DOES **GPS** Work On Hermes?

I have a cingular 8525, and theres people talking about loading tomtom to there 8525, is the GPS function working on it? seems like there is drivers on here for it? and people trying to get it to work? Anyone can give me any info without me going over 70 pages of peoples comments?

Come on man, just read the last few posts out of the GPS threads and you will know. It does not work yet, the software is there (supposedly) what is needed now is an antenna.

If you're not willing to familiarize yourself with the GPS threads, then please just go out and buy a bluetooth GPS and save everyone some time.

If you can't be bothered to read the threads than any attempt you make at enabling gps is likely to result in a brick. So why bother ask?

I think this is a great question as I have been a member of xda for a while now and I don't feel like reading through all 70 pages either simple question why not answer the question without making him feel like a d!ck not working yet man when it does work it will be added to the stickys

Gentlemen please. You know what I like about XDA-Dev, compared to some other places, is the generally very helpful and polite manner of the posters. Sometimes something can really wind us up and showing a bit of irritation is fine but now we've shown that let's think how we avoid this problem in future.
Firstly if there is already a thread on a subject it should be used to post a relevant question. So a question about GPS should not be in a new thread like this one.
Secondly, I agree with the above poster who said - you only need to read through the last few posts , not all 70 pages, to know roughly what is happening.
Thirdly, you may get away with far more slightly cheeky things if you ask politely and with a measure of humour.
Lastly, as someone above said sometimes it's just easier and more peaceful to give a very short answer to a "cheeky" question whilst perhaps also pointing out that next time the person might do a bit more work to get the answer.

I can manage to Flash my arse - if that's any help?? Last time I did it though someone gave me a boot up it which made me **** a brick. So I guess you might say I got stuck in bootloader mode and ended up with a brick!!!???

Each forum has its own grounds for topics. So if someone wanted to know about the Tilt case, they would have to ask in the Tilt Accessories forum, or the General Accessories forum. We all just like to see some sort of orginization around here. Which are the reasons for certain threads, like the two stickys here in Development & Hacking. BTW this thread will probably be closed soon. I suggest not posting anymore new threads like this, you may get a temp ban.

Perhaps your post is *not* in the correct forum, but I do agree with you. Not on, say, the Tilt case... But I have noticed that there really has been nothing REALLY new as of since what wm 6.0? I mean SPB shell and iFonz, and and others I haven't tried *ARE* good apps, and need updates posted, but as for something totally phonechanging, (like I was hoping for the ati 3D driver for my hermes) you probably just aren't going to see it. Also I appreciate your sarcasmic humour! Nice at 4:15 AM coming into work. hehe
BTW temp ban? Thats a little harsh isn't it?

You want to unleash something ground breaking? I don't see you developing anything new and improved. So what if most posts are updating other programs.
And to the OP stop capitalizing the first letter of every word, it fkin hurts my eyes.

I've offered plenty of times to help out some of my device's main cooks with rom application development but no one has ever taken me up. I'm now a 30 year old father of a 2 year old. I've already developed a complete freeware software application for car computers called MediaEngine (.org) and I just don't have it in me anymore to create something from the ground up. If anyone wants a freelance VB programmer to look at their code and come up with improvements though, hey I'm all for it. Also, I did state that current programs need posts with their updates.
BTW I'm not meaning to complain, I just long for the experience I had when I first installed a ROM and upgraded my phone from boring to wow.

Point taken, but I didn't close this thread and I did like the title. You just have to consider the amount of threads that are opened which aren't required and being one of the only mods that deals with the HD forums it can eventually take some of the humour out of you. Funny how you didn't actually post your call durations though ??

I understand that you have a need to "keep things tidy" round here and I'm glad you took my post in the spirit it was intended.
My HD is currently winging its way to HTC for repair - I've got my fingers, toes, and bum cheeks crossed that they fix my digitizer (newton rings) and vol up button's cracked plastic. Both are faults that HTC can't seem to make their mind up as to whether they are warranty repairs or not, but hopefully Carphone Warehouse will carry some clout with them as I sent it through them.
I'll post my call times when I get it back, if the thread's still open!
My incoming will trump my outgoing as I am permanently on call, and have no mates to phone up.

We get it we all have gps problem and want 2.2 to fix problems, but this damn posting every two minutes about it is getting old fast. Lets all just shut up untill samsung says their announcement this week. K Thanks

I saw this thread bumped and I thought maybe someone had downloaded the 2.2 update,
My GPS works great with JI5

Quite honestly the solution to this is really quite easy. All the mods have to do is put a sticky at the top of this section saying: "All thing's Froyo related, rumours, etc, post here". Problem solved. Don't know why they haven't done it yet.

OTA update fixes the GPS.
OTA for Froyo breaks the GPS again.
LMFAO.. yes come on that would be... classic!

Gps works good for me on ji6, 10 seconds locks everyone.... Also I am running froyo.....

The best benchmark testing is your sense. If it feels good for you then all is good, no need for a benchmark test on the phone. Or it does make you happy to see a score of xxxxxxxxx when the phone feels slugish?

That's all that matters!
Quadrant scores are cool to show off but should not be considered a way of deciding whether a ROM is smooth or not.
