[TUTORIAL]How to repair your Arc - Xperia Arc General

I opened this thread collecting all the necessary information found on XDA
to make the search for the best tools to use, without having to search many threads, post etc.etc.,
I myself had many problems with my Arc after trying the root of my device ..... I'm crazy for two days to read and find solutions ..I'm newbie on Android
of course I also thank the help of many people who sent me this ...
all you will find in this thread, it is not my material, but as mentioned, are guides found on xda
That said, if you have problems of stuck your Arc after making changes as root etc.etc. here's what you should do:
(Original guide for use Flashtool)
1. Download FlashTool Beta Version 0.2.9.1 here: Original Thread
2. Download ROM for your Arc(File .TFT):make sure you have the correct ROM for your model
3. Open the folder you extracted FlashTool to and place the ROM in the "firmware" folder.
4. Open "X10FlashTool.exe" and click the FLASH button.
5. The Arc firmware you put in the "firmware" folder should show up and be selected. Click OK.
6. Now just follow the on screen instructions and it will do the rest for you.
That's all
N.B:
List ROM .TFT:
LT15i_3.0.A.2.181_Global_Customized.tft
LT15i_3.0.A.2.184_Generic_UK.ftf
for other ROM, we will try to update the thread
I hope this thread will be useful ...
If the moderators feel are unnecessary, they can delete it without problems

Any chance of anyone posting standard software here so we have something to back to if needed? I'm still looking for the standard UK Orange branded software.
Cheers
Dazza

some people got phones not booting, bricked, after Ota updates. That thread describes how these Play models have been flashed with flashtool, renaming simlock.ta to presets.ta in the ftf file.

this for people that have Arc simlock??'it's right??

erm....flashtool did not detect rom in the firmware folder

may be because you didn't extract it. file must be .ftf .....not zip or other!

confirm..... be sure to added file .tft in folder firmware and not file .zip or other

You might not have use the flash mode of the arc, turn off your phone then unplug from usb, then hold the back button then plug the usb device.

[Q] Can't flash, Cant root !

Hello, i have an Xperia Play 2.3.3/3.0.1.A.0.145 Clean Bootloader locked version.
And i want to root it with this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116090
(And the unlocking bootloader way is not an option because i had a lot of problems with it and i can't flash anything with it)
anyway, the problem is when i plug my phone and the flashtool asks me what device i choose X10 (the first option)
then i choose the FW and select all the files and cleck flash.
and i fallow the instructions by unplugging my phone and hold the back button and plug it again.
So far so good, but when the flashing begins and start with the first file, this massage appears:
13/013/2011 05:13:49 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
13/013/2011 05:13:49 - INFO - Now unplug the device and power it on
13/013/2011 05:13:49 - INFO - Then go to application settings
13/013/2011 05:13:49 - INFO - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging
And yes i did what the massage told me to do.
and i tried to flash so many times with no good.
so please help me or tell me what i'm doing wrong.
Are you using the beta version of flashtool? (think it's 2.9.1). It's the only one supporting the play. The reason I ask is I don't choose any phone when flashing I only have a x10 .exe when flashtool is extracted to my desktop
Regards Dousan...
When I go to use FlashTool, I get like 3 options as far as 'firmware'. Two X10 ones, and a 'Generic UK Xperia Play' one. The latter has about 8 or 9 different files in the pop-up column, while the other two only have like 2 files each. I think I'm supposed to flash the firmware that says Xperia Play UK Generic, correct?

Yes. And when it's done you root it with gingerbreak or any way you like. and finally you do OTA update.
Note: Your bootloader must be locked.

And my bootloader is more than likely going to be locked, right? I bought my XPlay by renewing my contract with Verizon.

