Sorry bout the spelling on title, should be survey.. haha.. couldn't edit the title after posting.. noooooooooeeeezzzzz... but anyways..
Ok, I got this email from Motorola & Head Research.. anyone else get this email asking them for their opinion on the Atrix??
Why am I receiving this email?
We are conducting an important research study with users of the Motorola Atrix smartphone.
If you qualify, upon completion of your telephone interview we will send you $100!
We have hired Head Research and GfK, independent professional marketing research firms, to recruit and interview people about their experiences with the Motorola Atrix smartphone. Didn't receive one here, but if I had, I would have no problem telling them what I really think about their locked bootloader policy, design flaws, etc.

100 bucks for an hour survey... I'd be all over that! ;p

unfortunatly, alot of people must of wanted to tell them what they thought of the Atrix, as I did the quick questions, and they stated that they already reached their quota for the survey..
out of $100, awwww man!!.. haha..

got that yesterday, tried to get in, but as soon as i said i didn't have the laptop dock they said "thanks we're full".

Samsung did the same when I bought my Galaxy S, they even called me up for some more details about my answers.
And got the $ 6 weeks later

Dear Moto,
this is how you should be running your cellphone bizness:
unlock the damn bootloader
let them have the kernel source
the devs are willing to fix the mess you created with the blur crap
if you need to save money somewhere then fire the whole team that does blur, AND the guy that decided to lock up the bootloader / kernel
go ahead and make like 1 phone that runs win phone 7 so microsoft doesnt come after you a55
I guarentee you this will work, and don't forget to give me a job after.

Per my answers, they stated they reached their quota.. hopefully you can get in, maybe they didn't like that I didn't buy the laptop dock, as that was one of their questions, if I had the laptop dock..

Yeah right, I'm sure they just want feedback from people who are actually getting the "full" experience this phone can offer via the laptop dock. But for the people who just wanted a really good phone they don't care to hear about it. Makes me wonder, is there anyone with the "tethering" package getting capped as well? I don't remember anyone specifically pointing that out....

I also got this email, but got it on March 18th. Signed up right away but havent heard anything bacck yet.

Anybody else playing t-mobile's trivia game?

...the game is impossible to play. they have you on a timer but sometimes the text messages don't go through, the 4444 service number is down, or the phone double posts numbers lol. pretty fail imo.

I was playing and it worked fine with the exception of once or twice in two games where it said this service was unavailable.
Then I actually read the rules and saw this:
T-Mobile USA customers in the following states and U.S. territory are not eligible to win: Vermont, Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Montana, Iowa, Louisiana, Nebraska and Puerto Rico.
I can play but I'm not eligible to win

I've never gotten any text for this...lame.

what was your highest score? i got 44 and misread a stupidly easy question: what country is shaped like a boot. Due to my tricked out font, I read that as "boat".

Think I got a little over 44, the first question I got wrong was:
"What would be harder to carry?"
10 US Gallons
10 UK Gallons
10 Liters
I knew it wasn't the third one and I assumed that the UK used the metric system and thought the 2nd one was a trick question, but it turns out the Imperial gallon is bigger than the US gallon.
2nd time around, I got around 20 and I responded to a question and didn't get another text, so I resent my answer and after that one I got the next question and a message proceeding that next question telling me the answer I submitted was wrong lol.

LOL that's what I'm talking about... t-mobile blunders.
First time I sent out an answer and waited 10 minutes with no reply so i sent it again and it's like "congradulations! you have 46 minutes left!" Second time I sent it it didn't reply right away so I sent it again and it took it as double. Third time was just double-messaging, where I sent an answer once and it's like "you are correct!" followed by "sorry wrong answer!" I'm like goddammit come on I only answered once!
it's a fun game but I can imagine they're gonna get a lot of negative feedback on it. It didn't do anything for me but make me realize t-mobile's network really really sucks.

I like how one of the questions literally has no correct answer - or so it seems. You have to guess. (The one about McGuigan)

OMFG they take so long to reply back with the answer.

There is a significant difference between trivial information and NON-EXISTENT information. There is NOT a movie about the career of Barry McGuigan. There IS a movie about an Irish IRA guy who also happens to box on the side. There only exists a movie about Barry McGuigan's career in the minds of whoever made the trivia questions for T-Mobile.

They were The Champ, The Boxer, and The One. None are correct but the Boxer is about an Irish guy so the geniuses at T-Mobile thought that was it.

I too recieved the "temporarily unavailable" message. I just waited a few and resent it and BOOM! good to go. 5 right answers in a ROW baby!

you're insane to pay money to skip questions or get a hint. i'd be livid if i spent say $6-7 to skip or hint and i get a question wrong because the phone double-texts. :\

Today I found a brand new SGS2 on a supermarket and I took it
So I was wondering if they can track me down by GPS or something like that, if they lock the phone what's the worst that can happen ?
By the way before you judge me I didn't steal anything, like I said I found it.

If I were you I would see a lawyer and discuss this. In Germany you wouldn't have stolen it but would've been guilty of "Fundunterschlagung" which is also a crime and can and will be punished.
Tracking a phone is not that hard, there's the IMEI for example. In the very moment you use a sim card your carrier will know the IMEI of your device. So if the owner of the device reports this the police definitely can track down this very phone.
In addition you should never forget that most supermarkets have cameras.
I guess I will save you and me a discussion about the moral implications of such a behaviour.

The answer is yes. This was not abandoned property. imho, You have a moral obligation and perhaps a legal obligation to return the phone.

