have tried countless times to upgrade to Streak_351_15609_00.pkg but my phone would take forever at the dell logo. i even left it overnight and it didn't update. is this only happening to me and if not what steps did u guys use to upgrade?
Flash streakmod recovery and download update.zip from the wiki root 351 folder. Flash and then you should flash baseband

hi all just joined today..is there a way to do this "Streak_351_15609_00.pkg" using my windows desktop connected with my streak.,i am also afraid to loose my warranty if i am rooting this.what is the easiest way to do this update..any one was successful to do it without regretting!!
Don't mean to be rude but people keep asking the same over and over, search, search and read the links above. We were all newbies at some point,it is just a matter of time and lots of reading, otherwise if people keep asking the same they will be ignored.
I am not flaming you and I understand your concerns.
You dony need to root to upgrade operating system the default way.
I agree... all these questions have been asked dozens of times. If you don't search how do you expect to learn amything?

Hey guys I was wondering if there was a way to unroot the droid 2 yet? I think I may wanna turn my phone in seeing how moto is going to try to block people who put custom roms on the phone from getting updates and I only have a few days left in my 30 trial.
Thanks everyone

I just flashed my phone back to stock using the .sbf file put up by rootzwiki. I think I'll be writing a tutorial in a bit. May be this morning!

What do you mean? The recovery thread is helpful for finding some files, but beyond that, there aren't any sets of instructions or procedures that actually outline what to do to unroot a phone.
Thanks for the Tutorial darkonion... I tried to do it but for some reason it kept failing on me (tried 3 times) so i decided to just try to return it to my local verizon and the rep didn't even take the phone outta the box haha. Oh and that tutorial you posted on page 17 of the how to root droid 2 thread was perfect I really don't know much about command prompt or adb but I followed your advice without a hiccup. Thanks for all the help. Its greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Could you PM me where it went wrong? That way, I can start updating the thread to be more accurate.
How can I do this on a Mac? The download is an exe file.... And macs cannot use exe files. (correct me if I am wrong)
I unrooted via the package that I downloaded here in the forums and everything seems to have worked. However it still goes to the green screen @ reboot? Need to return in order to help pay for my new d3 @
Be careful returning rooted devices back to big red. Its a voided warranty issue, and not a wise idea.

Hello people, I had my Streak running Android 2.2 and received a notice today that an update would be available. It said Streak_351_15609_00.img.
Now I have a Streak running the official 351 Baseband.
Just wanted to tell y'all.

I'm curious if anyone running 345 has received notification of this update? I'm running 345 and I've been expecting a notification to update but so far nothing yet...
345 shouldnt recieve ota notifications since it wasnt publicly released. Non public roms are usually like that, 305/333/341 all dont have update notices even though they're old.
You have to manually update if you're on a rom that wasnt originally available on the OTA server
Learn something new every day. I thought 345 WAS a public-released ROM but I stand corrected. Thanks for that clarification.
Off to update to 351...
It was (to my knowledge) released by email to specific groups as a hotfix or a test group
It wasnt ever actually ever on the OTA server
Me using g Streakdroid 1.9 now... how can I install other versions.... it doesn't read pkg files anymore... only read zip files... its under android 2.2.2 now... help.... any simplest way?

Hey guys. I have a question. I have a European Streak, how can I download the latest ROM, stock, without rooting? The currently installed ROM I have, stock without ever reflashing, is bugging me. It crashes frequently when trying to answer the phone. I would like to reflash it download the original stock rom or the latest one. Do I need to worry about compatibility when downloading an OEM rom? Where can I get said ROM as well?
Thanks!

Thanks a lot! Now, I have one last question. I saw from the wiki page the how to guide, but I'm an official unlocked direct from Dell. I downloaded the 00 of 351. Now, on to the upgrading. Is it enough just to put the Streak_351_15609_00.pkg on the SD card, and rename it to Update.pkg, and then launch into recovery? Or do you know of a guide to upgrade an already factory unlocked streak? I did this once, but A LONG time ago, and I don't remember how. Ever since, I've changed devices a couple of times :s
Thanks!
1. Install PKG Recovery Hash (recovery.img ) 351
2. Streak_351_15609_00.pkg on the SD card, and rename it to Update.pkg, and then launch into recovery.
How do you do step one? :-$

Connect to WiFi
Download the stock rom you want directly to your Streak
When the DL is complete tap on the DL notification in the status bar and it should install
If it does not install, rename the file to Update.pkg and install using the stock recovery.
If the rom does not install with recovery you may have to manually upgrade the recovery on the phone first.
ROM installation HowTo
So the previous posters step isn't necessary (hopefully) because I don't remember doing that step. Regardless, if it doesn't update just by placing it in the update mode, it wont brick it. Will it? That's what I'm terrified of

Never an issue for me, YMMV. When installing a stock ROM the update is checked prior to install, that's why you may have to update the recovery first. If it installs without using recovery your settings and apps will be retained, but some users find a factory reset is required if the updated ROM is acting strange (force closes, runs 'choppy'). I find the 351 ROM to be very stable.
Sorry to ask but I'm also curious about the updating process. I have an unlock O2 UK Dell Streak 5 running 319 and I would like to know if it was possible to update to 351 by putting the Update.pkg directly to the sd card? Or must I flash 351 recovery img first - is this step important?

