Whenever I watch videos online or YouTube, the videos do not play smoothly. About every 7-10 seconds it will freeze for a second or 2 then pick up 2 seconds later. It is incredibly annoying and pretty much makes my NS useless for watching videos. Is this a common issue with the NS? Should I try to get a new one through warranty or do all NS have this problem. (Internet speed not the problem)
No problem here with YouTube over W-LAN and mobile connection.
Did the video preload fully or are these "lags" due buffering?

I have never had any problems since I have Duttys 6.5ROM(unlike 6.1 finale!). However from today the videos are becoming extremly slow to stream when I have Wifi connection. They will stream to approx 30-50% and then freeze and then go approx 50-53-56% etc. It is extremely slow. I have tried adjusting video playback to autoselect rather then high quality but still getting same problem. Incidently there is no problens when using internet,so not sure anything to do with connection. It seems the connection is stuttering.
Please help
New rom fixes it I believe
fixed now!
Somebody was downloading a movie on home PC !
Not sure if anyone else have encountered the same issue, but when I stream lengthy videos on Youtube app (>15mins), the buffering happens fine initially and the video kicks off. After say, 5 mins it stops all together and the video gets stuck. Im able to reproduce it everytime on my device. The workaround is to close the app, reopen it, get back to the same video, and get to the same point where it hung. Imagine my plight, when you need to watch an hours video on Youtube. I had buffering issues on the TF, where buffering was slow, but it never stuck indefinitely.
Anyone else facing similar issues and any ideas regardin how to fix this?

Testing it out now with a 20:00 minute video, couldn't find anything but the Milan Fashion Show in HD
Will let you know (have screen timeout set to 30 mins).
UPDATE: Watched the ladies march down the podium in full glory of HD for all 20 mins without any buffering issues.
Not sure if its a Youtube issue or issue with my Tab. The speed on my Wifi router is close to 25 Mbps download. But, lots of youtube videos take hell lot of time to buffer on my TF, Tab and in some cass, on my laptop too.

Most likely it is your ISP. Is it happening when you are connected to another wifi access point?

I've gotten some force close issues on youtube with some random videos, select it and then it starts to buffer and then freezes and force closes

Just got Nexus 7, updated to 4.1.1
I'm having an issue with the stock Youtube app. I watch a video and 5-6 minutes in, Youtube would just stop streaming the video. When I try to go back a page, Youtube hangs and crashes.
This happens with all videos and 5-6 minutes into the video. I can fast forward/rewind in the video, but the video stops after 5-6 minutes and youtube crashes after that.
Also another problem, sometimes when I click to watch a video, the video won't stream at all and will just have the circular loading screen.
Does anybody have similar issues?
I'm having the same issue. After I go to System -> Apps -> YouTube and clear the cache it works fine for a few mins but then goes back to this behavior. Any thoughts?

I have much better luck (and prefer) watching YouTube through the Chrome browser. No problems like you describe.
Having the same issue. I wonder, how many people have the same problem? If not so many, could it be related to:
-subscription?
-hardware?
-wifi-stength?
Any updates or solutions for this problem?
I've had this problem for a long time, although for me it usually occurs 1-2 minutes into the video instead of 5-6 minutes. Also it happens around 80% of the time i play a video, not everytime.
I'm stock and rooted.
wondered if anyone else suffered from this - not sure if its an "Android" or Note 3 issue
basically if watching streamed video - in particular Netflix and Youtube - I can't get smooth playback
the phone seems to drop frames (noticeable by either causing judder or a sudden slow down/speed up as it catches up)
this is via 3G or via Wifi - makes no difference
same content on IPAD is silky smooth
I've tried forcing 2D acceleration in dev settings to no avail
it seems like the hardware or OS can't keep up with the video at all times
local content plays back completely smoothly, be it podcasts via Pocketcasts or local video files via MX Player - perfectly smooth - even at 1080p
any ideas please ?

I would love to say that my n9005 at 4.3 is stuttering as well. I don't know why.

I noticed something interesting this week -although maybe Placebo (pretty sure not though)
I've always had laggy/stuttering Netflix vs smooth on IOS
yet smooth local 1080p content - perfect really
I was trying Sky Go earlier in week and was lovely and smooth in fact I'd noted how smooth the video playback seemed vs Netflix, tonight I noticed stutter on Sky Go was beginning to think if I was running something in background or something - but then figured the difference - tonight was streamed via Wifi, earlier in week was same/similar content but downloaded first
so is there something odd with chipset that it doesn't like Wifi + Video decoding at same time ?

MX Player (and others) might use hardware decoding, Netflix and the sorts might not.
You could go to Dev-settings and check on "Show CPU usage", so you can see whats happening. (But you'ld have to google what it all means as i dont know.
But what i do know is that the procces list shouldnt be too long, like 20 items in my list when idling (for 5 minutes) after usage.
After updating Lineage on 6-8-18 (first update since initial install), YouTube videos have sporadically begun lagging for no apparent reason. After a couple of seconds into a video, the video will start dropping frames (from 60 FPS to around 20) and lag behind the audio. I have tried:
Closing out the video
Closing out the app
Restarting the S4
Clearing YouTube and system cache
Reinstalling YouTube
Disabling HW overlays and forcing GPU rendering
None of these provided a permanent fix. Restarting the S4 would fix it, but only on the first time using the app. Browsing YouTube through the browser works fine, but is not the ideal way to use YouTube long-term. This issue does not happen with all videos, it appears to be completely random which ones it uses.
