i personally have gotten up to 18+hours idk about an iphone 4
My DZ beats all my friends' iPhones (original, 3G, 3GS, 4).. when they whine about their units dying, I laugh at them because I usually am sitting near 70% with the same use. Then again, we're fortunate enough to have user replaceable batteries, i have the 1800mAh mugen
Well I have an iphone 4 atm and I'm not too happy with the battery life. Wud like a keyboard as I email a lot on the phone. Where did u get this custom battery?

I get anything from 12-16 hours of battery life from my DesireZ depending on usage. That is with Virtuous Rom overclocked to 1.2mhz.

Wow
and thats with the 1800 mAh Mugen Power battery?
so would you think that is a good deal?
Thanks~
Currently at 3 days (72hours) up time and 50% battery level.
Admittedly I haven't really been using the phone, but it's been syncing gmail, Facebook, twitter etc and picking up the occasional text message.
Cm7 btw, standard battery.
Phone was fully charged last night at 11.15, unplugged since then... at 36% now at 7.50... :-(
Its a brand new battery, old one was even worse, maximum of 5 hours of very light to moderate usage and need to plug in again...
Using CM7, somehow I feel there is something wrong with this phone itself... will see what happens when t-mo gets the phone back for repair...
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Well the iPhone 4 does not allow you to change features that alter the battery life too much like the HTC Desire Z. The iPhone 4 uses a stronger battery that allows the iPhone to reach a maximum of about 36 hours. HTC Desire Z's battery life all depends on use but this phone could last about the same with moderate use. Hope I helped

wondering if changing to the 1800mAh battery would help

I don't know if the battery life really sucks or not... When I don't just touch the phone, it lasts atleast 2 days and more... but as soon as I start using it, well... battery just want juice all the time...
Changing to 1800mAH will certainly help as it is bigger and as some of those who have experienced, it certainly lasts somewhere around 40-50 hours.
As a note, I have even tried the Battery calibrator app, can't really say if it helped.
I have the mugen 1800mAh battery and i have to say its a nifty little product. It easily handles my usage (constant texting and voice calls with max brightness and gps always on) without breaking a sweat. By the time i charge it at the end of the night, its usually at about 40% and unplugged for about 16hrs.
The stock battery would shut down by mid afternoon with the same usage.
I am aware of other battery solutions, such as the Incredible battery mod and such, but i found the mugen solution to give the most convenient results. Plus you get a warranty you cant really get from some ebay sellers.

8-40 hours, depends on how I use it.
I'm getting around 8-14 hours depending, when I'm on wifi it'll go for two days usually. When I'm outside and connected to 3g/HSPA+ around 12
I got a 3500 mAh battery and I'm running my G2 on a Amazing Larry's OC UV kernel which is based off of Pershoots. Been running 1.6Ghz for a little over four hours and I'm at 88%. Been using it for twitter/facebook/texting/music. I definitely don't mind the extended battery cover since I can run double the clock speed without killing the battery.

Not needed. From the pic he attached it's obvious the phone was in standby most of the time.
Man, you even use ya phone?
What is with this obsession of battery life goin on 'round here? I say, as long as you can get better battery life than a stock rom, you've won. Keeping the phone on for a day or two without charging seems like a good idea, but everyday isn't the same, and one day you may need to use it way more than any other day..if you start that day off with only 30% just because you wanted to see how long your battery would last, then you really gotta limit how often you use your phone just so that it can make it till the next time your around a charger.

The battery needs to be charged? I bought my phone back in June. The battery is now at 70%. I figured I just had to buy a new one when this one runs out.
Barely used phone. Come on.
Display 4%? Is that possible?
I can go a full day and a half, 36 hours, without a charge and I am using the original sense android... and I use my phone normally, I text, read usatoday, tmz, check email a few times, use the xda app... and I have wifi on all the time! What's this beef with battery life on these forums? Mine lasts forever! I just have things update manually, I don't let anything run without my permission.
I do, however, turn my phone off the 6 hours I am sleeping.
wifi is on = low battery usage, atleast in my experience.
Indeed. I got 1 day and 19 hours on stock nonrooted 2.2 back. and i used it for some medium texting. and some gps applications...maybe 2-3 hours max awake time. i dont think you used it much...the excessive 3G usage from FB doesnt mean anything.

