I am having trouble trying to access my home laptop via my MDA.
Under my work network I created a new connection,
Name: Laptop
Host name/ IP: specified my IP (Tried with computer name before)
VPN type: What do i select here L2TP or PPTP
When I click next I am asked to enter username and password (I guess this is the username for my laptop). I have not touched the default settings under the advanced section.
Use server-assigned IP address was selected by default.
When i try to connect after i while i get the message, unable to connect check username and password.
Please advise what I am doing wrong. Thanks for your help in advance.
To use the Terminal Services Client its under programs. Then you enter the external IP address of your laptop and it should connect if your laptop/router at home is configured correctly.
1. Enable Remote Desktop Connection
2. Forward the port 3389 to your laptops IP (Done in your rourter)
3. Launch Terminal Services and enter your home network's IP address or dns name.
Greetings all, new user here with a TyTN issue.
I have a TyTN I am having trouble to send/receive POP3 mail while connected to Wi-Fi network with proxy server. I have searched web for solution but did not find anything specific, I hope someone can point me to the right direction here.
This issue only happens when I am connected to my work network. With my current setting I can browse web with IE but not send/receive POP3 mail. I receive following error message "Messages can not be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again.".
My wireless network configuration are
all default except "Connects to:", which is set to Work instead of The Internet.
My proxy settings are
"This network connects to the Internet" - checked
"This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" - checked
Under Advanced, HTTP proxy's port changed to 8080, Socks proxy port changed to 8080 with sock 5 selected, WAP and Secure WAP were left blank.
My IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter settings are
"Use server-assigned IP address"
I have tested my TyTN in free Wi-Fi lounges where proxy isn't needed, I didn't have any problem send/receive e-mail. I have also tested send/receive e-mail via GPRS, that worked fine too. Discussing this issue with our IT department, they suggested to change setting under IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi adapter to "Use specific IP address" and uncheck use proxy server setting under Network setup. I was able to send/receive e-mail when applying the above 2 changes to bypass proxy server. My question now is can I setup mail to work with proxy server instead of change network settings to bypass proxy server? Any help'd be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Hi,
Can any body help me in defining gateway address on my imate jasjam. I want to browse internet on my device and without defining gateway address, i am unable to do so.
I've used "wifi profiles" software and defined manual ip, gateway and dns but it is not retreiving gateway settings. At my workplace, there is a dhcp server which is automatically assigning an ip address to my device.

L2TP VPN connects fine from Galaxy Tab 10.1 with built-in Settings>Wireless & networks>VPN Settings. I can RDP by IP and hit my router's config page in the browser by IP, however no DNS resolution is occurring. using adb, "getprop net.dns1" reports 192.168.1.1 which is correct (my router's ip) but no domain names are loading in browser. Same VPN connection on iPhone works across the board and resolves names. What's the deal with DNS and Android's VPN implementation? The only difference in settings is the iPhone's "Send All Traffic" checkbox.
Here is a simple guide to share you PC or Laptop internet connection with your phone through wifi.
Download and install connectify on your PC or Laptop. Do a google search, you'll find Connectify-Lite for free.
Fill in the settings panel with your prefered WiFi name, password and internet connection to share.
Click start button to start sharing
On your Wireless Connection Status, click Details to get the network connection information, note the IPV4 Address
Now on your Android Device
Go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi Settings
Open Advance settings menu
Tick the Use static IP option
Enter your desired IP address (ex: 123.456.7.8) into Ip Address field
Enter your IPV4 Address (ex. 192.168.178.1) into Gateway field
Enter 255.255.255.0 into Netmask field
Enter your internet connection’s DNS server (use ipconfig /all command to get DNS info) into DNS 1 and DNS 2. As an alternative, you can use Google Public DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Connect to Wi-Fi using your password
Disable and Enable Wi-Fi (in case if it won’t connect)
It will start working on your android device.
The reason that you need to do all this is you don't have DHCP server enabled on your windows machine for connectify.
An alternative way is to use "Internet Pass through" USB connection mode. In this case windows will automatically enable a DHCP server.
I have attached the screenshots with the post.
Please ask if you have any further query.
