After update to Malaysian B136 I check out 'About Phone'. My 'version' is correct (...B136) but my 'Custom Version' is still CUSTC244D001 (not CUSTC38D001).
Is this expected behavior? Or should the 'custom version' also change?
cust.img is packed by network operator. thats not very important.
That is not important.
Ok, thanks.

I applied Stockwell's update.
Okay because I first applied the update to the 133sp16 or something but I noticed battery drainage so I flashed the general rom and then applied the update

How severe was the drainage?

Kies doesnt show any update for me, am i gonna have to change the registry from it or something else?
Regards.
Kies is troublesome. It is far easier and less painful to update via Odin.
Does it say "it can't be upgraded" or does it say "update isn't available"?
If it's the former, first update Kies. Download fresh from Samsung website or go to settings and check for updates. Upgrade will then be available.

Hello XDA Forumer,
If you are a little crazy like me who is having fun playing around with your Samsung Galaxy Ace, then you've thought of going back to froyo as well after applying 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) or any ROM.
Here's the tutorial: http://s.chinoyray.com/groups/samsu...lashing-back-to-froyo-2-2-1-from-gingerbread/
Yeaahh me too just flash back to froyo.. Wanna feel to get official gingerbread release maybe this upcoming month..

download S5830XWKB7 MULTI-CSC-OXXKB6 2.2.1 @ samfirmware.com,
flash it succesfully and then open your ace, now "call" *#272*YOUR-IMEI#
and change CSC correct (in Finland we use NEE), now you can get updates over kies!

For those in Philippines: SMA = Smart, GLB = Globe, XTE = Sun, XTC = multiple.

A bricked phone means even if you press POWER+HOME button or POWER+HOME+VOLUME DOWN and nothing happened even if your phone is fully charged, then that is bricked. If it's bricked, you cannot do anything to your phone now. Say bye bye to it.
BUT
If you press POWER+HOME or POWER+HOME+VOLUME DOWN buttons and your phone went to recovery or download mode, then it is not bricked and you can just reflash any firmware you want to restore. Upgrade, downgrade, it's all up to you.

No need to flash back to froyo. In theory, you can move to a Custom ROM based on the dev's requirement. (XXKPH for Gingerreal as an example)
What is the original firmware for the Netherlands?

unable to check for firmware update thru kies
Hello,
I'm from Malaysia. I've successfully downgraded my phone from gingerbread KPH to froyo DXKC1. When I connect my phone to KIES, it says that this firmware cannot be upgraded. May I know what am I missing here? I was hoping to check for official firmware upgrade thru KIES.

SEA ginger isn't listed on KIES, yet. but you can call your local SSC and ask them about ginger upgrade. most of them already have new SEA ginger (well atleast in indonesia).
try re-flasing (please make sure that you use full package / complete file.
i've tried once, from KPH (blackhawk rom), to DXKC1, succeed, kies can detect my phone normally and chek for update.
i got a case of bad luck though. earlier today. bricked my ace from going from fla.shX2.2 to DXKC1 (the same file i use previously)

You must install csc for your country. *#272*imei#
Then select your csc and click install. Of course this only works is you flashed a multi csc with your country in it.
Cheers

What is currently the latest UK I9505 firmware at the moment. I have I9505XXUAMDM, but see I9505XXUBMGA floating around being the latest UK firmware, but I don't see it in Kies or OTA.
Thanks

Hi,
MDM is really quite old now.
If you have not got the option to OTA upgrade, you might consider the Pre-rooted ROM
You still remain "Official".

Best thing to do imho is uninstall Kies (except the drivers) and flash whatever unbranded Euro rom you want with Odin 3.04. See www.sammobile.com/firmware/1 for available roms.
Thanks, think I'll flash with odin

If it tells you it has the latest, then it has the latest for your device and region.
But the absolute latest is ANG7 for the 900F.

Edgarf28 is the dev of the ROM I run and he has confirmed it, it is a bit strange of course, but that is Samsung for ya
I received updates on both of my S4s, size is 437.64mb, in fact i am on lollipop 5.0.1 did anybody else receive this update yet?
Is the phone running the latest ROM? The stock ROMs are at sammobile.com and you can compare the installed ROM to sammobile.com's ROM files..
