I noticed moments ago there's a Skype update. In this new update, calls over 3G is enabled, included US. Let's try our Atrixes!

It works but still sucks, no video calling either.
Outgoing audio is still full of static, and they did not even put it on their "Known Issues" so essentially Skype is completely ignoring it, and it is a very easy fix, really.
Pseudo-code:
If the device is MB860
{
set the damn audio sampling to 32k instead of 44k
}
doesnt work for me, voice quality still unusable.
Voice quality fixed!

Anyone already tried this technique on our Vibrant?
Dunno if its possible on the vibrant but even if it was we would need an app that's coded for it. Right now it seems all the recording apps require mic+speakerphone.

I use the app called "Call Recorder" and have had great success with recording conversations without the use of speakerphone during the call. I recorded a sample of me calling my cell phone from my home phone. The recording quality is good enough that you can hear the caller's dialogue, and your voice will be crystal clear because it's recorded through our phone's microphone.

You're welcome man! I'm glad that someone finally believed me when I told them that the sound quality wasn't really bad at all.
Let me know how you make out with it!

The Atrix is not supported yet by Tango. Wait until they officially support the phone.
If it's any help there is already a specific version of Qik for the Atrix. It's called Qik video connect for Motorola. It will use the ffc.
beat me by less than an hour on this post - I had been messing with it for about 10 minutes at lunch trying to get it up and running with no luck.... The strange part is that the app isn't force closing (FC), it is just going into the background. When it "soft closes," press and hold the home softkey button until the task manager pops up and you'll see it is still running, not to mention the lack of an official notification from Android that it had indeed FC'd.
The problem with qik is that you can't video call to iphobe users.

yeah but no FFC for fring yet right?
Yes, Tango app doesn't work yet on Atrix. Fring & Yahoo messenger works but only with rear camera. They need to tweak these apps to make it work with Atrix FFC.
Anybody heard any news on updates for any of these chat apps yet? Really want to use this FFC already...
You should uninstall Tango until they come out with an update for it to support our device. I found it preventing my phone from sleeping and draining the battery. That's what I got from my experience with it.
There was a tango update today anyone test it on the atrix??i have tango but no one to test it with

Tango is working now. Just had a 3g video call with ffc. However battery suffered big.

The ffc camera works since the update but now, I have no outgoing sound. I'm sure they are working on it

I still have the problem where you connect a call and there is no audio. Usually works when I call right back. Still a pain though.

Hi All, I am just newly shifting from HTC Desire HD to SGS II. I used to use internet calling through BRIA application over 3G on my desire HD phone without any voice quality issues. Trying the same on SGS II, I noticed that while I can hear the other side clearly, they cannot hear me at all! I loved my new phone though I ended up holding both 4+ inch screen phones to manage all my internet intl. Calls on my old phone! Has anyone experienced same problems with internet calling on SGS II? Please share if there is any specific settings needs to be adjusted.
Additional observation, meanwhile my Desire HD has some options for internet calling under Settings/Call, the SGS II doesn't! Where can I find the normal Internet Calling Setting gs on it?
Thanks all, & Have a great day!

I use Ooma and the call quality's great over 3/4G and Wi-Fi. The call quality's not as good if the signal's weak but that's to be expected.
Seems strange! As i'm using the highest speed internet data plan (21M) H+!
What codecs are you using for calls over 3G? I am using G729 as I heard it is the best 3G codec. BRIA Even are selling it separately away of their application price to those willing to have very good quality over 3G! But seems this is not the problem as I am using same settings on both phones!

There is an app called cSipsimple in the market.it works with any voip and voice quality is great. It has a function to integrate with your dialer if you want. You will need to configure the mic because SGS2 has two mics.one at the top and one at the bottom.these software tends to use the upper mic by default.there is also another option to activate the default integrated sip function that comes with the phone.only fault, it seems to use the upper mic (close to the phone jack).i can't remember if this can be configured.

Gave it a try! It is working great! Really thank you!
Though, still needs to understand about the mics issue! Does it mean this application uses different mic than BRIA is configured to use! Couldn't get this as a Non-Specialist. Can a headphone speaker with a mic solve the problem?

I have used i9023 on skype for vidoe calling with more than 30 mins.
Did you check if the call drop is happening from the other end?
Sorry for the offtopic, but did the newest skype version change your icons while receiving a call?

I got Nexus S day before yday.
I installed Skype from market yday, so I suppose that it's the latest version. But skype video calling doesn't work, I mean I don't see the video call option.
Should be doing something in the settings? Thanks

it seems like skype is aware of this issue with canadian i9020/i9023. skype 2 doesnt seem to recognize it as a nexus s and thus we dont get the video call function. Im not sure when a fix is supposed to come
I just saw this thread, so I figured I would download skype on my NexusS (just got it a week ago). I did a quick test call to my wife who`s out of town and it worked flawlessly. Not sure why it`s not working on some of your phones.
I need a way to record voice calls, both lines. I have looked into some apps that don't work so well, so i need your help.
I have never had much success with these types of apps. The best one that recorded both sides of the conversation breaks Bluetooth which is a deal breaker for me.

That it does sir but I tried it not too long ago and it didn't seem to work either. But that was a few releases ago so maybe it has changed.

That's how I do it. I open up voice recorder & put call on Speaker & record call.
i honestly dont remember i tried several apps from the market, i could look to see if any of them look familiar but i move through so much stuff i cant say for suer which one it was. plus i use cm7 and this could have played a role what worked and how well it worked. sorry!!
I use CallRecorder from the market and Lithid's Freedom v8.5 kernel. Works great. I get both sides and I don't have to be on speaker phone.
Google voice, press #4 when the call connects. The best I have used.