If you didn't unlock it your self, Then it should be locked.
@ddsds it might be the file you're trying to flash that's corrupt or something, maybe a redownload will help. Have you installed the ggsetup.exe? You might also try deleting flashtool and re-extract it again?
This is how I proceed with flashing:
1. Turn phone off.
2. Start flashtool.
3. Hit flash button in program and wait for it to tell me to plug in phone.
4. Plug in phone - it flashes.
5. Turn on phone.
(first time I flashed I chose the fw file and I only have the UK generic for the play located in that folder wich I downloaded from a thread here on xda).
(make sure unknown sources and debugging is on)

I did it on windows.Solved the 0% issue. After locking bootlander and flashing step 1 do not try the step 2 root.Instead do the step 3 flashing. Then boot phone turn on DEBUGGING and tick UNKNOWN SOURCES.Then install the step2-DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su-batterydriver (1).zip and leave the cmd window on as u switch on the phone and press any key with cmd window on .Rooting takes place as the phone turns on.If u root after the phone has turned on fully, the phone dies in the middle of the root. After that install FuelGaugeFixV16.apk and u will start seeing the actual battery % too.U R DONE.ENSOI-----FROM MAK.Please reply and tell me if it has worked
No luck for me. After completing flash of step 1 and 3, I cannot get zerg rush to catch. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I open command window then begin and the process starts running. After I see "waiting for device" I turn on the phone, then the program runs and the phone ends up on the battery charging screen. If I turn phone back on while plugged in it starts and then I get first error "mount: permission denied (are you root?)". After further error phone restarts. Result..no root. . Any assistance you can provide is helpful. Thanks in advance.

Update 9/1
Sorry for the extremely late reply. I got busy trying to get the Vita hacked and then ...
Bottom line: Tried new method of opening folders = result was no change.
Currently have :1 stock SO-01c Docomo 2.3.4 Build 4.0.1.C.1.24 / locked bootloader
:1 rooted SO-01c Docomo 2.3.2 Build 3.0.D.2.79 / locked bootloader **(0% battery error)**
I would like to have both rooted with custom roms and if possible sim unlocked.
I have looked at the many forums and realized that I am only getting more confused.
It was so much easier with the G1 and MyTouch.
Any help with next step would be greatly appreciated.
I am willing to pay or donate reasonably to achieve my goals.
Thanks in advance.

[Guide]«FLASHTOOL»4 noobs

First of all...I just decided to make this guide for people that seem to run into the same issues as I did but I feel like its more of a pain to keep adding threads & waiting for a response...or searching thru different posts to get a different outcome you were looking for. So here is where I start.
Flashtool 4 noobs:
1. When you first install flashtool before you run the program go into the driver folder run install drivers... (Make sure that your antivirus isn't running & your phone is connected to usb.)
***only connect phone to usb while installing drivers then remove phone***
2. Flashing ftf files- Because there are so many ftf files out there make sure if you get one its the correct ftf zip otherwise you will get a SIN HEAD ERROR...
*{This error}*
"ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="SECURITY_CLASS";ERR_STATIC="SIN_HEAD_VER";ERR_DYNAMIC="Failed to verify sin header";\00"
(if you get this error while flashing ftf its because the ftf file isn't made for your model).
To flash ftf put the file in the firmware folder of flashtool before running it. Start flashtool...hit lightning button... Select flash mode... Choose the correct drivers(also select flash drivers from bottom of box) then choose the ftf file you want to flash...it will prompt you to connect it in flash mode(green led) hold the back button while phone is off...then connect to usb... It will begin flashing the ftf file..done
***ONLY FOR UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS***
3. Flashing kernels- In order to flash the kernel of your choice put the kernel.img in x10flasher folder. (make sure drivers are installed if you haven't installed them already). Then start flashtool... Hit lightning button... Choose fastboot mode... Select correct drivers & fastboot driver at the bottom of box. Menu should pop up. Select kernel to flash... Connect phone to usb in fastboot(blue led) turn off phone...hold search button & connect to usb...it will start flashing...done
***once you've flashed the kernel of your choice remove it from usb... Reboot phone... At boot logo hit the corresponding button to go into recovery... Back or Vol down depending on the kernel... If you don't hit it continuously it will go to black screen because it doesn't have anything to boot***
This concludes my guide... If you find this guide helpful please hit the thanks button... Or if you have any suggestions to make this guide better I'm open to feedback.

