Sense after updating although I guess I should
Launcher Pro is only other launcher I've tried so others might be just as good but if you want to try something other than Sense I wouldn't hesitate
Home Switcher's a good app for this.

1.) Dialer issue
Are you using the v6.0 of Sabsa and do you have install the fix for the dialer? -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32033028&postcount=2094
2.) Auto shortcuts
Play store -> Settings -> uncheck the option like "Insert Widgets automatic on start screen"
Dialer Fix
Flash this zip to get your dialer..
Hit the Thanks Button if i helped you:laugh:
Another thing to sometimes remember.
I'm using a non-HTC Sense ROM at the moment, but if I remember correctly with HTC Sense, I think you can go to Contacts, and at the bottom of that screen, there is an Open Dialer button.
Just something to keep in mind.
