Actually make your speaker sound good!

I found a way to make your crappy desire hd speaker actually sound acceptable!
Works best on sense roms but you can use it for any others too;
1. download a program called 'gscript lite' from the market
2. once you've done that open the program and add a script
3. Name it whatever you want and the script you enter is
a) For sense rom - 'snd3254 -dspmode 07' = For better speaker quality and 'snd3254 -dspmode 11' for better headset quality
b) For Cm7 and MIUI - 'snd3254 -dspmode 04' = For better speaker and 'snd3254 -dspmode 08' for better headset
4. now run the script and BAM speaker sounds louder, deeper and... better =D

WORKAROUND FOR FROYO: (Roms like ARHD 3.x)
Download a program from the market called 'terminal emulator' and run it
then type in the following script
'su
snd3254 -dspmode xx'
Su on the first line to enable superuser permissions -> enter -> then type in the script
Optional
You can create script shortcuts on your homescreen by selecting -> shortcuts -> gscript lite -> then whatever you named your script
And if you want to enable the script for better speaker quality on boot you can do so by going into the gscript application -> press and hold the script you want on boot -> save to sd -> download a program from the market called 'script manager' -> go to the folder sdcard/gscript -> select the saved script -> open as 'script' -> then tick the boxes 'run as root' and 'run at boot' -> save it and close the app and your selected script will run at boot!
Let me know if this makes your speakers better in anyway =D
(oh and if you select 'dolby' when playing music in sense through the speaker then run the sense speaker script it sounds really good... just a tip )

All of us we have a ginger rom with dolby or/and some sound improvement which including in the rom, that thread is helping more or this is only for official rooted phones???

This adds sound improvements on top of that already included =P
And yes you need root to do this

don't ever compare with stock 2.2 based sound, it is just unfair!! =oP

PowerAmp now supports Dolby and SRS!!!
just an fyi to all those people who use prefer poweramp but use stock player for SRS and Dolby! =D

seems to work in coredroid hd rom...So, we must run script everytime reboot HDH, right??Unless we use script manager,right??

Yep you have to run it every time you boot if you're not using script manager. Personally, I just keep a shortcut on my screen, just tap and your speakers are good to go =D

[Q] Microfon Issues on 4.1 JB

Hello there,
I've used three Roms so far and none seemed to fix my problem...
MY PROBLEM
- People keep telling me I sound like a Roboter and that my microphone level is to high.
WHAT HAVE I TRIED:
- Installed three ROMS, none fixed the issue
- used hd2 mic gain control, didnt fix the issue
- disabled “Audible touch tones”, didnt fix the issue
- during call, enabled the speaker and disabled it, didnt fix the issue
I am really frustraded and help would be appreciated, any suggestions?

download the file: htcleo.adb
htcleo.adb default.acdb change the name and replace the various softach then it will be quieter mic gain without using hd2 micgain.
It works in any firmware.
Unzip the firmware default.acdb delete the file path is:
system / etc / firmware
Paste in the same place htcleo.adb but renamed to default.acdb.
Firmwawe pack again in the zip and install.
Way by me tested on at least four different softach.
Htcleo.adb file has just been muted the microphone so that the well can be heard by the ear and as a speakerphone.
Use the hd2 micgain it works only if you receive a call and if you call it every time during the connection each time you need to attenuate the volume + / - and then work micgain and as is always the outgoing calls.
I know what I'm writing because I spent the whole week is the time to get to this so I could hear other people well.
I would add that there was a moment that I wanted to throw mijego Leon because of the kind of small detail but well working phone are essential.
I have a htc hd2 EU version of the GSM network and not CDMA CDMA reportedly because you do not have to do this combination.
I do not know why chefs do not normally throw each as modified firmware htcleo.adb htcleo.

I found another solution that might serve somebody else...
SOLUTION
For some reason my mic gain was way to high, therefore I had to adjust the gain manually.
You need
- root
- explorer (like file explorer or Root browser lite)
- some sort of text editor, root browser lite has an editor
Open explorer and go to: /etc/init.d/
- make a new file or edit:
10mic_level
- insert the following into that file
echo '0 375' > /proc/mic_level
echo '1 600' > /proc/mic_level
restart your device...
- the first echo (echo '0 ) sets the gain for a normal call to 375
- the seconde one (echo '1 ) sets the gain to 600 when the speaker is turned on
- the gain can be 0-1000 you might have to play a little with the values

1. xposed: i installed xposed framework, rebooted, then installed GravityBox, none of the tweaks in it wkrs. like transparent status bar/traffic meter.
after installing the GB and setting it up, i rebooted, but still not wrking.
2. window support is also not wrking. hv added some of the apps to wkr in window mode, but all run in full screen.
Have you tried these on ur rom ???