According to mine, it's 122 min of screen on usage.
I had this scenario on my phone running myn's rls2 + king cfs #11 yesterday:
since unplugged - 24 hours
display on - 1 hour 25 minutes
charge remaining - 50%.
so i wanted to find out how long the battery would last on standby, and to my surprise.. it turned out to be nearly 58 hrs!!! that was on stock sense rom. non-rooted. and of course with very very minimal use. i basically just left the phone alone on my desk or in my pocket all day.
here is the screenshot i took back in july:
but that kind of battery life is unrealistic with normal usage. I am a moderate user (on the higher side), and i typically put my evo on charge everyday in the morning when i get to work (on weekdays). so, the charge on my phone lasts about 25 hrs with normal usage, that usually means about 4-5hrs of Awake Time. this is after rooting the phone. and i am using a stock rooted sense rom. i have had similar results before rooting the phone as well.
on weekends, i find myself charging the phone about 3 times (over 2 days), as the usage of the phone goes very very high.
i have a charger on my desk at work for the weekday charging, and a charger in my car for the weekends.
i have recently installed setCPU, and havent really seen that making too much of a difference, but that perhaps has to do with my usage pattern.
as pointed out in many a threads, signal strength is one major factor when it comes to battery drain. i live in Atlanta and i have great Sprint coverage where I am located, and that makes a world of difference.

it would help if you indicate the battery life that you were getting on stock or any other rom you were using prior to this. because there are so many variables that come into play as far as battery life is concerned. so that will help put your claim into some perspective

- No setCPU, but kernel has one built in.
- No bump charging.
- Light use, I purposely tried to not use it too much just because I was curious how long it could make it (like if I were ever stuck somewhere without a charger, knowing how long my phone could last if I did not constantly stay on it).
~ 1.5 hours of 3G pandora
~45 mins of texting
~30 mins phone calls
~20 minutes of 'My Tracks' app
~15 mins GPS navigation
~10 mins angry birds (tehehe, couldn't resist)
3G, GPS and location were ON entire time.
Thought I'd share
since skyraider is a sense rom you can use that kernel?
i thought incredikernal was AOSP?

2150mAh definitely, Kernel next and Skyraider after that. I saw noticeable improvements when I used Sky Raider over stock, and used chad's incredikenel over stock so I feel they have significant improvements on battery life for sure.
With screen off I'll get about 1.5 hours per %, with screen on and doing things it's completely different.
Much of this test was to see how long it would last with screen off and with those services (like 3G) running.
Very impressive. Don't think I can go over 24 hours with stock battery, CM7 and incredikernel.
I think I can get 24 hours, with reasonable use. I use juice defender which REALLY helps a lot - at least in my life.

the 2150 makes the phone so ugly and disfigured I couldnt use it. I am running SR3.5 but I get great batt life with Lou #8 kernel and the 1800mah Inc/Evo batt.
Unfortunately battery problems will be around for a while, did you hear the rumors about the T-bolt batt? LOL, 3 totals hours on a full charge! These "phones" or whatever you want to call them are so powerful and do so many different things its hard to design a strong battery at that size. Phone management is crucial.

I too got some crazy long battery life on Skyraider 3.5. Only reason I left was because ihtfp is no longer supporting them. When I tried MIUI for the 3rd time I really got into it (using LP) but I haven't been able to reproduce that awesome battery life I had on SR... Yet, at least.
I also dearly miss the Awake Time stat. All aosp roms should have that.

With a case on it, it's really not bad looking at all. Looks pretty sweet, and have gotten a couple of compliments on it
I got my case from here:

Without the case I'll admit it looks a bit weird though not that bad.
And about the thunderbolt only lasting 3 hours?
lul cakes, I read this:
http://androidcommunity.com/htc-thu...ored-to-be-due-to-poor-battery-life-20110228/
I thought HTC would have learned from the incredible that they seriously need to upgrade the battery. I hope they do a full redesign where they stick just a long battery down the entire back of the phone so people don't have to get extended batteries that bulge out.

If it was only one of the 1750mah batterys then you really should've done a bit more research, 3rd party batteries typically only have ~80% of the capacity they are rated at giving you ~1400mah or quite a bit less than the stock battery.

Fyi I'm on acs rom 2.2 and the seido isn't impressive. It absolutely wouldn't last a full day with 4g on much less just 3g with pandora etc. I did all the charging etc etc. Only reason I sprang for the seido is bc sprint paid for it. guys dont forget,if you need better battery life your first charge cycle should be a complete one without any interruption.
for a full charge cycle do i have to discharge the battery to 0% or just 1-5%

thanks for sharing. 8.30 hours of heavy use is respectable(if you can define heavy use it will be better though), but i had managed to get that with HOS on heavy use, even less so im confident it should be fine!
So confident i have already pre ordered a second battery as well! haha
I have been using the phone heavily since the past 12 hours which includes constant connection to 3g or wifi networks, app downloads, navigation for about half an hour, half hour of calls, 20+ texts, about an hour of streaming YouTube to my tv using twonky and I'm still at 35%.
And since the device is new so all my friends and colleagues have been checking out its sound, video and camera.
I haven't even been through my first full cycle yet and the results for me are pretty satisfactory so far.
Also it was connected to the car Bluetooth for about 45 mins and I had 15 mins of calls during that time.

