Update to froyo - myTouch 3G Slide General

Having problems installing drivers in order to do update. Any suggestions?

Well, if you're using 64 bit windows, that may be the issue. I had all kinds of "fun" getting it done using my laptop.
I managed to get it done using a fresh windows install, but it was a close thing.

Sounds like a pain in the ass!

It was. If you use 32 bit windows, you won't have as many problems. Or, you can root the thing and install one of the froyo sense rome in this board.

Just bought a rooted Evo on Craigslist which has fresh Rom but for some reason I can't tether it. I installed several WiFi tendering apps but when I try to connect to it using my pc, it says no internet access. Tried on Vista and win7.

Uncapped data on darkslide?

Has anyone done this yet. I found a thread where this was done on liberty 1.0 but couldn't (not smart enough) to determine if it is possible on other roms.

About two weeks ago I swotched from liberty, I had to choose between apex and ds, I could not find an unthrottle.zip for ds so I went with apex it has the option to unthrottle in the toolbox.

It's possible on almost every rom out there. Just do some Google searching and I'm sure you'll find it
Sure its possible all you have to do is modify the service.jar

Thanks Owen. I've been contemplating apex...I'll give it a go

Ds is the best rom out there for the x..it is possible to achieve that but you do have to alter the service jar...
but using apex come on ppl darkslide is the way to go and with ds3 coming out nothing close can touch it.

What do you mean uncapped?
Is that like, bypassing your carriers data block? i.e. ive got 500MB a month... by uncapped, do you mean my phone would be ignoring those 500mb and (obviously) i wouldnt have to pay jack to my carrier?
This sounds INTERESTING...
It is just a mod to take throttling away not atually uncapping data

Just google jit eclair and you'll find several guides. But it all sounds a bit hit and miss.
but there is none for flipout

From what I could make out, it's the same procedure for all phones? I might try this over Xmas/NY so will let you you know what happens if I do.
if somebody need it. I will be upload jit files for flipout.
but it isn't so perfect. maybe cause FC or bootloops.

Lost Phone

I lost my phone. I tried installing Plan B but haven't gotten a response just yet. Does anyone know if WaveSecure will install remotely? Also, I noticed a feature in the GPS settings that says locate phone when lost or something to that effect. I have ICS beta 7.0 installed fyi. How would I go about using the service?

I know you can find the device with latitude. I don't know how though. You will have to Google that. That's the reason I have where's my Droid app installed. It already saved me twice. One of the best apps ever.
