[Q] Not Working - CyanogenMod 7 on my Nexus 1 - Nexus One General

I just upgraded to the new CyanogenMod 7 on my Nexus 1 and unfortunately it is not loading. It gets to the CyanogenMod screen, with the Android guy on the stake board and the arrow going around him, but it just wont go passed that screen. It has never gone passed this screen.
What i have tried:
Taking out the battery and restarting it
letting it run for 30 minutes
If anyone one can help me I would greatly appreciate it
Regards,

What recovery are you using? Is this the first time you have a custom rom on? Try fllashing the rom again.

I figured it out .. I went into the bootloader, cleared the storage, and it worked!!!!
I have had Rom 6.0 before I tired installing 7.0.
Thank you for your efforts

Stupid Nexus 7 owner

Guys,
I've searched and cannot find an answer to this, everything that gets me close brings me back to here.
I recently bought a Nexus 7, decided to root it - which I did successfully. I installed CM 9 instead of 10 by complete accident. I have CM 10 running now, but when my device boots the CM 9 splash screen loads. I don't want to cause any problems so I'd much prefer to simply start again i.e restore and start over and re-root etc.
If there is a simple way of removing CM 9 (all traces) i'll be happy not to restore.
*please go easy on me, I'm new to Android. Ex-iOS user.

Just boot into recovery, wipe the device, and flash CM10. When in doubt, always wipe. and create a backup. That is a good idea too lol
Glad to see that you've been converted :beer:
I'm not sure if it was updated, but when I flashed cm10 I got the cm9 boot animation,.. check the thread for the ROM and the changelogg.

Same goes for when you're not sure if you're clean after dropping a log. I'm telling you, you can find the answer to all of life's questions on XDA!

[Q] Is the NEXUS 10 TOOLKIT V1.3.0 working?

Hello. Just received my Nexus 10 and really want to root, although pretty scared in case of bricking my device. Can anyone tell me if the current version of the [NEXUS 10 TOOLKIT V1.3.0] is working FULLY? I see posts on the actual thread containing the toolkit that peoples devices wont boot fully, but also people saying their thanks as it has worked for them. I cannot post in that thread due to having no post count.
Also, when I open up the Toolkit it asks me what build I am using, which is 4.2.1, but the only build displayed is 4.2.0 (not my build), so how do I get around this and tell the toolkit my build is 4.2.1.
Thanks
It got me into a boot loop after unlocking the device, had to go into the custom recovery to fix it. Make sure you read the instructions given by the developer on the first page before using the tool kit. Same with choosing the build, check about phone in settings and then see what build you have before chosing your os.

Hey thanks for the info, well I was about to use it but like I said after opening the toolkit and having my device connected it only displayed the build 4.2.0 but my build is 4.2.1, is the toolkit only available for 4.2.0 or how do I select my build (4.2.1) , thanks

I personally used this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2025268
Was fast and painless. So far working great.

I did take a look at that but what are the requirements to use it? As it doesn't say on the thread. My nexus is fully stock apart from the 4.2.1 update. Thanks again for the reply
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
Just select the 4.2.0 build even though you have 4.2.1. It worked great for me. It says somewhere in the post that you can use the 4.2.0 for 4.2.x builds.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Oh well I guess il try it then. So for you it was as simple as following the instructions on the toolkit? I'm extremely paranoid of bricking my device
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
That is the toolkit I used and it worked fine. I felt comfortable with it because it is the same guy I used the toolkit from on my Galaxy Nexus. I didnt read any instructions since I already know how to use it and had no problems. I wasnt even aware of any "special requirements"
Hmmm I may be wrong but I thought the boot loader needed unlocking for that one ?

I used the toolkit on my nexus 10 after i upgraded it to 4.2.1 Just selected the do everything option and followed the directions. Worked like a champ.
Thanks for all the replies, I decided to go ahead and root, and all went fine. One more question, when a system update becomes available, through my notifications can I go ahead and do it?

I haven't done it yet because there hasn't been an update since I rooted but there is an app called OTA Rootkeeper that is supposed to allow you to take ota updated and maintain root.

Not sure how it works on Nexus 10 as I am yet to receive mine but on Nexus 7 even after rooting the device using Mskip's toolkit I am able to receive OTA updates without any issues.
Being the same developer and similar toolkit I think it should work.

To receive OTA updates you must have a locked bootloader and stock recovery. Doesnt matter what much though since if you want an update to whatever OTA comes out, someone ALWAYS compiles a 100% stock rooted ROM based on whatever latest OTA has just come out. Usually it is on the very same day as the official OTA too
But I still recommend a custom ROM. Craig's AOSP+ is basically the stock ROM but comes with many fixes for things broken on just running stock, and increases compatibility with external devices.
I could use some help on how to utilize my donation code. I have scanned the thread very well and cannot find out how to use the code after donation. I am a non posting donator to many forums and threads. Successfully modified dozens of devices. This is the first one I am to excited to work the bugs out myself. I have the 4.2.1 update, got it unlocked but, cannot get any further. The tool just keeps stopping. It obviously works, I am just missing something that is probably really simple. I would also like the functionality of the donator options. Any help would be greatly appreciated.........................Just found donator portal. Still stuck after unlocked bootloader.
I myself cannot find the donor portal, I am going crazy trying to find it. Can someone please tell me where it is? This is my first time rooting a device. Thanks
Mike
Toolkit works well. I got to eager and forgot to terminate ADB. I opened my task mgr. on windows and felt like a real boob, had like 20 cmd windows open. Still having a heck of a time accessing donator tools. Put in code from main menu #26. But, no updates to the kit. Nexus 10 + x-mas = no sleep.

