Why is this? My app2sd space is 300+mb but why it seems like my apps installed in my phone memory?

A2SD doesn't move the entire app to the SD card, only part of it. I believe that if you are root, there is a method known as A2Ext which makes use of a partition the user makes on the SD card and treats that partition as if it were part of the internal memory, thus making it unnecessary to use A2SD. Can someone with more knowledge on this topic clarify this?
i've had the same problem for the last 6 months, never been able to fix it. I have 20 mb internal storage left, and a2sd is definitely working (partition shows up in Titanium Backup, and i have a LOT more apps than would fit normally on internal). Someone recommended I move my dalvik-cache to sd, never tried it, but I'll look at it soon.

Ive tried typing a2sd cachesd in terminal emulator. But my phone memory are still decreasing after i install sniper vs sniper online from 30mn to 20mb. And now the Low On Space message are back on my notification bar.
And yes, i use darktremor app2sd.
Other suggestions of what to type in the terminal emulator?

You guys definitely need to move the dalvik cache to SD. I forget the exact term to type into terminal emulator but I think there is an a2sd app available on the market which you can use to do it. Its called A2SDGUI

I have installed it. It says my dalvik cache are on sd-ext. Other suggestions?

like britoso said, try datasd. that should clear up a lot of space
I had a similar issue..not sure if my solution will work in your case, but worth a shot:
In Root Explorer, go to the "/Cache" folder
Delete all the "downloadfile-(number).apk" files
See if that fixes it
It seems as though the marketplace gunks up that folder whenever it's updating an app, or something along those lines.
I have the exact same issue. I'm always hovering around 20MB

You don't need it. CM 6.1 supports installing apps to the SD natively. No need to worry about a2sd.

Yes, that is how I do it. You can also set the default location to SD for new apps that you load.

Correct me if im wrong, but isnt the dalvik cache still set to be stored on the internal memory by default, and using a2sd(which is what I do) the only way to move it to the sd card.
After every flash, I reinstall a2sd from clockwork, then load the build of CM6 I just updated, then go to terminal and run:
su -> a2sd cachesd(then phone reboots and the dalvik cache flag is signaled to be stored on sdext instead of internal storage.
and then to be safe I usually run "a2sd repair".
Is there an easier, more reliable, stable, blah blah way of moving dalvik to sd, and ensure all installed apps are stored on sd instead of internally? Right now i have about 70 apps installed, and have 166mb free internal memory left. And everything is very fast and snappy. I have no problems using a2sd. it seems to be working perfectly for me.
So could someone tell me if there is a better way of achieving what I am already achieving, without using a2sd? Thanks

I tried to find the a2sd but could not find it, would u be kind to guide me to it =)
is there a way to install apps to sdcard only? i see a nexus one app on here, but dont know about it. i have evo4g and its not rooted.

Applications can only be stored on your sd card if
1. You are on 2.2
2. The application you have is developed to be stored on the sd by the dev
3. Or if you are rooted you can store apps on your sd card regardless.

You should search for apps2ext for your phone - it should be available. It may be listed as a2sd. Just make sure it says apps2ext NOT apps2fat. Installing apps to the fat partition is easy but the dev has to allow it, it doesn't mount on boot, and it still leaves about 1/4 to 1/3 of the app on your phone.
Apps2ext mounts on boot, the dev doesn't have to do anything, widgets will work, the entire app is moved (not data or cache - stays on phone), the dalvik cache is moved to the sdcard also. You have to set up an ext partition on your sdcard though - but that's super easy.
apps2sd is also a popular program for accomplishing the same task and it is free in the market.
Under applications I there is a tab for Apps On SD..

I keep getting Low on Space error, and cannot remove it.
I've cleared browser cache and deleted SMS messages..
Moved almost every app I could to the SD card (except the system ones, which won't allow me too, and a few widgets which need to be on the phone apparently [winamp, clockr, battstatt]).
Not sure what else is eating the ROM..
Is there an uninstaller app that you recommend that tells me if an app is on external or internal?
I'm running Kangorama 1.1 if that matters.

On Kangorama's first post, you should look into the apps2ext method. Nexus One doesn't have much built in space for apps, so it's going to happen pretty easily. I highly recommend apps2ext since i have several gameloft games that eat up my memory instantly.
If you aren't interested in apps2ext, in the cyanogen settings/apps there should be a auto move all to external. This is the default froyo apps to fat32.

