Location of music folder??? - Atrix 4G General

Using Root Eplorer to find my music folder to no avail, trying to make a backup copy of my music to store in the external sd card. Any help is appreciated.

Seriously???
Is there that many folders in your memory??
/mnt/sdcard/mobile/music

What music folder? The music is wherever you put it.

there is a noob on the loose. Stay inside and keep all doors locked.
Noob level is 10/10
(If noob wanted noob could check each folder, or search the memory card with a computer, but noob is to much of a noob to do that)

DiskUsage visualizes your folder tree by how much data is in each folder. A music folder should be a sizable chunk of data and would point itself out quickly with this app.

it doesnt come with a music folder by default, you create it yourself. so if there isnt one, that means you never made one. then it comes down to if you did not make a music folder, then where did you put all your music to begin with?

But that's located in the device folders..I was hoping to have my own folders in my SD Card. Is that possible?
you will kick yourself, but here goes.
in the root of your sd card create a folder called......... my ringtones
the down side is that the folder will be indexed by the music player.

Use Astro File Manager, or better yet Root Explorer if you're rooted. My Files is extremely basic.
Downloaded astro. Found the files but feel stupid because it ended up being in dcim on the sd card. Thank you very much for your help.
There's just one more issue,i tried copying a file from the sd card into the font folder of the phone but it wouldn't let me.any idea why?

You need root access to do that, and Root Explorer, because RE uses Superuser and Astro does not.

[Q] can music downloads be moved

i have 3 different music downloaders, i am trying to clean my sd card. Can i move all 3 music download files to just one file folder??? also, i have NAND Android installed on my hd2, but some folders called .android_secure, android and application Data. Do i need these files stored on my sd card?
Yes, you need your app data and android.secure folders. If you delete them, either some apps will lose data or not work, or the folders will be recreated anyways, or both.
You can move your music downloads into another folder, but your music downloading apps will likely recreate the deleted folders and put your new music downloads in them again.
Personally, I download all my music from fetchmp3(dot)com thru the browser, and they download to the 'download' folder. Then I rename them and move them to a folder named 'Music' on the root of my card.
I prefer all my songs to be in one folder, since I use TinyPlayer and it doesn't scan the card for audio tracks, it's directory based so I have it set to my 'Music' folder (so much better than having to deal with a playlist littered with ringtones and system sounds)

yeah, my music player does play my notification/ring-tones, Why is that?
Its because it scans the entire phone/sd card for audio files. Theres ways to 'hide' ringtones and system sounds from it, but its a pain. Thats why I just use TinyPlayer.

Internal Memory

I am trying to create a folder on internal memory of my phone, but every time i do it disappear. Can this be done?
I dont think you can do that to be honest.
It is possible if you got root.

As root i can but after a reboot is gone
I'll bet money you are still s-on. If the security flag is on then any user defined changes to the internal flash will be temporary only and disappear on reboot.

Correct, I can do as normal after root. Used File Expert
I have S-OFF
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537&highlight=guide
Here's what you need to do! I used Root Explorer, but you can use any program which has similar features. Note I have S-Off and all that
Mount the Root of the phone as (R/W) Which means Read/Write. This lets you change files, modify, delete etc. What I did was I wanted to copy some music as a backup to my internal, so if I ever forgot my memory card at home, i'd have my favourite music on my phone! Anyways, I went to System/Media/Audio and made a new folder in there called Music. You don't have to do this, but I don't want files going all over the place around that area, can get messy
So I copied my music into that folder, around 500mb worth XD!
Then I set the Mount status to (RO) Read Only.
I took my memory card out, and put it in a safe place...those things can get lost in a sec XD
Back to the topic, I loaded up Music Player, and nope, no music shows...it's designed to read music from the SD Card only.
I loaded up Poweramp, and navigated to the folder in which I stored my music in! Voila, it read them! I even created a playlist called "No SDCARD" So I know what it's for Try it, the files won't disappear after you reboot. Handy if you wanna keep certain files safe.
WARNING: If you install a new rom, the files get deleted, since it's the system that gets formatted! So you have to do it all over again...not S-OFF, just copying the files Haha doesn't take long though!
Hope I helped
trying root your device, you will have everything!good luck

SGS2 not reading music on sd card

Whatever I do the music app or any for that matter, just doesn't read the music off the SD card. Dunno what else to do. Tried formatting the card and naming the folder "Music", still no success. I'm not rooted, only got my phone about a month ago and exchanged it already but still the same problem. Does anybody else have the same problem? How can I fix it? Cheers
Are other apps able to pick up your music?

right dude, copied some songs on to sd root and it worked (finally!!!) but would prefer to have all the music in a folder. so when you say media folder what exactly do you mean? renamed my music folder to both "Music" and "Media" and it didn't pick up any of them. Any idea how to get it to read my folder music?

Does your folder either have a period at the beginning of its name, or does it contain a file named ".nomedia"?
Android will ignore any music/image/video files in a folder that has a period at it's start (like ".Music"), or any folder that contains a file named ".nomedia". (and any sub-folder it may contain)
Dude ur a genius!!! That ".nomedia" bastard of a file was in there. Cheers man
