true what ya say i had the same problem like you in the other post when press bat 2 and phone restarts in just shows up for 4 seconds and goes

As you have already been answered in the other thread in development then NO there is no other way.. If there were you would already be able to read about it here on XDA - don't you think so yourself?

It's not that difficult just use the development sticky. I didn't have a clue yesterday and today I'm rooted XD now. If you follow the tutorials you'll manage it easy

i have but i have the same problem as timothy

Make a goldcard THIS WAY i tried with several different cards using HxD with no joy now all of them are goldcards thanks to that post..
Using unRevoked method uninstall ALL hboot drivers, put the downloaded (hacked usb drivers) somewhere u know...
Start unrevoked and when it starts installing drivers stop it and manually install them with the downloaded drivers..let it do it stuff and done..
it took me 4 attempts with my mates desire but persistance paid off

I used this guide ( not for the goldcard I used goldcard tool its really simple to use )
I used this guide forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894465

No....there isn't another way... i tried with z4root, superoneclick..
But nothing worked...
Sent from my Legend using XDA Premium App

there is an application - Z4root, can help u to root it in simple way. but you need the gold card which is also not difficult.

I rooted with ADB.It's a 10min. work! Use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894465 . You don't need a goldcard. You need FAT32 formated SD and read carefully from Prerequirements below.
Good luck.
There is no simple way! You'll need a balls of steel too.

Everything you need to know is in the link above. Next time use the search function/look through the threads for similar posts.
Good luck!
Yeah you can all you need to do is downgrade first.

You can. I had to switch my dhd recently due to hardware issues. They gave me back a gb dhd which was rooted again by me at the first evening. Follow the instructions and you can manage it!

Time ago I upgrade too by mistake to '2.3.37' and this thread had the solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152233
Be carefull in goldcard step when copying the serial from phone to post in the revSkill page. Took me two attempts to create correctly the goldcard to execute the downgrade.
i could do with pointing in the right direction
i have a dhd - unbranded
android 2.3.3
sense 2.1
build 2.50.405.2
i have read through the downgrading instructions i have found and downloaded the files but can't get it to work
when i run adb it doesn't even find my dhd!
any advice would be appreciated
ash .
maybe you forgot to turn usb debuging? or set to carge only ? or put all files to downgrade folder? try doing everything the tutorial says, cuz i had no problems when downgrading my DHD. Good luck

Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
I just downgraded from 2.3.4 last night and got root back on my phone. It took a while cause I never used adb before, but the instructions are pretty straight forward so its not extremely difficult. I'll post you the link I used, and if you have any other questions or problems I'll do my best to help. Here you go...

If you're not new to rooting, flashing and such, why wouldn't you post what steps exactly did you do and where the process doesn't go as expected? If you're dealing with Android for more than a couple of days, you probably understand that your posts are absolutely useless by now, having no information whatsoever that would allow helping you.
I know its just hard to explain ill try ok I dl the sdk and did all the updates and dl the adb and installed everything to the root of c: did the step by step process and when I try to push anything to downgrade file path not found or something like that
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
When you issue "adb devices" command, do you see your phone?
What is the exact command that fails? Post it here, exactly the way you're writing it.
Yes I see my phone but can't do nothing after that file not found not the right path but I did everything it says too even used adb for dummies lol.... But lets start from the beginning when I DL the sdk file where do I exactly extract it to C: or program I think that's where I maybe messing up at. Root of C drive I click on mycomputer and that where it goes right same thing as adb?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
You need to extract it wherever you want to.
C:\ would be best.
Just open the shell on the right directory when you attempt to use adb commands.
I suggest you to find some video guide on installing ADB and follow it.
And next time, when you're asking for help, please bother to WRITE THE COMMAND YOU'RE RECEIVING THE WRONG REPLY ON, EXACTLY THE WAY YOU'RE TYPING IT. Just as already suggested 2 times above (at least). Thank you.
Heres what I did. Follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912. once you downgrade, follow the guide for downgrading on the CyanogenMod wiki page for the MT4G.

Please someone help me out....!!

I bought a new DHD... i want to root my phone and install clockwork and install a custom rom in it... now the problem is that... i've tried visionary+ but since my software is 2.3.3 so it wont work...then i tried gingerbreak... but even that doesnt work too... i waited for like half an hour and nothing happened... please help me in rooting my phone... i'm new to the whole rooting thing...thanks in advance...

OP: as maddiedad2009 said, the AAHK is the way to do it.

about AAHK

y can say this: AAHK is working ,if you want to have your phone fully rooted but you need to find the original RUU (PD98IMG) for your phone
The link for AAHK

You might want to mention that doing this is unsupported.
AAHK is retired....why doesn't anyone read ACE THINK TANK?

I understand that. However, even though to worked for you, it may not for someone else. It may be prudent to mention that, in that case, no support is provided.
I rooted my phone 5 times with AAHK and never had any problem.

Yes, but that's obviously not true of everyone, and now it has been retired and is now unsupported. And AAHK automatically generated a gold card, chose and downloaded a RUU. The server hosting those necessary files is not gone. If someone tried to do that manually now he/she could get stuck with no support.
Forget it. Just know that if someone tries this method and gets stuck, finding help is unlikely.
I have rootet with aahk and i have no problems. Radio & Hboot S-OFF.
It´s importend to read the effen manual.
My DHD came with S-OFF so a simple 1click root with zergrush did a job for me.
Before i found it, i tried with the AAHK but when i saw that not all the files were so easy to find, and that there is no support i found an easier solution..

Since the point of AAHK is to get S-Off, you didn't need to use it anyway. Just flash a recovery from fastboot, then flash a rooted ROM from recovery.
AAHK was a pain in the ass for me... Almost bricked my phone...
I wouldn't recommend this tool, since there are plenty of -more secure- was to get root...

Well, it's retired and unsupported, so I'm not surprised. But when it was around, it worked perfectly for anyone who could read and follow directions.

Lol...Theres a thread somewhere with the files from the server, though those who havent downloaded the aahk before it was discontinued cant use them. I ran the aahk using those files to unlock a friends DHD and it worked flawlessly. You brick it if you dont do it the right way, just like with any tool...
This is for "new people" who want to S-OFF their device safely
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367322
Actually AAHK worked very well before got retired, people just need to read trough documentation carefully. This is the main problem these days nobody have patience to read more than 6-7 sentences especially if is about technical documentation, it is easy enough to say "meeeh I don't need to read that, how hard can it be..." and that's where 90% of problems started. I rooted my phone with AAHK and it went flawlessly, but spend 3-4 days reading carefully the documentation and xda forums, before that

[Q] Most difficult root process EVER

I've been spending days trying to figure out how to root this darn phone and it's driving me insane! It seems like every program or file I need is outdated or no longer exists. There are dozens of guides for different ways to root and they all seem to be outdated! I tried going through most of them and from what I've found, they all require stuff that is outdated and no longer has download links.
I can't find a direct link to the most recent HTC Glacier driver for Windows, HTC Sync doesn't notice the phone, and Android SDK Manager/Eclipse won't open up (even with updated Java). So I don't know what's going on with that. I have a GSN2 and successfully and easily installed the drivers for it, but this phone is being stubborn as hell.
I need a link to the most recent and properly working guide for the root process. If any experienced myTouch modder could direct me to the best guide out, I would greatly appretiate it. I feel like my brain is going to explode!

ok first you need to understand how to use a few of the android tools. you dont need the entire android-sdk and definitey dont need to use eclipse to root your phone. all you need are two tools from the android-sdk, fastboot and adb. I'm not sure which guides youve been following but heres a link to one that i promise will contain everything you need including links to all the tools.
