Yaayz!! It's got 2.1, we can get walkman app from it

what a shame... i was hoping for at least froyo so we can port it to x8...
well, this phone is just x8 without GSM module, i don't think there are any more changes in hardware.

It's a pity W8 isn't running android 2.3
Developers would port that to our X8

It's only for the asian market, but too bad if it has eclair.

Lol, just a X8 with Walkman player. xD

this is disappointing

It's just another variant of x8, lol

it might be possible to flash this walkman customised version to our X8's if so that would be awesome just like the original SE day's of cross flashing phones

I'm wondering if they'll actually rise the price of this device in comparison to the ordinary X8 simply because they wrote a new music app... Amusing, sincerely.

imho the price is going to be lower than x8's launching price, but still higher than prices of brand new x8's on internet auctions. it wouldn't be worth its price, i'm pretty sure of it ;p
however, it looks nice, combining black with orange looks cool to me.

Stupid phone but horewer i will flash fresh walkman firmware to my x8 it will give new fresh look, new kernel maybe but still it is only x8 with walkman app and some other theme.
Im 100% sure that everything will work if i flash w8 firmware.

And I'm 100% sure that the kernel'll be exactly the same.
BTW, wujekandrzej, I see that you've got a psingwin, does it really not talk about Smolensk?

A crappy piece of plastic, IMHO.
A new color combination, a new music app and a unpgraded device [it has 2.1 eclair just like our X8s] isn't worth the buying.
As far as I can go, I'd replace my X8 cover with this walkman one.

I do prefer fresh theme and firmware.
I want SE X8 Walkman not just SE X8

sry for offtop

lol, the difference is only at the color.
if i would buy a new phone, it would not be sony @[email protected] lol

the cpu have flash support.. and our cpu doesn't

just a though..
w8 is 2011 product, hoping it will have an bootloader unlock key..
port that to our x8..
can it work this way?

[Q] [Q/Port]Sony Ericsson Xperia X3

Hey All!!
Just Been browsing about and all and i found a new concept phone for the Sony range. X3... Is it possible to port the software/make one of our roms into a look alike. Like before the w8 came out there was a look a like before the actual rom was released?
Link : http://gizmodo.com/5319495/android+based-sony-ericsson-xperia-x3-full-specs-and-large-images
The screenshots look like its running the same as the Satio but it is claming to be a android based.

I just hope it will be only better in terms of support and R&D.
It's a huge company able to blow HTC or even Nokia.
I keep fingers crossed for top notch Xperias.
Hope they come up with a new phone fast as my Arc is a year old in June and normally I buy a new device after a year.

Nothing is changing really. The part of Ericsson that was working on consumer phones is now just owned by Sony too. Same people working on the phones.
The only thing that might change is more integration between Sony products and SE phones. For example: Sony is working on an Android-based Walkman, they might base their software off SE's Android. Would save them a lot of work. And the audio enhancements in the Walkman may be easily ported to the SE devices, and vice versa.
We might also be seeing more integration between Sony TV's and smartphones. Sony will be switching to Google TV 2.0 for their televisions quite soon as far as I know.

I'd rather they fire all the Ericsson people and move everything back to Japan.

Stupidest thing I have read today. Ericsson is a pioneer in communication technology. I can almost guarantee every phone call you make, goes through an Ericsson communication node. They are used all over the world.

Because that would be so easy, not to mention fair.

Good news I think.
Sony have always made top-notch products, and have the manufacturing capabilities of brining world beating stuff to market quickly (Blu-Ray for example).
This will only bee good, it's going to be Sony-Ericsson on speed. bigger and better and more integrated products.
I expect we'll see the End of March launch (as is typical with SE) of their next top of the range handset, branded SONY instead of SE.. and also SE have really made massive leaps in the android market this year.. next year I think they'll start to take significant market share off the likes of HTC and Samsung...

Mystery Xperia model Bluetooth certified; reveals ICS firmware number (6.0.A.1.94)

An unknown Sony Ericsson Xperia model received Bluetooth certification yesterday and in the process unveiled the new Xperia Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware version number as 6.0.A.1.94. As a quick reminder, the latest firmware on the 2011 Xperia models is 4.0.2.A.0.58 (Android 2.3.4). Sony Ericsson went to great lengths to keep exactly which phone was tested under wraps. On the Bluetooth listing details it used the codename “New eDream6” for the design name (this would normally include the model number such as LT15i, LT26i etc) and the design model number simply had a “TBD” next to it (this would normally have the model name such as Xperia X10, Xperia arc etc).
The name ‘New eDream6′ is revealing in itself as eDream is the internal codename that Sony Ericsson uses for its software version numbers for Xperia smartphones. For example, the current software on the 2011 Xperia line up is eDream4. The immediate question this then brings is where is eDream5? Could it be that Sony Ericsson reserved eDream5 for Honeycomb and is using eDream6 for ICS? After all this is exactly what CyanogenMod has done moving from CM7 (Gingerbread) to CM9 (ICS). Now we just have to wait to see this ’6′ firmware version hit PTCRB for 2011 Xperia models to verify all of the above.

So according to sony it's in certification state ICS will be available soon
Here is the older certificate of Xperia Arc,
so the hardware version differ.. So what can we expect ? It's xperia Arc HD release ? or Xperia Arc release ?
TBD Stand for :
To Be Determined
To Be Done
To Be Developed
To Be Discussed
To Be Defined
To Be Decided
Well, after seing this great news, it makes my heartbeat goes faster.
But will they really launch the ICS soon?
In our experience..
Sony always release the firmware update later than the other phone..
Like froyo.. gingerbread..
I hope they make a break trough this time. And surprise the Sony's users

It's a custom Rom we made for research and for FUN. We set out to make a gaming micro console version of xperia play + more. True to Sony stock all fully working.

Brother, i don't understand. Is it that this custom ROM you made is based on xperia play's stock ROM and you made it work on Arc with all the certificates, so that playstation games work on Arc too? Or is it that this ROM is based on Arc's stock ROM with the Xperia play's interface and playstation app to work?
Either ways, can you be kind enough to -
1. Let the community also benefit from this awesome effort of your's by sharing the ROM.
2. And/or, update your 'playstation on Arc' thread with information on how to make playstation games work on Arc.
Thanks in advance mayte.

Well of you dont care much about the camera resolution and the screen size it would be good.
But I won't recommend to upgrade to xperia U from an arc. Its got the same processor speed and the same amount of RAM
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
small screen and less RAM are the disadvantages..
if u can see, in 2013 almost all mid to high end phones will definitely have equal to or more than 1GB of RAM..and i m sure googles next OS 'jelly beans' will be RAM hungry
Okay thanks. What about Xperia P?
