i want to root my xperia x10 and try cyanogen or Miui.. but can any one plz help me giving some information on the following:
-- can we get updates from sony after rooting your phone..????
-- Does the sony block access to their updates when you have rooted the phone???
PLzzz, some one help me ...and give me an answr
Yes, your rooted phone will still be able to receive updates from Sony.
to my surprise, my pc companion can even detect my x10 and says that i've got the latest firmware lol :O)
You can still use SEUS and pc companion with a custom rom too, have had to reflash generic 2.1.1 a few times now lol

Try first using flashtool from x10 development section. Its a computer program. Their should b a how to guide built in the flashtool post to help u. Post back if your still stumped after u attempted flashtool.

Hi! I put jerplea custom kernel into CM 6.1.3 via xrecovery, when i reboot the system doesn't work! i try to enter in xrecovery but it doesn't work!! how can i repair my x10??
thx in advance
Dario
Hook up the phone to the pc to the sonu ericsson software called seus. Hit the repair option.
If that doesnt work, try flashtool which is a pc program too which is in the x10 android development section. There r howto guides in there if u dont know how to use it. Flash the firmware with the baseband u want for the compatible ROMS want to run on the phone.
After thay u have to reroot the phone. Sorry about this but u gotta start over.

I'm going to copy and paste this reply to everyone who messes up their phone with a custom kernel. We are going to get LOTS of these kind of threads soon...
There are already a lot of ppl complaining that they "broke" their phone and dont know the reason, because they are to "lazy" to read the OP for installing custum ROMS and kernals.
Agreed, reflash with SEUS, I had to do that twice, when I was noob.

ok fires you must be to back to the original software 2.1
step 1
download Sony Ericsson updater
after download set up in your pc
step 2
connect the usb cable in your pc
step 3
open the sony ericsson softwer update and choos x10 phone and next
step 4
now turn off your phone
step 5
connect you phone and Click on the button right
now turn on your phone
You will notice that the computer knows the phone a new way
After the piece
You will notice that the program moved to the next step and descends Software
This step will take approximately 10 minutes
I am sorry for bad English
i am not trying to be a smartass here, but ppl should really read OP more carefull. you cant go wrong if you backup everything in xrecovery before aplying new update or rom. i tried several of the new custom roms and they worked all. just stick to instructions and everything will be fine
Just connected my x10 to pc and told me I had to update the companion does this mean its getting ready for the Gingerbread update thoughts
No, it doesn't mean that. I think it's just some bugfixes, performance updates etc...

i have an r800i that i have sucessfully rooted and unlocked the bootloader but in doing so i have downgraded my firmware to 2.3.2 from 2.3.3 when i connect my phone to the computer my pc companion automatically picks up a software update . if i update my phone to 2.3.4 via pc coompanion will this affect my root at all and can it potentially brick my phone please help
There is a chance (a pretty big one) that it will brick your phone, but could be recovered.
To get to the new update, search Firmware 4.0.A world etc and download Flash tool 2.9.1. Look around in XDA development for play section
Drag the firmware (4. 0). To firmware folder in the flashtool. Go to drivers and install ggaetup22. Click ok (files from google drivers required, you should've kept the files you had from unlocking bootloader.
OK once that's done click on X10 flashtool, click flash, highlight all . sins from the firmware, then do what the flashtool says.
You will not lose your root.

thanks for the help my man glad somebody could be a help also do you know of any tested and working kernels and cooked roms that can be installed on the phone without losing any of the functionalitys
If you successfully unlocked your bootloader then it is a better to just flash the newest modded rom with root included already. Do Not update when your bootloader is unlocked...

Before I can reinstall/repair firmware but right now it doesn't anymore. why? is there a way to fix it?

But before I rooted and unlocked bootloader and install custom roms, i can repair it via PC COmpanion or SEUS but now it doesnt. All it says is that theres no update available. before I can reinstall now I cant
dam. SE removed the repair function. i think they want us all to void the warranty of our W8 and X8. with this move from S.E.. they want more user to hate them. another f****** software support again.
Use flashtool

since you have the backup, if i am not wrong you can put it back via xRecovery
What I did is flash it using wotanclient server to restore W8 back to its original state without xrec or CWM. Back to unrooted and stock W8 Kernel(Not E15i stock)
Same thing happened to me last night fixed it my self....