Multi-window not working, but some features of Gravitybox well.
Actually I've put Multi-window by mistake, it was a bit late when I saw
However you may remove this app by following steps below.
1- Deactivate Multi-window app in Xposed modules menu (uncheck)
2- Reboot
3- Open RootBrowser and go to System/app directory
4- Long press on multi_window.apk and select Delete
I didn't tested all of modules and most of them are not working properly because of Tablet UI, I'll remove both application in next firmware mod.

I am having issues with wifi direct. I can establish the wifi direct connection with the other device (Samsung Galaxy S3) just fine, I can send files from the box to the SG3, but I absolutely can't receive files sent from the SG3 to the box (I never even get the prompt).
I also tried to use the Superbeam app, and same story: I can send files out but not receive them.
Any clue? I am not sure whether this is specific to your ROM as I haven't tried with any other.

Possible answer for WiFi Direct function is Firmware related, because I didn't touched any system file except su binary and build.prop.
I also tested by my self, receiving files from TVBox is working but transfering to the device isn't via SuperBeam.
As I said before, I suppose it is a firmware bug and must be reported.
And question is:

NFS help needed
I tried the rom on my cr11s and i must say its awesome except that its a bit slow.. i also can't get nfs to mount thru adb nor cifsmanager.. does the supplied nfs.ko support nfsv4? Everything else is working with no major issues.. thanks for the rom anyways...

It is very little bit slower than v1.1 but its not really noticable on 2D applications, can you specify what have you experienced actually?
I'm using a NTFS formatted NAS drive with no problem, even watching MKV files about 40-50 mbps rate. (NetGear ReadyNAS).
All of thoose modules have been supplied but not loaded by default need manually installed or you must add lines to the init.rc from system.
This can't be automatically because Kernel needs to be modified and I don't want to do that.
NFS module is actual module for RK3188.
If you more specify problem may be I can look it for you.
And for your consideration...
Some issues are FIRMWARE RELATED, because these firmwares aren't fully optimized, just generic RK3xxx roms.
Not good drivers at all...
And not all manyfacturers optimizes their own firmwares.
Produce and forget policy.

I also tried to get screen mirroring to work with the wifidisplay app included in the ROM (is this also part of the original image or did you add it?).
Again, I can set up the mirroring connection between a Samsung Note 3 and the wifidisplay app, but then actual mirroring never happens. I suspect that whatever causes wifi direct not to work also causes the mirroring not to work... pity as this is would be a nice feature...

I have a strange issue related to sound settings, its because of the stock firmware issue, hope you give some pointers on this
in the sound devices settings, there is input sound device and o/p sound device. I understand abt the output sound device, but what is the use of input sound device ? and is by default always set. Is there a way to disable the i/p device ?.
I ask this bcasue, my sound bar sony will cutoff the sound to other devices if the cs968 device is switched-off, if in on/standby mode, the sound passthorough (via cs968 )for other devices i hv connected to my soundbar. My guess is that since sound input device is checked(Radio button on), sound bar thinks that it has to pass through cs968. If i unplug the hmdi cable from cs968, the soundbar wrks fine.
My guess is that somewhere in the settings xml file, there shd be a way of disabling the sound input device.
I tried decompiling settings.apk and settingsprovider.apk searched all file with sound as filecontent key, but could not find anything related to disabling of sound input device.
can you help me on this ???

Wifi Display part of firmware self, I didn't add by myself and yes it is not working properly, I've read at somewhere this application supports only Nexus devices but I'm not sure.

Disabling sound input?
As much as I know, the only sound input is internal microphone.
I real don't know the other sound inputs and als no clue about disabling it.
If you mean sound output such as Analog, Optical and HDMI then may be there is option but for input, I have no idea.

Open RootBrowser (usually opens in main directory) if not then got to Main Directory first then next to
\System\App
And long press the application which you want to remove and select Delete.
Or download a root uninstaller from market then uninstall what you want.

