Xperia Arc Root without unlocking your bootloader (applies to SIM unlocked phones) - Xperia Arc General

Hi all,
I have sucessfully managed to root my Xperia Arc without unlocking my bootloader.
Just download and install the .APK file shared on this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=574372&d=1303397700
In case of “could not extract assets” error message, execute
adb shell rmdir /data/local/tmp
adb shell mkdir /data/local/tmp
P.S. apparently I am to new to post in dev forum, so can someone move this thread there

There is a thread there does the same thing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045204
Thanks for your effort tho. Search might be a good thing and there is a reason that you can't post in developer section.

Nimche Thanks.
But I couldn't find the thread myself. Found the tutorial on completely different forum, so suggested to share it.
BWT, reason I can't post anything in dev forum, is because I just registered on XDA few weeks ago and this is my first post and reply.

Yes, I appreciate you taking time to post the info you know which is great. Actually reason you can't post is because You haven't posted as much to be allowed to post in developers section.
Keep up the good work.

please help

I have Froyo on a non rooted nexus is here a way to unlock and root it it I have been trying but it will not recognize the bootloader. please help .
Thank You
You can unlock it using fastboot, just like you could in 2.1, as far as I know.
From there, flash a different recovery, then use something like this quick rooter:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686627
First of all, wrong forum.
Second of all, you're smart enough to figure out how to put an official firmware that's not released yet on your phone. So please use the search or read the forum stickies.

First of all I did not asked to be flamed just needing help If I made a mistake I am sorry but I thought this was a friendly helpful community or are you the bad apple ?
If you read the forum more, you'll find threads similar to this one, if you don't search no one will help you, especially for this very easy question you're asking.
1. Click on the Nexus One Q&A sub forum, that forum is for asking questions and getting answers.
2. There's a sticky, 3rd one down, it's titled "***Informative Links*** - Read before clicking "New Thread"". Click that, you should get to here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618768
3. Right there on top, 2nd link is "Root the Nexus one Tutorial" with the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612858 Click it.
4. Follow to the directions. If you have issues, ask in that thread.
Helpful enough? LOL

[Q] Root asus transformer

hey guys brandon back again not here though cause xda would not let me post in dev. until i posted 10 generals not a fan of that rule however..... i am currently running stock 3.1 with build hmj37_us_epad-8.4.4.5-20110527 and my kernal is 2.6.36.3-00001-gf377a2b i am not sure if all of the number are important but i want to make sure i do and ask this correctly i am trying to root with cwm with custom rom i have been seeing that i have to downgrade to 3.0.1 to get root is there anyway around that possible one click root or whatever and another thing is this prosedure reversiable, sorry for so many questions i really want to do this right cause this is one of these situation where i can't just turn my bricked device back to asus like i did with sprint many times just to get a newer phone. any links and advise would be helpful thanks guys
The reason xda doesn't let you post here before you get 10 post is to avoid some irrelevant post like this one in this section. It has nothing to do with android developmen, it should be in general. And for your question read and search a little there are many threads about it. For exemple the thread about WIP of one click root in this section, so there is none yet.

Wrong. There is a one-click root. Use NVFlash.
Not really one-click because you have to set up the drivers, but after you do that. You're pretty much golden. Just set TF101 in APX mode and then double click download.bat
ok what about a general adb root running 3.1 i can't seems to find anything specific to that current version they seem to be general rooting methods

because it is general, NVFlash works regardless of android version. this is why they don't let you post here until 10 posts
can you send me the link please and adb i have never really used that before is there a link for that, drivers is that on asus.com is there a specific driver i should be looking for like name specific thanks what about cmw?
Google android adb.
Searching is fundamental.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
It's all in the dev sections what you need to get root. search NVflash

Thank you sir.
There are alot of people in the Dev forum stuck with no one giving clear answers, and being a n00b here, I cannot post in that forum!
Hello,
I have tried the above tutorial a few times and am getting stuck at the step you enter the CPUID. Upon entering my ID it comes back and states CPU ID is bad format. I am not including the 0x and just using my serial number. Any ideas? Thank you.

If you wouldn't have closed your original account KJY2010 you wouldn't be noob here.
ATGadmin aka KJY2010 .
Offcorse you gonna deny this but I know better , already got confirmation on that .
Are you gonna link every post you do to AndroidTabletGeeks ?
I've been on your personal ignore list a while I think , not answering e-mail and skype.
Thanks for that , still got to figure out why but hé if that makes you happy !
Have a good one !
I appreciate that you and MD are trying to get your site off the ground, but why not share the information here and include the link to the OP. The picture guide is probably very useful to people and would benefit everyone to have it in both locations.
This looks like you are trying to poach people away. I know that may not be your intent, but the motives could appear suspect to some.
Also, there is a guide, without pictures, over in the developer section - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516012

Not our intent at all.
If you check the "time stamps" on both posts (the one I posted at ATG, as well as the one you posted) you'll see that the post at ATG (not the post I made here) was done hours before the post at XDA.
Having just been through the nightmare involved with having to revert from the ICS leak, finding my way back to a rooted ROM, and finding mostly hostile remarks directed at those that couldn't figure it out for themselves over in the DEV forum, we came up with a very clear, concise, and explicit TUT on how to get back to a rooted ROM, complete with ALL files needed to do so over at ATG.
As far as the "appearance of being suspect" goes, that's one of the reasons we started our own "community", and not just a mere forum.
While we literally just launched the site mere days ago, and don't have many members as of yet, those that have joined have already made remarks attesting to this fact. Most if not all of our members are members of several forums, some including XDA. No reason to "poach", as we're just giving people alternatives to finding information about things that we all share the same passion for..."All things Android Tablet Related".
Just wanted to clear up why, and when this post was made.
ty
Exactly, since we already have on XDA those informations http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516012 , this thread is now closed.

Can't access extsdcard in terminal.

Trying to hack tethering but it says no such directory...any tips? Tried a ton of things.
This is probably the wrong place to ask but I'm a noob to this forum

First off, questions go in Q&A, and will be marked with a [Q] before the title.
Secondly, you didn't provide what version of Android you were running.
I'm guessing here, but you may be running the leaked 4.4 Samsung ROM, if so, look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2607215
If not, then I have no idea.
So far you have created 3 threads for this request:
RULE 5. Create a thread or post a message only once.
I created one thread but it was in the wrong place. Someone told me to put it in the right place. Since I can't move threads I had to create a new one. I didn't realize the original guide was one this forum until later.

Why? I just made a guide because WojtasXda still not posted how to flash!
do you think what i don't written this? admin deleted this is. he said to me:
Hi,
After some more digging, it looks like some of your other threads were also the work of other developers. It is important that if you are going to post work from other people that you obtain their permission first. You need to be especially careful because most things are covered by some sort of copyright or license and you may get yourself or xda into trouble by posting it. If you are posting work that is not your own, you should post it into the general forums, the development forums are typically reserved for things that people have made themselves...and please only post things a single time. Posting the same content multiple times makes things harder for people to find and for you to manage. This is especially true if certain bugs, or bug fixes end up in only one of your duplicate threads.
Thanks!
