Hey guys, I appreciate all the work you have done on the manilla app. I am having a couple of issues though and am wondering if anyone knows what I can do. Everything was working perfectly on my i760, but all of a sudden I can no longer add contacts to the contacts screen, programs to the program screen, and if I hit the Sync Data, Wallpaper, Sounds or about buttons on the settings tab nothing happens either. I really would like this to work out since I loved using it for a few days while it was working, but now I can't do things that are essential to this app. I realize this is a beta, but is there anything that you guys may know of that I can do to get this back up and running correctly? Thanks in advance guys.
same experience
I have had the same experience running m2d on a iphone clone wm6 device (m88) ......lost count of the number of times I have wiped it all and started fresh : but ive got about 85% of this thing working .......what is essential is to go one step at a time......reset between each step ......even when you load m2d and the md2 patch for non htc devices (even though I read somewhere to load the two contiguously) ....then 1 app at a time ......still cant get the audiomanager to work or the photo/ camera app .....just renoved them with the m2dconfig app ......
I tried this many times and got into the "loaded one too many apps mode" ...things stopped working and I had to start fresh again .......be patient
I just tried this today on my Nexus one and it seems to be finally working.
Anyone else having success with their phones?

I haven't been able to get it to work (create / update a wave) on any android browser until today.
I think I tried it yesterday and it wasn't working so they must have updated something today.
I'ts nice when you cursor over the blips you get the nice reply or insert graphic.
It doesn't seem like the multimedia inserting is working yet though unless someone has found a way to do this.
Doubt it will allow it since the android browser doesnt allow uploading.
So Far:
Playback is working
Gadgets crash the browser
Other Character sets work (Chinese, etc.)
Your picture does not show correctly but other peoples seem to look OK
Waves with a lot of blips seem to take a long time to load
Hello Everyone,
Im using HTC Desire with AuraxTsense 8.1.1 and ive seen a few roms with the core android contacts app. I tried using mybackup pro to back this app up and install it but it says "application not installed". Do i need to download a .zip and use recovery to install this? where could i get those files from either an .apk or a .zip.
Thanks for any help guys.
i believe the contacts is two apks contacts and contactsprovider. And you cannot get them into a sense rom by merely installing it, theres some wierd issue with it if u try to replace the senseui's contacts with it...
I know what you mean with wanting this, but if you're willing, try a different rom to see what you like at the same time? Something AOSP built. If you search there are ways to adb push the stock contact app which is what you want, but that includes the dialer which you also need if you want the contacts.
If you're willing to experiment, try a different rom. I was on AuraxTSense 8.1.1 also, but the battery drain was totally annoying. So I went to Oxygen and I haven't looked back (and has the contact app which you want). Done 18 hours on my phone today with relatively standard usage and, went down to 32%, amazing tbh.

You can try to flash the "Android_Contacts.zip" file that is found on the mini-site I built for LeeDrOiD's ROMs. I have done so in the past (flashed through recovery) and both the HTC People AND stock Android Contacts seem to co-exist in perfect harmony It simply asks you which you'd like to launch when tapping the "Phone" button for example.
Of course it would be wise to perform a Nandroid backup first just for safety's sake!
Sense should allow all that harmonies in AOSP rom too. why dont they~~
Thanks for all the replys. im gona go try that website now!! ill post how i get on.
ok tried that but just got a load of force close messages before i could even start up the app. is there any .apk on the marketplace that would do this, or even a similar app. I know you can get it on sense cause i had it on one of the sense roms that i use. I just like AuraxTsense because of the power control in the notification area.
well actually i dont understand why do you want the android dialer? Sense dialer is what people want. Well at least i want it it, want it so much but sad it cant be used on AOSP roms.
Cause i love having to click a phone app and having my dialer/contacts/recent calls all in one app and just tabbed on the top. I dont care if its the android dialer but this is the best one ive seen laid out for what i want. Is it possible to get the samsung one or a similar app?
Ricochet I totally agree on that. The standard Android dialer app is way more functional and looks nicer too IMHO. Only thing missing is T9 search. I used Dialer One from the market when I wasnt rooted, however found it to be less snappy then a standard app.