I thought I had apps2ext setup..
It was set in my advanced installer file and I remember choosing an ext2 partition..
however when I run a2sd check in the terminal
it says it finds a partition but it isn't installed properly.. I might have an ext4 partition and this rom doesn't support it..
I tried re-installing and it says it's missing an install file..
Running fix_permissions now..
I'm going to try a2sd uninstall/install in a bit.
You must have an Ext3 partition, so in your recovery you have an option to ext2>ext3.
Then in terminal write this:
- su
- a2sd check
- a2sd cachesd
Then phone will reboot and voila

No it works like apps2sd, but rather than just symlinking /data/app and /dalvik-cache/ it symlinks the whole data partition. so all your apps would be auto symlinked. You will need a custom kernel with init.d support though.

The end result is so cool, im just not confident on myself enough to do the procedure yet, its all technical for me

I haven't tried on all dooms kernels so far just the CM kernel and all I did was make a partition from recovery, I made a ext4, then flash the script it was just that easy now I've got space for whatever I need. I made a modest 1.5 gig partition and away I went

I get problems with internal storage, but mine are different. I'll have 70 megs free, but if I want to update a bunch of apps that are ~5 megs each, it'll say I don't have enough free space and stops. ugh.

I had that very same problem when I moved the dalvik cache then I came across this script and problem solved!

Starting with Android 2.2 (Froyo) Google introduced native apps2SD.
This method moves
* apk file on Android 2.2
* apk + lib files on Android 2.3+
into a secure folder on your SD card in the main FAT partition.
It is the easiest method because it doesn't require you to partition your sdcard and root privilige.
It has some disadvantages though.
First disadvantage is that application files are just stored on the sdcard's main FAT partition.
When you enable USB mass storage to share files with your computer (or otherwise unmounts or removes the external storage), any application installed on the external storage and currently running is killed.
The system effectively becomes unaware of the application until mass storage is disabled and the external storage is remounted on the device.
Besides killing the application and making it unavailable to the user, this can break some types of applications in a more serious way.
So second disadvantage is that not all apps can be moved with native apps2sd method because of above reason.

I can vouch for link 2 SD. Gave me quite a lot more storage space. "Lordbattlebeard" helped me set it up in another thread. Admittedly, I don't know much about the other 2 so can't help on that front

I flashed the CM7 Epicmtd selfkang 12/13 build today and i am noticing that certain apps that i have purchased and free ones as well give me an error "insufficient space on the phone" i am attaching a screenshot of it. I checked the internal storage at its indicating i have 433mb of free space. Can you anyone help? I wiped data / cache and dalvik 3x prior of flashing this build. The ROM I was using before was cm7 Epic selfkang 11/24 build (BML).
Your phone has very limited space for app storage. You need to either delete unused apps or move whichever apps that will go to the sd card.

Thanks for the response, but i wiped dalvik and cache and still a no go. Its only on certain apps not all which is mind boggling. Any other suggestions???

No. I know what your problem is now. You have pieces of those apps still on your phone causing that error. It happened to me with the ebay app and youtube. You need to use root explorer to search your phone storage for any filename with the name of the app. For example youtube. You may find files like com.android.youtube. or simiiliar. You will need to delete those remnants and then you should be good.

Thanks for info, but still a no go. I deleted all the files associated with the app using root explorer till the built in search didn't turn up any results. I read a post from another user with this ROM having trouble installing apps larger than the size of the cache partition, so I'm guessing that could be it. Just unsure....

Yeah bro... the cache partition is where Market tries to put the download and if you are on current CM7 MTD your cache is 25MB total. That's a no go for some apps on the market. You can see your cache size and free space by running df -h in term emulator.
You can:
1. Restore app with Ti if you had it installed before and backed up in Ti
2. Wait for next version of CM7 MTD and hope cache partition is bigger (would require a fresh CM7 install as it will redo partitions (eg fdisk'ing will wipe them clean))
3. Go back to non MTD ROM and get app installed and backed up with Ti so you can restore it once you go back onto CM7 MTD

I'm sure it'll be adjusted, seems like I've heard the 25MB Cache partition was more proof of concept. But I'm not one of the devs so take it with a grain of salt
I found another work around. If you could get a hold of the apk, then it'll install.
I used my wife's phone to download Frontline Commando, pulled it with Total Commander (or your favorite file explorer) and copied it over. It installed fine.
The file was 27.## MB.
Sneezy is right, that will work if you have a spare device.