You should have given it to the supermarket customer service or manager or even hand it into a police station, im assuming it wasn't on when you found it (otherwise the owner would no doubt try and call the phone to see if anyone had it)

This thread makes me sad...if i lost my phone id cry and hope that the person that found it would have the decency to answer my frantic calls or hand it in to have it returned to me. Do the decent thing.

Seriously? If they find out you did that then you may well lose your job. As an employee your actions are not seen in the same light as a customer.
Look at the call log and call someone who's on there frequently. Tell them you have the phone and arrange to get it back to the owner. You'll make someone very happy and you'll save yourself a potentially large amount of trouble

Of course return it. Not only you feel good when you see the owner's face thanking you and being re united with their handset but also you might get a little reward...But that is not the point you should of just gave it to your supervisor as that would of been the decent thing to do...

CWM 5 issue

Be a nice guy and just try to track down the owner. Just check which Google account the phone syncs with and fire up an email.
If you've switched your own SIM into the phone, it's very likely the phone has sent a text message to a number the owner set up the moment you fired it back up. It's also fairly easy to track the phone via GPS, check call logs and wipe the phone remotely. The service provider can also track IMEI numbers on phones registered on their network.
More importantly, make the real owners day and let the poor guy have his precious phone back!

True story. I received one of those "you've won an ipad" ads in an app I was using during the summer. I clicked on it, and like you experienced, I was directed to a browser which asked me to enter my cell number. Instead of doing that, I emailed the company and asked if I could speak with someone about claiming my prize. An hour later and a few email/phone calls later, I was told an iPad was on the way. Two business days later, purolator showed up and delivered me a new iPad 2 I never view those ads as scams anymore ;-)

If you're telling me that an advertisement popped up on your tablet saying "You have won a free iPad", and then you proceeded to somehow attain a number to the "company" behind the advertisement which in turn shipped you a new iPad with completely no strings attached then there is nothing you can say or show me that will convince me that it actually happened.

I've got lots of proof, what do you want to see? I put my testimonial and provided a link.
Basically, the ad was at the bottom of the app, it didn't "pop up". It clearly said that I had WON, not "you have a chance to win", so I felt that I could certainly pressure them with a threat to report them and to my surprise, I received an email with a phone number I could call to speak with someone. I was congratulated, I had to fill out the "testimonial" and that was it - the lady gave me a tracking number via email and a few business days later, I was an ipad owner.
I'm still telling this story everywhere I go, because I would have NEVER thought that these ads could be legit. The key was that it said "you won"... most ads don't say that, they say "enter to win" or some other bs. In fact, my father came across a banner ad that said "guaranteed winner", so I called them up and refused to fill out anything online. I did "win", but it was a crappy gift certificate for some travel auction, so that was a bust! LOL
EDIT: I have a screenshot of the ad, as I collected a lot of evidence before contacting the company. The link that I clicked on redirects to a REAL scam site now! LOL

I don't have good health and am currently suffering from degenerative disc disease which is robbing me of everything. This has nothing to do with whether I win stuff or not.

I never took what you said as disrespect at all. Winning something like this is pretty amazing - it certainly helped take my mind off some of my troubles, and still (after many months of having it), I think it's a fluke that I actually got this ipad.
I say turn off all your ad-blocking software for a week and if you see anything that states that you HAVE WON (it must say that you've won, not that you have a chance of winning), call up the company and ask how you can get your prize You might have to be persistent with some of them as they often expect you to be a "client", but insist that you want your prize without any catches. Make sure you take screen shots of the ad and the page it takes you to as well as noting the URL address.
I was trying to get another company to send me an I pad that I had "won", but they were in germany and threatening to report them for fraud didn't phase them at all...

Safe way of getting a 6P outside of the US ?

Hey,
Okay, so I've been using the Galaxy S2 for god knows how long and I really need to move on.. and also the fact that its battery is dying for the third time... that helped me to take the decision to go with the 6P.
There's just a major problem, I'm neither from US nor Europe... and I don't wanna pay 200$ or 300$ extra just to get it.. because the only reason i'm buying it is it has a great value in its current price..
I have seen a few nice forwarding sites, like fishisfast and usgobuy and they do look promising... I can buy from the Google Store and ship to my country and that would only cost me about 50 bucks more.. which is great...
My only concern is defective units... I've seen so many complaints on the forums here about defective units starting from the slight pink screen to speakers and the list goes on... and I'm afraid that If I receive a defective unit i won't be able to get a replacement...
is there's any safe way of getting the 6P without compromising warranty or paying like 200 extra bucks

I'm not sure about your situation but wanted to tell you if you reply to your own post with the word bump it will get moved to the top and people will see it. You don't have to keep starting threads. Just a friendly FYI.

I got mine via a company that ships from the USA and I'm all the way in Zambia, why now try expansys.com they shipped to Zambia before so i don't see why they wouldn't to Eygpt

From a returns standpoint I'd easily prefer the Google Store. However, I'm not sure how that applies (or doesn't) to your current situation & questions.

Ugh, I'm sick of this, I've always wanted to buy a Nexus.. Starting from the Nexus 4, to the 5 and then 6P... and I never did.. Why google makes them that damn hard to get anywhere else on the world !!
I think I'm gonna wait till Amazon start selling them officially.. That's probably gonna be the best in returns standpoint..

Okay, No Nexus for me then... I am buying the HTC M8.. It does have a pretty active dev community.... Definitely not as good as the 6P.. But it's currently for half its price...