I tried that and it somewhat worked. The dialer comes up but the contacts aren't there. The favorites and call logs are populated though. I'm using an HD rom though so I'm not sure it's the same (RCmixHD)
Tust found "TouchPal Smart Dialer" in the market. The main screen is a mix of HTC with Android Contacts tabs at the top. Gonna try this out to test functionality, but the layout is awesome!
Thanks man, that app is exactly what i wanted.
Holla,
What is the advantage of using more recent versions of Android compared to older ones? I have a HD2 with Android 2.2.1, is there any purpose to update it with Gingerbread?
Warmest regards from a stoked HD2 user.
To be honest, I found very little difference with Gingerbread. I did end up going back to a Froyo build though because there were a number of apps that didn't work with Gingerbread, or they did but not fully.
I liked the keyboard and the notification bar, but that was about it. Let's face it, they can be changed anyway!
I think the only real difference I've seen is the text editing where you can select text more easily. Other than that, it's just personal preference. I'm sticking with it though

EXT4 file system? newer modem?

The differences between froyo and gingerbread are minimal. if you are such a fanatic (like me) who want to have the best of the best, you should updated. Otherwise it would be better to keep froyo on your phone, because its faster (300 or more points more in quadrant) and all apps work with froyo. gb is a lil bit unstable (however) and 40% of all apps won' work with gb. the new keyboard looks better but it's annoying to have so small buttons on this keyboard with such a big screen. i don't use the stock keyboard and notification bar is not as amazing as people say. believe me, kepp up froyo for maybe 2 months and then you can think about changing ^^
Thanks
Thanks dudes for all the feedback! Guess I will stay with my setup I have, I thought games and graphics ran smoother with a new release.
Cheers,
Mike
I haven't encountered a single app that is incompatible. Which apps are you guys referring to?

I had a few that didn't work, but couldn't tell you now what they are other than 1 for sure.
I use SwitchPro (very configurable power widget) and half of the toggles stopped working. For example, if I clicked the GPS toggle it did nothing. At first I thought it was because GPS didn't work on the build I was using, but if I went into settings I could turn it on there without a problem, and it worked fine.
Like I said, there were a few apps I noticed wouldn't work, but that's the only one I can remember.

I know one that doesn't fully work. it's AirSync DoubleTwist its not compatible with GB yet, it gives you "Network Error" when you try to connect wirelessly. But when I switched back to Froyo it works again.

I think the browser on gingerbread is faster and more responsive compared to froyo in opening pages and all that stuff

Move it to your phone
Settings / applications / manage apps / click on angry birds / move to phone
I find some other apps do the same, usually one's with Widgets keep them on your phone and you should have no problems
gingerbread is smooth & fast, and compatibility is accepted

It works, thanks!! I have a question: is any app or system settings to my HD2, who's give me a capability to run games from sd card ?
I'm gonna wait until there's more app compatibility, as right now I don't really see any big reasons to switch yet. I also don't 100% trust ext4 yet, as I've encountered the known issues with large files on my Ubuntu server(which may just be due to Ubuntu implementation). I doubt it would crop up on the HD2, but still...
Gingerbread 2 major chances are :
OpenGL ES2.0 (not backwork compatible with 1.1)
Built in SIP client (Enterprise usage)
other than those two, the rest are fixes.
i have the same prob as miod3k... do i hav to shift the apps to phone for it to work...i mean my other apps lik palringo n facebook n stuff lik that r in the sd card...
When I run Android on my Leo the battery was discharge very fast(about 8 hours). Do you now what the problem is ?
Since the installation of android 2.3.3 on my I9000
Snap N Go Fails..
it connects with my PC then the camera goes on
it stays on for couple sec then the application closes
without a FC warning
Is Snap and Go compatible with BETA 2.3 ???
jje
i dont know...mate
maybe it is the camera bug or something that makes it close
I can also confirm that I get the exact same reaction since 2.3.3 upgrade for SGS. (Upgrade from cell phone carrier). Its a big shame because Snap N Go was/is a terrific app. Have read on net that others have same problem. Also have lost daily briefing app.
Please HELP!
i even cant find it in samsung apps!

Yes I notice it's not there anymore too.
Same issue on the same configuration, you are not alone !
same problem
come on developer type people
this is a briliant, just briliant app... and i want it back
won't anyone help?
what's about solution?
Wow tried it and this happens to me too.
Lame Snap N Go was a great easy way to transfer files between computers without the hassle of using a samba share. (It even worked without a wifi network around, just connect the laptop to mobile AP.)
I wonder if we can get a log that will give insight into the problem?
It just doesn't work on Gingerbread apparently..
Also, samsung's taken it off of "Samsung Apps"..
Such an amazing app, its so less known!
Can't any developer help here? Please!
"apk" and the "desktop-application" file are both still available on the net,
and i strongly believe its just a minor bug(with the new camera) that's the problem, as the app runs fine(connects with desktop client and all) till the camera tries to load up