[Help]Bricked Xperia Play 800i DE

Hello,
I just wanna ask you guys on how to un-brick my SE Xperia Play, i unlocked my bootloader using the SE tutorial and i wanna know if i "Re-lock" the bootloader, will the SE Companion fix this ? I used the Flashtool to install a rom on the phone but during the flash the program got stuck at 34% for about 2 hours and then my laptop battery died, do you think i can fix this ? When i power on the phone i see the "Sony Ericsson" and after that a little icon with a phone and a ! sign, then the phone goes off.
Thanks!

If you have not download and installed Flashtool to your PC here is the site:
http://androxyde.github.com/index.html?1357833651000
Find your ftf file for your device and use flashtool to flash it to your phone, once its done you should be golden and have a working device again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589399
Make sure to save the ftf file int the flashtool folder and I would recommend extracting the and installing the flashtool file to your desktop or someplace easy to find....
If you got more questions .....yeah leave them here... Good Luck

As my current device is CDMA, I cant say for certain but, someone correct me if I am wrong, you should be able to flash any ftf... just realize that if you flash say Hong Kong you will not have German language, you will have obviously Cantonese, Mandarin, English......
Let me take a look:
Edit:
OK, so if I were you I would take a look at the following:
From johnnzey
R800i - 4.0.2.A.0.62
From Xperia4life
R800i 4.0.2.A.0.42 Generic UK and this mirror for it
I would say either of those two should be good (taken from the FTF link I posted earlier) Then again I like to experiment so I would probably go with different FTF files just to mess with stuff.
In regards to the .69.. looks like its the same as .62. So its up to you. Actually if I were you I would probably just flash my device with the R800i 4.0.2.A.0.62, just to at least get your device back in working order.
Also if you are having issues getting the fastboot drivers to work on your computer you can download the unlock tool from Wotan Server and it installs all the files, at least I have been told it will.
Wotan Server Download Link:
http://www.wotanserver.com/en/sony-ericsson/se/xperia-play-r800/unlock-tool/debranding-flash
Again, good luck amd let us know if you save your XP or need more help.

Again, good luck amd let us know if you save your XP or need more help.

Thanks for all the info you provided me.. I'll try this at home, until then.. THANKS !!!
Ps. I don't rly need German as a language on the phone, i'm in Romania, the phone came with a German ROM.. i was just wondering if i need the original german one..
Just one more thing, when i use Flashtool and select the ROM, do i need to check/uncheck anything like "Bootloader", "Kernel" ... Should i leave all of them to be installed ?
Thanks !
Edit: Stuck at 19% ... I don't really know what to do

Awesome, good to know you saved your PLAY. Generally if you are updating and it fails, flashtool and fastboot are your best friend. On a side note I would keep the flashtool files, FTF file copied to a seperate place for emergencies.. I leave my stuff on box.com (Xperia play users get 50gb free) or my D-H.st account.

[FTF][Xperia Z1][C6903]Global-LTE 14.1.G.1.534_1277-2880_R4A *Arabic Language Support

Hi Guys,
My cousin got his hands on C6903 from an online retailer in Dubai and he sent me a screenshot of his customization screen and its 1277-2880 Global LTE. He doesnt know how to create an FTF file, I tried to help him out but no use.
Can anybody try to change his customization in build.prop and try to download this Global LTE version? I tried it already but my build.prop doesnt update after a reboot for some reason
UPDATE 1:
Managed to successfully download this version from SUS. Its supports Arabic and Farsi languages
I am currently uploading the ftf file, will update this thread with the link once its complete
UPDATE 2:

This is the tool to flash that FTF, link: http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
All information how to do it they are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439328
I give you just few tips: Turn off your phone, keep pushing volume down and connect to PC, let Windows install the drivers, hold all the time volume down, open Flashtool, put first the FTF in folder of the flashtool, click on flash in flashtool, select the right FTF, click wipe data, cahe, appslog and uncheck everything else. Flash, when you see the first percent of the progress on green bar you can leave the button volume down. This will wipe all your data on the phone.
Perfect

Another Story, to flash the file which you downloaded today you have to use Flashtool and the phone have to be in Flashmode (Volume Down + Connect USB to PC, remember?). The language is implemented in that FTF so when you will turn on your phone the first screen will be of the language you want to use and there will be the Arabic. Like on the pictures posted by OP in first post.
Great