Stupid 4.3 ota failed!

My N10 is rooted but with a stock ROM. Earlier on it said that there was an update (4.3) and it downloaded it, re booted and then came up with an error saying 'no command' while displaying the small pic of the Android. It sat there for 10 mins and then eventually booted back into the OS. When I checked the version, it was back to 4.2.2.
Now when I check for an update, it says that there's no update available.
What do I do?

Are you on stock recovery? Barring that, clear Google Framework data and try again maybe?
Sent from my MB855 using xda app-developers app
That message is okay. Nothing is wrong with your tablet, other than the fact that the update didn't take. Do as the above poster said, or manually install the OTA.

Why not try to check again for the OTA? No worries dude... That's not an unusual thing to happen . Also you can try doing what the other two said ,)

Thanks guys. I cleared Google Framework Data and the download started again and failed again. This time, all it said was "error"!
I really don't want to zero the tablet again and lose all my data by doing the update manually. Is there any way to avoid that?
Also is there anything great about 4.3 that makes the update worth doing?

Its probably because your tablet is rooted. Try unrooting and then doing the update.

Yeah, I thought that was it too so I unrooted and tried again. It's still the same.
I really don't want to do a factory reset and manually update the bloody thing - I'll lose all my stuff!
Called Google support and sent them pictures of the Android screen (they asked for them!) and apparently they're investigating...
Yeah maybe you just need to wait a little more so you won't be like me. I just bricked mine today trying to do a factory reset .

You can manually update without performing a factory reset by just pushing boot and system, although you need to know what can go wrong before you try.
Same issue, rooted and custom recovery.
But if they are investigation, maybe I won't remove the custom recovery, too much work.
I got the 'error' screen too. pressed power and volume and it told me that build.prop failed the file check, pulled an fresh copy out of the old factory image, copied it to my n10 and tried the OTA again. All went ok, now on 4.3
Same error!!
Already did a factory reset and still have the error
Same problem here. Rooted on stock. Keep going to Recovery, then errors when trying to apply the 'untrusted' update, as it states.
Same problem here....rooted with stock recovery, tried three times clearing the data from Google framework but no luck so far...

[Q] nexus 7 keeps restarting after 4.3 update

this is my first time making an account/posting on xda after being a long time reader and user. just need some help with my nexus 7 32gb WiFi (Australian model) i have loved this tablet and I have never had a problem with it, its unrooted and has never been dropped or anything like that, i updated it to 4.3 ota last night and almost instantly after that I have noticed it keeps rebooting itself like so many other people have problems with on earlyr versions like 4.2, please tell me what I can do to fix this, I can't find any straight help, my location is off and always has been, but I have noticed every now and again I would notice (on earlyr version) fused location would always stop working and ask me to force close randomly, that now doesn't happen but instead it retstarts, so do u think this could be the problem? any help would be awesome, thanks.
If you're having a problem with 4.3 you can try two things.
1. Revert back to 4.2.2
2. Try a rooted official stock ROM.

I've had random reboots on 4.2.2 and one since updating to 4.3. Usually happens when I am mounting or unmounting a USB drive, but sometimes it's for no apparent reason.

[HELP] CyanogenMod 10.2 (4.3.1)

Hello,
I've been trying to look for help the past couple of hours and just can't seem to find any.. It is getting a bit frustrating.
I recently put CyanogenMod 10.2 on my Nexus 4 using the CyanogenMod Installer that was released a few days ago, as I was using my phone for the past couple of days I noticed that I would get a solid 4 hours of battery life using this ROM which is really frustrating...
I'm looking for a nice and simple (DETAILED) way of flashing back to stock android
or
Flashing a new custom ROM from one of the threads...
I hope someone out there will guide me to help me solve my issue since my phone is very important for me during work.
Well you probably have a recovery.
Power off the phone, then power on holding power+voldwn. You'll be in the bootloader, and use the volume keys to make the option on the box say recovery. Then hit power to confirm. Since you used the app you'll probably have ClockworkMod. If you do, good . Reboot and go on XDA via PC/ best method. Look for a nice Android ROM for the Nexus 4. I personally like Slim. Download it and the correct Google Apps for the Android Version. Slim has there own on there website. Or a quick Google for PA Gapps will find the medifire link. It's easy ass hell. You already did the hard part . Once recovery is one the phone and the bootloader is unlocked your good . Just download a to for the Nexus 4 via XDA and flash in recovery. Just always wipe if your changing ROMs. Youtube can also help .