[Guide][nonroot] Fix AndroidQ no UI sound bugs

Since I originally wrote this I have found an even easier way that works 100% without root using Setting database editor so I've updated this guide to the better method.
as a few of us 2XL owners will know Google derped sounds on the factory image of Q and our nice charging sound has been replaced with a horrible Error sound (Google Bug tracker.)
after a few weeks of waiting & trying to fix the issue myself I have finally managed to figure it out...
turns out they're trying to access sounds from the WRONG location
UI sounds on factory Q image seem to trigger from /product/media/audio/ui but this directory only has boot animations, no audio as these files are actually located in /system/media/audio/ui
it's probably why upgrading from 9 to 10 keeps the audio settings but factory flashing doesn't.

I'm unsure why the charging sound is dictated by wireless_charging setting.

You can also change the sounds to files on your system, I've not had luck pinpointing my sdcard folder but I have been able to change Lock.ogg to Dock.ogg as a test.
(/Sdcard/download didn't work)

I'll add some notes from what I have found through tinkering
you must reboot after modifying EACH setting.
you can see the "=" is not added when changing the settings wireless_charging_started_sound=/system/media/audio/ui/ChargingStarted.ogg (wrong)

I have found an even easier way that works 100% using setedit:

Install the app open a terminal app
pm grant by4a.setedit22 android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Job done easier to edit
Out of habit I typed su to enable root before granting write permissions so if it doesn't work without enabling su try that

I've yet to have anything revert yet if it does happen I'll post, I guess you can reapply the settings? Or once they revert can they be re changed?

Thank you SOOO much! :highfive: It works on my Pixel 2. Had to reset it to factory after the December update killed my Pixel launcher app. After the reset I faced this horrible charging sound and the lack of lock sounds, too.

God this was driving me crazy on a warranty replacement Pixel 2. 3rd replacement and finally it boots and the battery is decent.
I don't know if I would have noticed but for having 2 phones side by side. After that, I couldn't un-hear it.

What about Effect_tick.ogg? Is there any way to set this custom sound?

This device is unique I spend days wake up without sleep to solve the problem of the apps and I realize something important
The problem is bad target system management by Microsoft development tools
Microsoft store is so dumb there is many helpful app but it want appear just by search
Some of the is apps "on papers" not match with your device system version but in reality you can install it and it will work
Now let me tell you it's not totally bad device if you get the exact apps on it, it will be almost like your laptop with many helpful staff
First
Check the latest updates and then you have to unlock the system so you can do some enhancements like:
Increasing Paging files from 256MB to 1GB
Transfer files via SFTP without using the USB cable
Uninstall official apps preinstalled like (Photos, Calculator..etc) -> you need this
And more..

About Dual Boot & Windows 10 ARM
You know.. I broke my phone system more than 5 times one of them it was completely dead but I was able to recover it again,
the point is if you need to try go ahead it's good to see full windows run on a phone and able to run x86 apps as well.
But
Here is few points why it's not very important
Your mobile internal storage will be filled by 70% because of the windows partition
You need a usable phone to call and send messages, it's not comfortable to switch the boot each time
Windows 10 Mobile is almost the same base of the normal Windows it just Microsoft makes it useless but I hope someone will be able to install a service to run windows apps inside it as I discovered in Windows 10 ARM, I was surprised that some of x86 apps works very well.
If you faced any problem during the installation or you need any assist let me know.

If you got a new phone usually many updates need to be installed, this will fix many problems and increase the performance.
Go to "Settings"
Update & Security
Check for update / Windows Update
if there is any update it will appear or you will see a message "Your device is up to date"
If the system need updates this will take some time, and it might be there is many update not only one so keep try until you get "Your device is up to date"
Unlock
Unlocking the system is based on your needs.
If you are using the phone for regular use you may keep it as it is.
What I was meaning with
Increasing Paging: Paging files will help to handle more applications in the background
SFTP: to transfer the data via wireless but it's totally optional you can still use the cable
Uninstall apps
If you tried to install the new version of i.e."Photos" it will not work because it's already installed.
so the solution is to remove the current app, but by default windows will not allow you to do that form the settings because it's built in.
As solution you can use "Interop Tools" by gus33000

Install / Sideload it (Check the guide below)
And go to "General"
Then Select "Applications"
Then Navigate to "Package List"
Search for the app you need to remove it.
You will see many packages related to the same app
In the bottom actions bar there is "4 lines" icon click on it to activate it.
Now select the packages you need to remove.
Click on the trash icon and wait until the app removed
Go to main screen to check if the app removed
If it's remove you can now install the new version
Note: I'm not sure if these steps works without unlocking I didn't tried before unlock, just try before to unlock it might work.
Install apps
Now Download the apps form the links and save them in custom folder.
Go to your device Settings
Select "Update & Security"
Select "For Developers"
Select "Developer Mode"
Activate "Turn on remote diagnostics"
Activate "Authentication"
Using your computer: open the browser and enter the link that appeared in the developer page in your phone
if you got security warning message ignore it and continue (it's normal)
On your phone press "Pair" Button you will see pin code
Enter this pin code in your browser page and click "Submit"
Now you can install the app called "AppInstaller" using the web page
Once you able to install "AppInstaller" you can almost install the other apps from you mobile directly.
Note your device and computer need to be on the same network
OSM Mapping
to be honest I never used it before so I will do some search about it.
If I got anything new will let you know.
I wish most of the descriptions is clear, if you need extra details please let me know.