Urban legend...
"It is important to condition (fully discharge and then fully charge) the battery every two to three weeks. Failure to do so may significantly shorten the battery's life (this does not apply to Li-Ion batteries, which do not require conditioning). To discharge, simply run your device under the battery's power until it shuts down or until you get a low battery warning. Then recharge the battery as instructed in your user's manual."

Guys, the screen on time is the one we really need to see. It's the screen that really impacts the battery life on an amoled phones. Please try to include those in your screen shots.
Take this screen shot I just took from my GN for example. May look like great battery life but what you don't see is that the screen has only been on for 35 mins, so it's nothing at all special.

Screen on time is needed to tell if that's any good or not.

Hello people
I had the feeling that my Note's battery is not as strong as it should / used to be... so I started investigating how could I possibly test this.
Back in the day when I had the HTC Desire, there was an app that was specifically tailored for the Nexus One, that also worked on the Desire, which showed the actual mAh capacity left in your battery. So, you simply charged your battery to 100%, then fired up the app. It did work!
That apps is no longer available. Or any other app like it. What I did find, instead, was Nova Battery Tester.
So, I charged up my phone until it showed 100%. Then, I fired up Nova Battery Tester and waited for it to do its job. 50 minutes and some -45% less battery later, the results showed that my battery holds only ~1800 mAh of its claimed capacity.
Now... I would like to ask you, the community here, to do the test. Charge your phone fully, then fire up the app. The app requires that all networks are disabled, but you can just enable airplane mode, start test, then disable airplane mode and let the test finish.
So... if there's anyone willing to do this test, please share your results. Reason why I'm asking this : I want to see whether the app actually shows accurate results or not. I am sure my battery is a bit off, but still...
Sure ill try it, I feel my battery's almost dead, I rarely get a day anymore and I have no drain issues.
I'll report the results later once I've done a full charge, good thread too, should be some interesting results to follow

Hmm interesting, It's a pity that I don't have the time atm. I will share my results tomorrow.
I guess the phone should be left alone for this test. I will do this test for my three batteries. One battery is never enough for me for one day's use.

downloading and posting my results tommorow. my battery gets hardly a day with medium usage. Down at least 30 percen tfrom the day i bought it... we shall then!!
its not accurate this app at all, we tested it with other batteries in the accessory section. A search should point you there m8.

I did search... nothing conclusive returned :/
You tested it? And what capacity did it show? And what capacity should it had shown...?

I charged my battery to 100%, ran the application and after ~1 hour and 65% battery left, it does capacity of 1750.

All I'm after is results, so I can see whether the app shows accurate values or not. If everyone's getting a result from 1700 to 1900, for example, the app can't possibly be accurate... since not everyone's batteries can be as dead or as good as mine.

I also have the feeling that the phone does not last as long as it used to. Besides, when I see reviewers and other people say that this phone lasts for so long... I feel bad, lol.

Okay. Looking forward to your results
I know the phone should be left alone (hence the requirement of networks off), but I was expecting a call and I was okay with stopping the test to answer it.
Will do a test with all networks off, some time later. Perhaps after today's exam.

How old is your battery?
What's your opinion? Does your battery hold ~1800 mAh out of a total of ~2500? Does it feel like the battery drains out too fast...?
Mhm... XDA has failed to combine these posts together. Nevermind this post and the next one .
Nevermind this

Battery 2708 mA? Seems a bit too much if its normal capacity is 2500
Just tester from 100% to 65%
Battery capacity: 1854 mAh
Battery rating: 2937 pts
CPU Rating: 7561 pts
My Note is about 1 year old.
OK, So im doing the test now, I chose the standard benchmark, Its been running for 35mins and has 30mins left.
Battery capacity is showing 2810mAh and its increasing, Not sure how this is possible if the battery is only 2500mAh when new, however, my battery has drained 30% in 30mins in airplane mode, with screen on max brightness.
Ill update the figures when the test in complete, but i highly doubt its accuracy.
Had my Note around 8 months now.

Mine is 11 months old. The on screen does drain the battery but since i am a moderate user, mine get across the day easily.
As of now, i would say, Note's battery backup is same as my Galaxy S (which i had earlier)
