Best Current HTC Hero rom?

I've been been out of the loop for pretty long, and was just wondering what users of xda considered to be the best rom out at the moment. Currently on elelinux, but fancy a change, cheers!

CyanogenMod 7 was released today... but I can't seem to get it working. I'm (still) on 6 at the moment and I really like it.

Cyanogen 7 is reallllllyyyy slow.
Depends wether you want sense or aosp.
My favourite sense is chocolate froyo but it has no camera.
My favorite aosp is probably elelinux 2.3 but it has been really buggy. He released a new version today that promises to fix it but to be honest I am so happy with villain 13 that I probably won't flash again until either sense 2.2 or bonesys 2.3 have camera.

Froyo: Elelinux Speedmachine v3 or Floyo 1.2
Gingerbread: Cronos Gingerbread 2.0.1
I'm not sure about 2.1 sense roms but i think cronos or villain would be best here.

Went from stock android 2.1 to VILLIANROM 13 then to tastyfroyo 1.2 then to CM7 nightly build #35 then now with CM7 stable release. CM7 was best for me but this stable release really buggy with the notorious transparent menu bug..

If you need stability, do not touch CM7 for Hero. Wait at least for 7.1. There is an unfixed problem with overflowing graphics buffer in Android 2.3.3. Other devices also suffer from this issue, but Hero suffers more, as it has less graphics memory.
Actually no 2.3 ROM is satable and fast enough. I am using CM7 nightlies, but they can sometimes be a PITA.

I would suggest FroydVillian 1.7

I'm using VillainRom 13 because I want Sense. Looking forward to their 2.3 with new Sense offering though.

I've been lurking here for about a month after I got my Xperia x10 for $1 at Best Buy... and I'm addicted. Thank you to all the devs that made the XAT CM6Froyo. It really is the most complete Rom I've ever tried (so far). Camera works, code reader works, even Barnacle worked without a hitch! Though it didn't come with Flash, installing it was a breeze. Just tested the South Park Studios Big-Ass Episode Player, it took a while to load the video, but it does work. I love it and I love you guys (and gals if it applies)!

Hey XDA, this is Ognimnella! Or soon, BFG SgtRecon (Xbox Live, OpenFeint, and Gameloft Live name) an I am presenting MytouchSensation v1.0 . I want to make my own rom because I know what I and many others would want in a rom! I hav spent time looking over the forums and the internet, watching what ppl hav been asking about. Just to name a few, this will include
1. 3D Gallery
2. Google Music Player
3. Netflix (compatibility check disabled)
4. Theme Chooser
5. "Window" Marketplace*
That's just a few, more are coming as I begin building! Not that I put a star by window marketplace. Basically, there is a them iin theme chooser that gives a 3d like UI, and when you open the marketplace, your background is visible still, so if you have a beautiful LWP that you dread not being able to look at when you open the marketplace, never again.

Unless your aim is to have an Asphalt theme, I would pass on including the game in the rom. It would definitely be bloatware for many people out there, as cool as it is to play the game on our little mytouch that could. Best of luck!

LG optimus 4x HD was chosen cause the developer of cm10 is a hard core fan of LG. Anyways, I loved the video. Simply awesome..

Lol, just posting info/news for even us willy wilders may find interesting/useful. Some articles may not concern or be of any importance to wildfire but old members now moved on sometimes still view the willy thread and current users will all move on eventually so a heads up or little info here n there may help.

1 tap quick bar is a notification toggle app. Free version is restricted to just one bar with max 6 toggles but you get to choose from system setting,shortcut,apps,even contacts etc etc.very nice indeed.

[evervolv 4.3] Just for fun

Hey guys.
Since 4.3 is out, I wanted to test it on the x10, since my Wiko Peax is based on mediatek chipset and there's no way of building roms.
So there it is. First as a screen shot, but soon a released version.
For now I don't have any sim card to test if it works, but wifi is working. Same WLOD as for the 4.2 versions ... since I'm still using the 2.6.29 kernel.
Don't expect anything fantastic, it's slow, but nevermind, x10 never dies. ^^

Got to fix properly ramdisk, and add recovery and chargermon.
Today I've got to run the famous command that fixes the blinking screen since JB by hand by connecting to adb. So just got to make it clean, and I'll be able to provided the first version. Don't expect this before next Monday. Will only get some time this Week-end

I must admit Android v4.3 on a circa 2009 Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10i, would be quite something for show and tell,
I may even risk my perfect GB v2.3.4 configuration just so I can have a screen shot of Android v4.3 running.

I read Android v4.4 is mooted to be released in a couple of weeks (maybe mid October)
Should we skip Android v4.3 and go straight to Android v4.4.....
Wouldn't it be a real wheeze if we got Android v4.4 on our XPERIA X10i before is was available for the XPERIA Z or XPERIA Z1