You need to flash 351 recovery first as your O2 is not compatible with 00 baseband devices..
This is a video i made on how to unlock bootloader, install recovery cwm upgrade pretty much the whole process of going from 2.2.2 to 2.3.4 the quality isnt the greatest but it will do it took me reflashing my phone so i dont want any *****ing cause i didnt have to do this.

yes to my knowledge because you need the newest cwm which only works with an unlocked boot loader if anyone knows other wise please illuminate me to this as i would like to make a new guide
edit: actually i believe you can sbf the leaked ota from motorolla but not many people are doing this because if you try to revert to stock it hard bricks so this is the only way if u want to go back to 1.26 or 1.83 without a brick.
Wow, amazing work. Thanks for putting so much effort in!
I just got at AT&T Atrix that comes with 4.1.52, Froyo 2.2.1. Is the procedure going to be the same at this?
Thanks again.

In fact, after wipe/reboot immediatly after system is up, the touchscreen and volume buttons don't respond at all, the only button responding is the power button....
That's weird did you have any mods installed before this?

are you on an att atrix if so make sure you start fromSTOCK and that you do not unzip the update if this doesnt work try one of the other roms same process should work as long as they are zips that install through cwm if still no luck flash to stock and send ur atrix in as a touchscreen malfunction its covered under waranty
Couple Questions:
I have Gingerblur installed on 4.1.83, how do I go back to stock 4.1.83?
Does this procedure also root 4.5.91 or is that done separately?
Thanks
To go back to stock there is a zip in the themes section I believe that will revert or you can SBF back to stock

MOD please link this in the how to's there doesnt need to be any more threads asking for a guide i will be updating soon and adding a video on how to sbf back and upgrade but for now the 50+ threads asking for a guide will find this sufficient.
If I install a CustomROM now, can I run an OTA upgrade when it becomes available? (I've got stock 4.1.83)
I'm just a bit scared to upgrade to CustomROM and become stucked to only other future CustomROMs.
You can't not directly from the custom Rom but you CAN sbf back to stock and it's update

Starting off, I'm probably posting in the wrong section. Excuse my forum etiquette, but I need help with this because I'm insanely frustrated and in pain (Decided to learn how to exploit the android OS while recovering from my surgery).
So, if you've read past that first part and are still willing to help, thank you.
Moderators: If you absolutely need to move this post, please move it to a section where it will actually get attention and I can get an answer. Thanks.
Anyway, the breakdown of my problem is this;
I wanted to root my new day old Sprint CMDA Nexus S, I've never rooted anything android, and if anything the most I've done with a droid OS is installed it on my old iphone 2g.
So I did some googling and first thing to come up was this guide:
nexusshacks(dotcom)/nexus-s-hacks/how-to-root-nexus-s/
Now, usually I would do a bit more research, but because of the lack of blood in my body I'm doing dumb things, making bad decisions, whatever.
So obviously this guide doesn't work, even a quick skim of the comments shows that, I try to follow this guide-
I followed step "fastboot flash boot rootboot.img" then tried to reboot. It freezes at the google boot logo. This is where I start getting a bit nervous because I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.
So I think "Well, if I jump over to someone elses tutorial and do that it should overwrite any "root"ing data I've tried to put into the device.
So I jump over to this:
androidadvices(dotcom)/root-sprint-nexus-gingerbread-235-update/3/
It has me install PDANet and it's frozen since on the installing PDAnet to your phone.
I just want to get my Nexus S back to original factory default so I can start fresh from there without a terrible guide.
Can someone please help me get there?
Thanks.
tl;dr:
Bad guide soft bricked my phone and I want to restore it to factory defaults

Ok I can see you need help but I am inclined to warn you instead. Stop. If you cannot figure out how to root the easiest phone to root then you shouldn't be messing around with your phone. You will end up screwing something up, won't know how to fix it, and come crying here for help. Do yourself some research before you go and ruin your phone.
Yes you posted in the wrong place.
There is a thread in this forum on how to root the nexus s 4g. Rooting is model specific. The T-Mobile Nexus s is different from the sprint, att, Rodgers, o2 etc.
Please please do some more research!

Thanks for a reply, and I understand I dug a hole.
Now I need to get out of said hole, so if you had any directions of how to dig myself out, that'd be great.
if you can get into fastboot then you are still cool, if not you're gonna have to odin it. I dont actually know where the tar files are, Micheal posted it up but i think they deleted the thread. You should have came to xda first,we have one clicks.
actually rooting is the same across the board. same steps same everything... in fact the one click root version 1 would work on any and all of them, version 2 branches out a bit further due to that it installs cwm.
anyways boot into fastboot, download stock fastboot images from petes thread found here http://wonderly.com/bb/CRESPO4G/OEM/GRJ22IMAGES.zip and flash them all in fastboot.
youll be back on stock grj22 but youll at least be booting.. from there follow a guide for rooting this phone that has you flash cwm (not a prerooted kernel). or be lazy and use my one click root

It is easy to downgrade or upgrade DS5;
Just flash the suitable recovery for your froyo rom,put your froyo rom pkg to your sd card, then install it from recovery menu.
Thank you very much for your time, but did you see my video? Yes i know, im stupid about this and my upgrade was a fault ... Can you write me, how to do it? Thank you. Patrik.

Ok download the rom package and baseband (recovery.img) from here ROMs. Then you must flash the basebad (recovery.img) use ADB and Fastboot + Drivers guide and after that rename the rom to update.pkg and copy it to sd card and flash. Thats it.

i would suggest you to try my options, just enter fasboot, flash streakmod recovery, download any one costum rom copy to sdcard. Reboot streak enter recovery (streakmod) wipe everthing, flash rom and do double wipe via streakmod & dell recovery. your dell will work, then if you plan to downgrade will be easier. Forget about Pkg, i try my self and its hurt.