I thought I had read somewhere that you can control how the flash functions(eg if all three flashes ar used or just one or two of them) I even thought I saw the setting.. But for the life of me I can't find out how to achieve this... Could someone point me in the right direction!!!!

This version requires downloading the extensions after logging in to insidewindows.net because there is no General - Applications option in the menu by default.
Have you tried the open source Interop Tools v1 Version 2.1.7.0 made by @gus33000?

Increase the paging file (required unlocked device):
Open Interop Tools
Go to "Registry"
Select "Registry browser"
Select "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (HKLM)"
Select "System"
Select "CurrentControlSet"
Select "Control"
Select "Session Manager"
Select "Memory Management"
Select "Paging File"
Now In "Registry Value Data" Change The numbers from 256 to 1024
The final value will be "u:\pagefiles.sys 1024 1024"
Click on the "right icon at the bottom" to save the result
To check if the result saved just reopen the "Paging File" again, If the result back to the original "256" maybe your device is not unlocked yet.
Reboot the device to apply the changes.
Change Screen timeout:
Open Interop Tools
Go to "Registry"
Select "Registry browser"
Select "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (HKLM)"
Select "Software"
Select "Microsoft"
Select "Settings"
Select "Lock"
Select "DisableNever"
Set "Registry Value Data" to 0
Then go to settings and check "Never" will be available now with some extra values.

To be able to edit some of the protected registry values you need to do "Interop Unlock"
"Interop Unlock" will allow you to do almost everything you need.
Don't activate "Full Filesystem Access" In "Unlock" -> "Interop Unlock" it will not work with Lumia 950/XL and it might affect on the usb connection.
If you didn't find a clear guide for "Interop Unlock" let me know I will write a full guide based on my experiment because some of the details online line is very clear.

I have read that the FM radio is not activated on the 950xl, is this correct is so how do I reactivate it?
also is there away to have a bigger tile other than the three choices we have?

The radio is working by default, try this app (almost the best you could find)

Sadly the tiles sizes are fixed as I know, if you want to add some design to the start page you can use this app
Group Tiles
and this app if you want to add custom tiles based on your needs

Thank you for that... and radio works great... Have to say am loving the 950xl.... only thing I am really missing is a good off route navigation/mapping app if I could find a good one then everything would be nearly perfect.
also is there away to install the original lumia camera app so we can get flash control(number of flashes used ) back?
finally how do I gain full access to the file system on the device???

It should work, ignore the compatible message just check the following:
the apps updated including "Microsoft Store" from "Menu" -> "Donwloads and updates"
there is no remaining system updates "Settings" -> "Windows update"
check if there is a "Get" button sometimes it's appear even of there is a compatibility message, click on the button if you found it.
If nothing above worked do the following:
Go to your PC
Be sure you are using the same email/account in both "Phone/PC"
Open the browser and be sure you are logged to your account/email
Open the link of the app
click on "Get"
a message will appear "you own this app"
once you get this message go back to your phone
Open Microsoft store -> Menu
Select "My Library"
Check if the app is there (you can sort the library by name which is better)
Click "Install" behind the app icon
The problem is some of the apps does not appear in Phone store but it will appear in PC store
so this trick will help you to get many apps in the same way,
but I think it will work only with the browser not the desktop app.

As per my experiments, gain the full access to the file system is not a big deal.
the files are protected anyway and some of the important folders assigned to custom users you can't have access, even if you was able to force replace the ownership of the folder and open it.. it will cause some issues with the system.
if you have something really important in the future it's better to use Mass Storage Mode, but accessing the file system while windows is running almost useless.
just don't use the feature in "Interop Tools" which called "Full Filesystem Access" I tried it before and it caused a problem with the connection with the computer I wasn't able to access the storage

Trying to install this, Used durect method(filemanager) portal and interop. but always fails after installing net packages say a prerequisite for an install could not be satisfied... any ideas how to oover come this?
